      Beautiful place. Calm serene and the house has a loved feeling. There is a lift if you can’t manage the stairs. Fascinating background to the families that owned the house plus other families who started businesses relating to the sugar industry.

      3 kiwi brothers who wanted to ‘try something different…sugar’ have built a wonderful Homestead. A wonderful example of the Queenslander style of housing. The museum about sugar is informative. 3 Italians and 2 Toft brothers played big roles in Bundy sugar. Thanks for nothing Cane Toads, a good recap of the original purpose and disastrous consequences. Located in the Botanical Gardens with access through walking the park, or car parking at the front of the House. Good work to the community of Bundy for relocating the House for people to appreciate.

      This old house is a wonderful specimen, however some of the rooms were not set as what they used to be. A lift has been installed and even though true historians may lose their breath in a sudden cry of anguish, this has allowed many more people to see this home and is tastefully hidden. Some artefacts are very interesting and it also encompasses other families who contributed so much to the sugar industry. For Seniors’ week, we were provided with tea/coffee and cake that we took pleasure in eating on that wonderful verandah. One could dream of such a house in India and sitting there in the Australian sun as the cane burned. There was a shirt replica that one of the men wore whilst working in the fields – they were tough in those days.

      Definitely worth the trip if you love old houses. The house itself is spectacular and in great condition. Staff are knowledgeable and keen to share the history. Downstairs is a small museum on the history of sugar which is pretty interesting.

    Mackay () is a city in the Mackay Region on the eastern or Coral Sea coast of Queensland, Australia. It is located about 970 kilometres (603 mi) north of Brisbane, on the Pioneer River.     Rockhampton is a city in the Rockhampton Region of Central Queensland, Australia. In the 2021 census, the population of Rockhampton was 79,293.Rockhampton is one of the oldest cities in Queensland and in Northern Australia. In 1853, Charles and William Archer came across the Toonooba River (which is now also known as the Fitzroy River), which they claimed in-honour of Sir Charles FitzRoy. The Archer brothers took-up a run near Gracemere in 1855, and more settlers arrived soon thereafter, enticed by the fertile valleys.       This is a nice museum with amazingly preserved pieces of history. Nearly in the heart of Rockhampton, inside the railway station you will discover how the trains of the area operated over the centuries and what it meant for the growth of the town.

      Staff members looking after the place are always smiling and passionate about this important place. Enjoy taking a look at what the inside of the carriages used to be and get a fantastic photo of sitting in the train driver’s seat! Lastly, have a ride on the tram cart that travels through the town, lots of fun for the family.

      Amazing place! Very informative and well worth the visit – Entry is free! Buy something to support our troops :-). Is undergoing a refurb in April 2024 with new aircraft coming in, so looking forward to re-visiting. Staff are amazing to talk to and very passionate about our defence. Cannot recommend highly enough. Free parking, very clean venue, toilets, free entry and allow around 1hr. Activities for little ones to do too :-). Enjoy.

      This museum was wonderfully set out and extremely clean. Was definitely worth the visit. My 2 daughters (2 & 3) had a ball taking photos and playing in the kids area. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be visiting again. ??

      A great step back in time and well worth the drive to Herberton. There is plenty to see, and you can spend days wondering through the village. Plenty of preserved and restored history from the local area as well as a few items from further abroad. Very dog friendly. A few more items on the food menu would certainly be a plus. A must do activity in Far North Queensland for locals and tourists alike.

      Fantastic day with the kids aged 10,8,4. Spent most of the day exploring the village/museum items in each building. The kids watched a blacksmith demo for over an hour. Unfortunately was not a weekend that the steam train was running. The historical items collected and the village displays are amazing. We enjoyed a scone with jam and cream for morning tea. After a few more village display visits we headed over to the camp kitchen where we were greeted by a lovely couple who cooked up a delicious camp oven lunch. There is a great play ground if the kids need a run around throughout the day. There is so much to see and take in. What a fantastic display of items. The film showing some of the indigenous history of the area along with the pioneers story was also interesting. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

      We visited the Herberton Historic Village over the holidays with our parents and 6 month old. Easily the best historic attraction we have been to as a family and a MUST DO if visiting the Tablelands. There was something to see and do for everyone with the oldies constantly reminding us of the memorabilia they had “back in their day”. The random storms throughout the day didn’t dampen our spirits and was actually satisfying waiting out the rain under a 100 year old tin roof shed. Thanks for an amazing and unforgettable day!

      Didn’t think I’d enjoy the opulence and leftover waste of colonialism and obvious impact it has had on the environment and it’s indigenous peoples however I was delightfully surprised by the effort put into collecting and presenting the pioneer artifacts and lifestyle by presenting it in a huge Villiage of shops and sheds, stores and buildings of every kind from toy store to garage, chemist and butcher, radio shop and school house etc etc etc, the list is endless and make sure you have at least 2 days to explore. Will take some people back to the antiques and things they have seen or owned or been handed down. The wealth earned from taking the tin has certainly boosted QLD however the toke is tic minimalistic display of poorly labelled Aboriginal items is an example of destruction by the commonwealth and its peoples. I took a million photos for my aging mother who will appreciate the memories of yesteryear. Good gift shop, some excellent handturned local wood items by their master craftsman, toilets are spread through the Villiage, plus a cafe with great food. You can take a nice walk over the suspension bridge to the station n mill and along the creek. There are various presentations on timetabled through the day and a film narrated by a Jack Thompson that I wasn’t really impressed with. Although the curved cinema screen was cool the film glossed over genocide and theft! My husband loves this kind of place because lots of old machinery, some cars n bikes and a great collection of tools as well. My favourite would have to be the lower and upper classrooms set up and the chemist. The toy store is the creepiest beware of atttachment in there. Staff at gift shop were lovely, super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this as one of the best historical comprehensive and excellently presented collections of pioneer life in Australia without the noise and bustle of places like Sovereign Hill ViC. Not really wheelchair friendly though which is a downside for many.

      Run by volunteers this place is well implemented and well worth a visit. Entry is by donation and photography welcome. You can spend a couple of hours here if you have a specific interest. Kids will find the dioramas interesting.

      What a great little museum – a hidden gem! There are 3 galleries in total covering different era’s, and some of the displays are really well put together. Definitely worth a visit, we spent an hour here but your could spend longer if you read everything. Some great displays are really hidden away (especially the far right corner in the second gallery building), so be sure to look around!

      A very interesting museum. Lots of interesting artefacts from the Boer War to modern day conflicts telling the story of the Australia’s involvement. Spent a couple of hours here looking round and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even better entry is free. Lots of volunteers who all seemed knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended if you have an interest in military history and are in the area.

      A must – do when visiting Tasmania. A wonderful insight into Australia’s convict past. Guided tours are excellent, guides are knowledgeable and entertaining. Most areas are easily accessed, but there are hills. Your ticket is a two day pass which gives plenty of time to see everything.

      Amazing to learn about the history of this place. Recommend that you take advantage of the two day pass if you’re staying nearby and split your visit.

      We did an afternoon and then the following morning which was just about right.

      The self guided tour around the site is good, but make sure you get a map! As an add on the Isle of the Dead tour is excellent and can be accessed from the harbour cruise.

      The massacre that occurred here in 1996 is also very sensitively dealt with, the memorial garden has a real sense of serenity and allows for quiet contemplation.

      Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Tas, a great historic site to spend at least 2 – 3 hours roaming around. Plenty of greenery with a water view. There’s a complimentary 30min ferry ride around the cove. Tours are also available. Cafe food is just ok, it’s what you expect from any attraction site price wise.

    Geelong ( jih-LONG) (Wathawurrung: Djilang/Djalang) is a port city in Victoria, Australia, located at the eastern end of Corio Bay (the smaller western portion of Port Phillip Bay) and the left bank of Barwon River, about 65 km (40 mi) southwest of Melbourne. Geelong is the second largest Victorian city behind Melbourne with an estimated urban population of 268,277 as of June 2018, and is also Australia's second fastest-growing city. Geelong is also known as the "Gateway City" due to its critical location to surrounding western Victorian regional centres including Ballarat in the northwest, Torquay, Great Ocean Road and Warrnambool in the southwest, Hamilton, Colac and Winchelsea to the west, providing a transport corridor past the Central Highlands for these regions to the state capital Melbourne in its northeast. The City of Greater Geelong is also a member of the Gateway Cities Alliance in partnership with Councils from Newcastle and Wollongong. Geelong is the administrative centre for the City of Greater Geelong municipality, which is Port Phillip's only regional metropolitan area, and covers all the urban, rural and coastal reserves around the city including the entire Bellarine Peninsula and running from the plains of Lara in the north to the rolling hills of Waurn Ponds to the south, with Corio Bay to the east and the Barrabool Hills to the west. The traditional owners of the land on which Geelong sits were the Wadawurrung (also known as Wathaurong) Aboriginal people of the Kulin nation. The Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation is the Registered Aboriginal Party for the region. The modern name of Geelong, established in 1827, was derived from the local Wadawurrung name for the region, Djilang, thought to mean "land", "cliffs" or "tongue of land or peninsula". The area was first surveyed by the European settlers in 1838, three weeks after Melbourne. A town post office was opened by June 1840, the second to open in the Port Phillip District. The first woolstore was erected in this period and it became the port for the wool industry of the Western District.During the Victorian gold rush, Geelong experienced a brief boom as the main port to the rich goldfields of the Ballarat district. The town then diversified into manufacturing, and during the 1860s became one of the largest manufacturing centres in Australia with its wool mills, ropeworks, and paper mills. It was proclaimed a city in 1910, with industrial growth from this time until the 1960s establishing the city as a manufacturing centre for the state, and the population grew to over 100,000 by the mid-1960s. During the city's early years, an inhabitant of Geelong was often known as a Geelongite or a "Pivotonian", derived from the city's nickname of "The Pivot", referencing the city's role as a shipping and rail hub for the area. Population increases over the last decade were due to growth in service industries, as the manufacturing sector has declined. Redevelopment of the inner city has occurred since the 1990s, as well as gentrification of inner suburbs, and currently has a population growth rate higher than the national average.Today, Geelong stands as an emerging healthcare, education and advanced manufacturing centre. The city's economy is shifting quickly and despite experiencing the drawbacks of losing much of its heavy manufacturing, it is seeing much growth in other tertiary sectors, positioning itself as one of the leading non-capital Australian cities. It is home to the Geelong Football Club, the second oldest club in the Australian Football League.

      The kids enjoyed themselves at MoPA. Various activities for them to do, some were at certain times such as painting the car. It took an hour from Melbourne to get there and parking wasn’t a problem, and free. Easy to entertain the kids for 2h. They moved from activity to activity at their pace and went back to the ones they enjoyed a few times. The staff were friendly and were cleaning up after the session so the place was nice and clean.

      Oh my goodness, what a place! Next level awesome for kids fun time… Great location for adults and kids alike. (hard to take photos without kids, and makes it look strange… But you get the idea)

      Sensory magic everywhere – well designed safety conscience space – large variety of activities to suit different interests (and ages) – indoor and outdoor adventure – great use of a beautiful old building

      Seriously considering the membership, even though we live in Melbourne over an hour away. It was just so great! Thank you, we will be back!

      There were lots of activities, they have scheduled of activities for the 2 hours to make sure your 2hr visit is maximized. Friendly and helpful staff. My kids enjoyed every bits of it. Thank you for making this happen ?

      You definitely want to arrive on time for your session to make FULL use of the two hours, because it will not be enough! My kids aged 4, 6 and 8 all loved it, especially the water run, zoom room, and interactive colouring screens. Staff is amazingly helpful and friendly, I was there alone with three kids all spread out and they helped me keep an eye on them. We were lucky to find street parking right in front of the museum, but when it gets busy parking might be tricky. Cafe selection is very small and pricey, but kids will probably be too busy playing to eat anyway.
