Pros and Cons of Shopping at Coles

When it comes to choosing where to do your grocery shopping, you may be considering the convenience of a supermarket like Coles or opting for a traditional market. Both options have their own advantages and disadvantages, depending on your specific needs and preferences.

Here are some pros and cons of choosing Coles as your shopping destination:

    • Convenience: Coles is a one-stop shop where you can find everything you need in one place. It offers a wide range of products, from fresh produce to household items, making it convenient for shoppers to get all their essentials in a single visit.
    • Price competitiveness: Supermarkets like Coles often run promotions and offer discounted prices, making it more affordable for customers to shop for groceries. Coles also has a loyalty program, providing additional savings and benefits for its customers.
    • Accessibility: Coles stores are present in various locations, including urban and suburban areas, making it easily accessible for most shoppers. They also offer extended operating hours, providing flexibility for customers to shop at their preferred time.
    • Online shopping: Coles provides an online shopping platform, allowing customers to conveniently order their groceries from the comfort of their homes. This can be beneficial for individuals who prefer to avoid crowded spaces or have difficulty physically visiting the store.
    • Product variety: Coles offers a wide range of products, including international and specialty items, giving shoppers a diverse selection to choose from. This can be particularly advantageous for customers seeking specific ingredients or exploring new flavors.

On the other hand, traditional markets also have their own set of advantages and disadvantages:

    • Freshness: Traditional markets often pride themselves on offering fresh and locally sourced produce. Shoppers can find a variety of fruits, vegetables, seafood, and meat that are often sourced directly from farmers or fishermen. This can be particularly appealing for individuals who prioritize high-quality and organic products.
    • Social interaction: Traditional markets provide an opportunity for shoppers to interact with local vendors and build personal connections. It allows customers to ask questions, receive recommendations, and learn more about the origin and production practices of the products they are purchasing.
    • Potential for haggling: In traditional markets, there is often room for negotiation and haggling over prices. Shoppers can try to get a better deal by leveraging their bargaining skills, potentially leading to additional savings.
    • Cultural experience: Traditional markets offer a unique cultural experience, with vibrant displays of local products and flavors. They can provide a sense of authenticity and a glimpse into the local traditions and customs of the community.
    • Availability: Traditional markets may have limitations in terms of product availability, especially when it comes to specialty or international items. They may also have limited operating hours and be located in more specific areas, requiring additional time and effort to access for some customers.

Ultimately, the decision between Coles and traditional markets depends on your personal preferences, priorities, and circumstances. Consider factors such as convenience, price, product variety, freshness, social interaction, and cultural experience to make an informed choice that best suits your needs.

Not as new as some stores but still up there as one of the better ones for layout and size. Parking is easy as its only a short walk inside before the store. Staff are usually pretty friendly and helpful. Its quite a busy store so there can be a bit of a wait for the self serve checkouts and unfortunately like most stores its a small area when there’s trolleys and full of people which can be a bit frustrating. Stock is usually really good with shelves full and regular size isles that aren’t cluttered. They’ve added additional self serve registers that are like regular registers now for when you have larger quantities so it has the belt to put your items on which I definitely like to utilise.

I did a whole trolley of shopping and no checkouts open except for the self service. On asking for a checkout to be opened I was told that there were no spare staff to man it. Eventually a staff member put my shopping through the self service for me instructing me on how to do it. I nicely informed her I had no interest in using the self service now or in the future. Very disappointed customers are being pressured into using the self service. What about the disabled and the elderly ?

Helpful staff. Friendly. Wish there were more checkout people instead of self-serve checkouts mainly operating, especially at busy times.

I went to Coles at San Remo at 8:30 p.m. started to do my shopping and then there was a announcement over the speaker. saying they will be closing in 15 minutes. I didn’t know about the new times and I would definitely wasn’t happy as I couldn’t do all my shopping. Definitely having second thoughts about shopping at Coles ever again. They do not care about their customers they only care about profit$$$$

Can’t say I’ve ever found any reason to complain about this place .. neither the store itself, including the selection of goods, nor the staff. One staff member in particular, Ali/Alison (unsure of spelling) is especially friendly and helpful.

This week I shopped at Coles Stockland. It was busy and I elected to pay by cash. As it was there where checkouts for card only and a couple for cash. Card checkouts where somewhat busy, cash checkouts where in long cues. Why in the world are there card only checkouts?
O, I noticed there where self checkouts. In principal I do not like using them as this puts young people who are entering the workforce out of a job and even though this may only be a job for a short period as they move on, never the less it is a job where they can make a start. But Coles what hypocrites, at the checkout you can buy $2 donations for the homeless. Shameful it is.

Just the fact that far less people seem to shop here, at the times I am there at least (10am or 5pm), is a huge plus for me.
Usually always stock on the shelves, not massive lines at the checkout and can get served straight away at the deli most times.
They have their busiest times I’m sure but this has been my experience.
And Coles is right next to the side access to pialba place which is a awesome convince to get groceries to the car without a huge march through a entire shopping centre comparedto the other coles.
Bakery on site and good range of pey by weight nuts and dietary products.

This Supermarket unfortunately is terrible, never has what you want or if they do it’s not fresh, extremely disappointing an it’s a shame as the Newsagent next door is AMAZING, Coles is letting the businesses around them down!!!

The staff are great but I’m sick to death of the lack of checkout staff. Disabled, pregnant, elderly – there’s NO SUPPORT for. I’m unable to stand and scan my own things. Get a damn priority lane that’s always manned for this. Effing ridiculous

I come to this servo regularly, 3rd time in a row the car wash stopped working part way through the wash cycle. I enquired about this being a constant problem, I understand that things breakdown. The one star goes to the middle aged slob that who lacks empathy with an inability to provide any kind of customer service. .No need to be rude a pig could do your job better

Just been to this store. The clerk had the door locked and people had just tried to enter and as they told me it was closed, we turned and it seems the female service clerk opened them, saying they were always open. They weren’t. The people who were before me asked if they could use the toilet and were told they were out of order. They then asked if she knew where a other public toilet might be and she said she didn’t know. I helped them even though I’m not from here and made a couple of suggestions. They left, I asked for a packet of cheapest cigarettes and she basically grunted at me and said on there, pointing at prices and suggested one. I said something pleasant, and asked long day? She says it not that, I dont like people like that, I said like what, well this time of year she said. She wasn’t making a lot of sense but she was super rude. I suggested she get out of retail if she doesn’t like people and told her to have a good night. She should learn rudeness is not a good trait for a awesome clerk. They and I were not rude until she was.

Nothing too bad. Your standard Coles express store with more expensive items than a supermarket and staff that pretend they care how your day is going.
