      We expected more from the medieval castle, It was a shame that most of the medieval exhibits were closed due to disrepair. The toy shop & doll display were open for viewing, that’s the castles main focus currently. Sadly we weren’t here long at all. I do hope it’s restored to its former glory. I’d love to check it out fully one day… fingers crossed ?

      We have been here over the last 19 years. We used to go into the Castle to explore the dolls and rooftop. We did the self-guided tour with the kids and still enjoyed it. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

It is the smallest, wettest, and most northerly of the Australian capital cities and serves as the Top End's regional centre. Darwin's proximity to Southeast Asia makes it a key link between Australia and countries such as Indonesia and East Timor. The Stuart Highway begins in Darwin and extends southerly across central Australia through Tennant Creek and Alice Springs, concluding in Port Augusta, South Australia. The city is built upon a low bluff overlooking Darwin Harbour. Darwin's suburbs begin at Lee Point in the north and stretch to Berrimah in the east. The Stuart Highway extends to Darwin's eastern satellite city of Palmerston and its suburbs. The Darwin region, like much of the Top End, has a tropical climate, with a wet and dry season. A period known locally as "the build up" leading up to Darwin's wet season sees temperature and humidity increase. Darwin's wet season typically arrives in late November to early December and brings with it heavy monsoonal downpours, spectacular lightning displays, and increased cyclone activity. During the dry season, the city has clear skies and mild sea breezes from the harbour. The Larrakia people are the traditional owners of the Darwin area and Aboriginal people are a significant proportion of the population. On 9 September 1839, HMS Beagle sailed into Darwin Harbour during its survey of the area. John Clements Wickham named the region "Port Darwin" in honour of their former shipmate Charles Darwin, who had sailed with them on the ship's previous voyage. The settlement there became the town of Palmerston in 1869, but was renamed Darwin in 1911. The city has been almost entirely rebuilt four times, following devastation caused by a cyclone in 1897, another one in 1937, Japanese air raids during World War II, and Cyclone Tracy in 1974.

      Drive out to East Point to the Darwin military museum. It is a wonderful exhibit and history lesson. The drive out to East Point is really scenic and there’s a lot of places to stop and take photographs or enjoy a picnic lunch. The museum is worth the visit. It is very educational and the exhibits and recreation of the bombing of Darwin from historic photographs into a film is incredible. Highly recommend.

      So much to see in this place. The grounds go on forever with lots of great informative displays. Inside was WW2 info including a really good movie on the bombing of Darwin. Worth a visit

      Today I took my 11 year old grandson to the DMM he said it has been his best day ever. Temp is 38′ ? however we went through every exhibition and he read most (time permitting) of the information that he could. I personally believe our young ones learn as much as they can about the history of war and Australia’s part in the hope that history does not repeat itself.

      Well worth a look. Guided tours would be an advantage (if there was it wasn’t offered) and give the displays a good dusting. Educate the front desk staff what a veterans pension card is as both of them didn’t know. Presented mine and at first it was refused as they said it wasn’t a pension card. After showing them the smaller writing on the back (Vet affairs) was accepted

      An excellent botanic garden that you should visit if passing by Cofs Harbour. Very close to the city. Lots of varieties of plants and different sections based on different countries or climates. It seems that there are still lots of improvements and new projects going on as well. I would definitely visit next time to see the changes. There is a large parking, toilet, and a cafe at the entrance. Also worth mentioning there is a small section at the entrance with pots and plants for sale at great prices.

      Went for a walk to the Chinese garden to visit where we were married 19 years ago ❤️ on our way out we stopped at the pond at the enterance & the guy there came and spoke to us, told us about the wildlife & showed us the bower birds bower, he was amazingly full of knowledge & a pleasure to talk to, wish I got his name! Beautiful gardens to visit!

      Nice walk through the parklands. We loved the greenhouse, and being transported to Japan in the Japanese garden. Highlight was seeing a little bowerbird building his nest.

      So much to see here. Fascinating range of 2 and 4 wheeled vehicles and other goodies. Knowledgeable and friendly staff to greet and assist you. I was surprised at just how vast the display was. It’s huge and you will want to spend at least 2 hours here, and that’s rushing it. Waze directed me to the old location of the museum. I should have just followed the signs. If you are interested in Australian automotive history then you have to see this. Plenty of parking.

      Loved it. Large collection of vintage cars, bikes, fire truck and accessories. My kids enjoyed seeing this and really amused. Surprisingly this museum has one car that exists only here and one in the world. The team maintains them like a gem. Great work!! Must visit place when you are heading towards Wollongong.

      Definitely a hidden gem. As the name suggests its a museum full of historic cars and trucks. Furthermore, there are so many different historical artifacts on display. Really enjoyed my time walking through and the people on the floor are highly knowledgeable on every piece of history in that place. Not many, but even a couple of trucks and a caravan little kids can climb on and look through

      Absolutely loved this museum, one of the best motor experiences I have ever had. There are so many amazing pieces of history in here that included more than just cars! There were old tools, record players, irons, taxi meters, typewriters, telephones and so much more. If you love antique stores, you’ll love this museum. I highly recommend speaking to Trevor, he was so knowledgeable and made the experience even better.       Aside from a good collection of old cars and motor bikes there are lots of memorabilia and other items of interest to make it a worthwhile visit. Most enjoyable.

    Lismore is a city located in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia and the main population centre in the City of Lismore local government area, it is also a regional centre in the Northern Rivers region of the state. Lismore is 734 km (456 mi) north of Sydney and 200 km (120 mi) south of Brisbane. It is situated on a low floodplain on the banks of the Wilsons River near the latter's junction with Leycester Creek, both tributaries of the Richmond River which enters the Pacific Ocean at Ballina, 30 km (19 mi) to the east. The original settlement initially developed as a grazing property in the 1840s, then became a timber and agricultural town and inland port based around substantial river traffic, which prior to the development of the road and rail networks was the principal means of transportation in the region. Use of the river for transport declined and then ceased around the mid-twentieth century, however by that time Lismore (which was elevated to city status in 1946) had become well established as the largest urban centre in the region, providing its surrounding area with a range of services. The city is also located on the Bruxner Highway which crosses the Wilsons River at Lismore, and was formerly a stop on the Casino-Murwillumbah railway line. It is the home of one of the three campuses of Southern Cross University. With its low-lying position adjacent to the Wilsons River, which can rise rapidly following periods of high rainfall in its catchment, the centre of Lismore is susceptible to flooding, although it is partly protected by a system of levees and flood gates. Noteworthy recent floods occurred in 1974, 2017 in the aftermath of Cyclone Debbie and the worst ever in 2022. A budget was announced for additional flood mitigation works in November 2018. At the 2021 census, the urban population of Lismore was 28,816.
