Aldi saves me heaps on my weekly shopping bill. All products are excellent. Fruit and vegetables all seem to be locally produced. The centre aisle specialty products are interesting and I have bought many items. From small to larger they have all proven to be long lasting and good quality. Aldi is ace.

EDIT: Self-checkout now installed. (Nov 2022) Needs a way to hang your shopping bag to load it. ?‍♂️
      NOTE: Carpark now 1.9m !!!

Renovations completed. New layout. I’m a fan. Got some great deals. Missed out on some too… (get in early!)
Alcohol section as well. (New spot)

Enter from Inkerman Street ramp or go via the off-street carpark (2.0m max)

Tip: Check the front check-out windows for product delays….

Alcohol section moved to the West Wall.

      Edit:
[Some shelves are bare due to shortages] Better now

      [Renovations 28 April 2022 to 13 May 2022] Completed.

I have never given a supermarket a review before but I just had such a pleasant experience here.
Super clean and nice. Staff were kind and helpful to me.
I often witness mild chaos at self check outs but this was one was so quick, easy and pain free.

Great store in general but last time I was there I had to listen to a staff member getting a talking-to by *I guess* the manager. It was so busy and this poor girl was being reprimanded in front of about 20 people… what a terrible management technique… not only is it not the way to motivate your staff effectively it’s totally inappropriate to be giving staff feedback in front of customers like that, let them get the job done for the customers first, (the feedback was about getting the shelves filled more quickly so it’s kinda counterproductive to be telling her off in the middle of it all) while it’s busy and pull them aside privately later… It was strange, uncomfortable, and also concerning as if this is what customers CAN hear I can only imagine the way they are treated without customers around? I hope I’m wrong about this.

Absolutely ridiculous and worst experience ever in an Aldi Store! I understand that Aldi requires you to have your bag checked, but last time a guy with blonde hair asked me to open up my luggage in the store. That’s unbelievable! Are we in the airport? It’s just a supermarket, how can that be legal? Their bag policy here is just on another level. They should fire an employee who can’t understand what privacy is. I won’t ever come back to this store… Unbelievable.

I was injured in a fall at the South Melbourne Aldi store last evening. I slipped on a piece of lettuce leaf lying on the sloping floor that leads to the exit. Not a single member of staff so much as enquired if I was Ok or needed help. I had to literally crawl across the floor to reach a hand rail which I then had to use to drag myself up off the floor. I have bruising and swelling to my right hand, bruising to my right shoulder & severe neck pain.

I am an elderly woman and it’s a miracle I didn’t break a hip. I’m disgusted with the in-store staff who offered no assistance, showed no concern and left me to humiliatingly crawl across their filthy floor.

I am also disgusted with the processes for making a complaint. There is no way to phone anyone. I have had to email via their website which leaves me with no record of what I said or even any proof that I sent that complaint in. If I do not receive a reply by the end of today I will be contacting relevant authorities and reporting you for safety violations, Leaving waste products on sloping floors is a clear violation of your duty of care. Leaving an injured old woman to crawl around on a floor trying to get herself up without so much as asking if she needs assistance is a clear violation of basic human decency.

Pros and Cons of Shopping at Aldi

    Aldi Supermarkets In Sydney
    Aldi Supermarkets in Sydney

When it comes to choosing a shopping destination, many factors come into play. One major decision consumers face is whether to shop at a discount grocery store like Aldi or a traditional market. Both options have their own pros and cons, and it ultimately comes down to personal preferences and priorities.

    Pros of choosing Aldi:

    • Lower prices: One of the main advantages of shopping at Aldi is its lower prices. The store focuses on providing quality products at affordable prices by implementing cost-saving measures, such as charging for grocery bags and requiring a deposit for shopping carts.
    • Private label brands: Aldi offers a wide range of private label brands, which are often cheaper compared to national brands. These store-branded products provide a more budget-friendly option without compromising on quality.
    • Efficiency: Aldi is known for its efficient store layout, where products are displayed in their shipping boxes. This reduces the need for extensive stocking and keeps overhead costs lower, contributing to the store’s affordable pricing.
    • Limited selection: While this may be seen as a con for some, Aldi’s limited selection can be advantageous for shoppers who find too many options overwhelming. It can also lead to faster shopping trips.
    • Eco-friendly practices: Aldi encourages shoppers to bring reusable bags and provides options for recycling their packaging waste. These initiatives contribute to reducing environmental impact.

    Cons of choosing Aldi:

    • Limited brand variety: Since Aldi primarily focuses on its own private label brands, shoppers who prefer specific national brands may not find them at this store.
    • Packaging preferences: Some shoppers may have packaging preferences, such as wanting to buy products in specific sizes or materials, which may not always be available at Aldi.
    • No online shopping: Unlike traditional markets, Aldi does not offer online shopping options, which might be inconvenient for those who prefer to shop from the comfort of their own homes.
    • No local specialty products: Traditional markets often showcase local produce, homemade goods, and specialty items that Aldi may not carry. Shoppers looking for unique or regional products may prefer traditional markets for a wider selection.
    • Shopping experience: While some shoppers appreciate the no-frills approach of Aldi, others may prefer the ambiance and customer service provided by traditional markets.

Ultimately, the choice between Aldi and a traditional market depends on factors such as pricing, brand preferences, shopping experience, and convenience. Considering these pros and cons can help consumers make an informed decision based on their individual needs.

Shopping at Aldi is a unique experience compared to other grocery stores. The first thing you will notice is the simple yet modern design of the store, which is both aesthetically pleasing and practical. The layout of the store is logical, with everything easily accessible and in plain sight. One of the best things about shopping at Aldi is that it’s cheaper than most other stores. You don’t have to sacrifice quality for affordability either. The products range from fresh meat, fruits and vegetables, dairy products, bakery goods and a lot more.

The brands on offer at Aldi are exclusive to the store, and most are of excellent quality. Aldi is able to keep prices low by enforcing stricter product standards and by selling fewer products. However, you’ll still find a vast array of choices from brands and product categories. Some of the products you’ll find are organic, vegan and gluten-free, making Aldi an excellent choice for people with special nutritional requirements.

What also makes shopping at Aldi exceptional is its checkout process. They keep a comfortable environment, and the lines move very quickly. The staff is always helpful, and the level of customer service is impressive. Overall, shopping at Aldi is efficient, affordable, and an enjoyable experience. Whether you’re shopping for your weekly groceries or just picking up one or two items, Aldi is the way to go. And your in the cbd enjoy ? ?

Half of the time, discount on prices are not registered in the system and I end up paying full price! Plus, when products are « reduced » as they expire soon, apply this new price at the register!! I ended up again paying full price!! And of course we always realise the price difference after paying when checking the receipt. Nobody wants to go back in and annoy everyone to get a refund of the price difference! Please make sure prices are correct when making customers pay!!!

Got overcharged by almost $400 by a cashier who scanned the persons items behind myself instead of my one item when there was clearly a divider behind myself and the person behind. Upon noticing I went back in to get a refund, no apologies offered for this mistake. A week later and I am still waiting on the refund. There’s no numbers to call the store nor their customer service department as it’s all online and customer service is almost non existent. Pretty appalled by the lack of urgency related to this matter as overcharging a customer by this amount is a pretty massive mistake to make.

Terrible for people who can’t have dairy. Not many dairy free or Vegan options. No longer great value, almost as expensive as Coles and WW, but with a much more limited range. Get you act together Aldi!

One of my favourite Aldi stores, the underground carpark is very handy, especially in summer. The store is always clean, tidy and well stocked. The staff are very helpful, but I do suggest asking the male staff members first if you do require customer assistance. This store often sells items which other Aldi stores do not appear to have. They also have great prices reductions to ensure their floor stock is rotating regularly, eg: I just bought an oven for $149, reduced by $100. A household battery recycling bin is conveniently relocated on the far wall beside the checkout area.

Well, great Christmas supplies. Always interesting, always so different. Potatoes and pool chemicals, tomatoes and trombones . Fabulous specials but not always.. ski gear, motorbike gear
Whole bikes, big lines at the door for some specials.
Worth a Walk thru even just for fun.
Well priced staples, almonds and apricots. Some like the salmon, some like the pasta. Not a full selection of veges, but fresh.

Not bad tbh, a lot of thieves and the staff hold their own. Explains the bag checks even when they get abused by everyone about it. Bigger store now with self serve checkouts that still needs getting used to, but great patience from the staff. Early days but will get better. Kiwi guys a massive help especially for the disabled

literally bought chicken 10min ago and came home to cook it and it smelt so foul the moment i opened it. aldi valley have poor meat refrigeration practices not meeting the food safety standards. their meat is so very off more times that i can recall. i don’t have time to be returning with rotten meat for a refund every time so it just goes in the bin with the cash it cost. don’t buy the meat. especially the lamb, chicken and salmon. they need to review their food safety policies.

My shopping experience was so bad. I was using a basket so at the checkout I put the basket on the conveyor belt. Naughty me. The checkout person upended the basket while still serving the person in front. I then had a damaged quiche. Was told not to do that in an angry voice. So I apologized and then upset him by paying cash. Not going back.

If on a budget, worth checking it out ?

They usually have the best prices and deals on the market, fresh produce. No need for going to another supermarket to get the rest of your groceries from.
You can pretty much get and find everything you need at Aldi.

      Complaint alert! :

Usually go on Sundays around lunch time, went a few weeks ago around 4:45pm and got served by Mark if I’m not mistaken. Apparently he’s a trainee Manager… Was the worst service ever. He was so rude with me and the previous person as well. You can tell he just wanted to get out of the store on time. I’m sorry but I work in hospitality as well and you serve until the last minute. They close at 5pm! Come on! It felt like my visit to get a few things was such an inconvenience for him.

Service is usually good there, so I don’t understand why I got treated that way.

Had the rudest lady this morning, pretty sure it was the manager on duty too. I was the only customer in the whole store, grabbed 2 yogurts and was in and out to only be asked for a bag search at the counter and she was very rude about it. So I threw my bad up and she was offended by that and suddenly couldn’t check my bag I had to open it for her coz she was clearly incapable. Didn’t get the food in the end coz she was so rude ?

The new self check-out is a joke, it stops working and when you press the help button I red light flashes a few times above you but nobody comes because ALDI will only have the bare minimum staff working at any time.
Coles and Woolies self check-outs work properly and they will always have a member of staff around to help. Hay ALDI, if you’re not going to set it up properly like the competition have done, then don’t even bother!

Good enough value… when they actually have what one wants in stock, that is.
And, having the store manager lie about when they restock is just not good enough.
Not to mention, a German brand supermarket chain that DOES NOT CARRY SAUERKRAUT, is absolutely outrageous!

Good store, run out of stock before most places but to be expected as in a busy shopping centre.
Staff friendly most of the time.
Not such a good place if buying a lot of things, the way you have to pack out bags over the trolley it annoying and no help from the checkout person, need to be a spot to put items to the side when packing, always feel so incredibly rushed here, always when at the check out.
Also there are NO places to return the trolley outside the store, sometimes need to park a bit further away and none of the Belmount forum trolly bays have the key or space for ALDI trolleys so you have to walk the trolley all the way back to ALDI, which is super annoying if time poor and in a rush. The trolleys are big and loud, that are way to deep for short people, would be good if they had the half trolleys.

Pros and Cons of Shopping at Aldi

I visited Aldi Adelaide Airport recently and I was impressed by their variety and quality of products. They had a lot of fresh and frozen items to choose from, and their prices were very competitive. The store was clean and well-organized, and I had no trouble finding what I needed. The parking lot was spacious and convenient, and there were enough trolleys for everyone. I would recommend Aldi Adelaide Airport to anyone looking for a great shopping experience.

I usually get very friendly cash register operators whenever I shop at Aldi Adelaide Airport, but not today !
I had a young lass, a male, who said : “I just don’t care” ! when I mentioned how smelly the vacuum packed spinach & kale contents were inside the bag. What a negative experience I had today with that young lass. Their 13 number hasn’t got any staff to answer their customer feedback calls either !

Slow on checkouts and the salad mix was well in date, yet got it home and smelt it and it was off (as was the salad mix from other Aldi stores also, this has occured numerous times now), their milk also goes off before the expiry date (quite a few times now), what is the point of trying to save money on shopping when it’s wasted on cheap products you cannot consume … Pointless, c’mon Aldi up your supply chain a d bring “fresh” products to your shelves!

A generally dark and dingy store with no huge appeal. Always pretty empty whenever I’ve been, which is positive. Typically only 1 type of each item, not many named brands, and I’ve yet to get an Aldi brand product that actually tastes better (or as good) as a named brand – it’s really true that you get what you pay for, and even the cheapness of Aldi isn’t much of a saving these days, it’s not as cheap as it used to be.

Staff (checkout operator) was helpful, I was looking for particular items, after checking current week she apologized couldn’t find it, while I went to gather other items, and she had looked at other catalogues, she discovered not on sale till following week, even though she was busy serving, still took time to assist me.
      Shop clean and tidy,

Great location with large parking area. This Aldi store on the Union St is quite large and always well stocked. It is bright and clean with great layout. The staff are friendly. Very good shopping experience each time shopping here! However the deep trolley can be inconvenient sometimes. Hope a shallow trolley or a shopping basket will be available soon.

I have been shopping in the Newcastle West store for a number of years. Recently I have felt unsafe and pressured at the exit/entrance to give money to people who are playing music at times with loud amplifiers, with caps out for money. Additionally when trolleys are full in the area trying to put my trolley back there’s little room to monouver around them. I feel due to the small space left I could fall and hurt myself, which I feel is an OHS issue as on Aldi property, I did bring this up with the staff on check out who said they would escalate to the manager. I spoke to one person blocking the trolley area asking them to move away and I was abused saying there is always one in every crowd. Such a shame for Aldi as Woolworths and Coles which are near have moved these people on, with their security people, to your property

Unfortunately I encountered staff stupidity here this afternoon. I walked up to the check out with 8 items & started to put them on the conveyor when the guy operating the adjacent checkout said the one I was on was closing. I removed my items went into his que then he said where I came from was reopening straight away. I was now stuck behind a shopper with a large amount of items.
What really annoyed me was this checkout guy laughed as he said the original checkout was reopening. No apology from him just stupidity.
I’m really disappointed in this behaviour from that particular staff member.
I did get served by him & he had plenty of time to apologise for his behaviour.

I’ve been living in Cooks Hill for 10 yrs now, and have always shopped at local ALDI, as I’m a loyal brand customer and I love their product range. My experience with this store has always been pleasant until recently.

About a month ago, they hired a new guy, and today has been the second time in a row that this same person asked me to show him my bag for inspection, at the cash register.
I have never experienced anything like this in another store nor witnessed any other customer at this store being searched and treated in this manner, and I shop there 1-2 times a week. When I did offer my (tiny little) bag for inspection, the guy didn’t even bother to look inside its compartments which truly annoyed me so I insisted he takes a good look inside.
I was left feeling singled out, humiliated, and wondering what was in the way I looked that made him suspect me of being a potential thief. I hope this review finds its way to the store manager and make him/her reconsider this policy of random searches ( if such a store policy exists), but I will certainly not be returning to this store and spending my money, only to be made to feel this way.
