Dietitian or Nutritionist: Who to Consult for Your Nutritional Needs?

“Dietitian” and “nutritionist” are often used interchangeably, but there are some key differences between the two, mainly concerning their qualifications and legal restrictions on the terms:

    1. Dietitian: Dietitians are registered professionals who have met specific academic and professional requirements, including earning a bachelor’s degree with approved course work, completing an accredited, supervised practice program, passing a national examination, and completing ongoing continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration. They are regulated by law and ethical codes, which means they’re held to the highest standard of nutrition services. Dietitians can work in various settings, like hospitals, public health clinics, sports organizations, and more. They can prescribe dietary treatments for many conditions such as diabetes, food allergies, or kidney disease.
    2. Nutritionist: The term “nutritionist” is not regulated, which means anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, regardless of their level of training or education. Some nutritionists may have advanced degrees and abundant experience, while others may have minimal formal training. In some areas, nutritionists can become “certified nutrition specialists,” which requires a higher level of education and expertise. They generally provide information about food and healthy eating, but they may not be qualified to prescribe specific dietary treatments for medical conditions.

Always check the credentials of anyone who provides advice on nutrition, especially if you have specific dietary needs due to a medical condition. In many cases, a dietitian is a safer choice due to their regulated status and extensive training.

      OMG
Hello Health is the worst company i have ever dealt with. Not only are they not honest they tell lies. I placed an order for a product 7 weeks ago. I was told the New Zealand supplier was in process of shipping to Australia and I would have my order in 1-2 weeks. 2 weeks elapsed and no call from Hello Health. I called asking for an update week 3. I was told by James the delivery was delayed and should definitely arrive the following week. 1 more week elapsed still no call from Hello Health. I called again on Friday end if week 4. An assistant said James unavailable. Eventually i got hold of James. He then tells me a story that his NZ supplier forgot to ship the product I was after in the shipment he received from NZ so no calling me back with this information i had to relentlessly chase this company. Then week 6 James told me the product I ordered will be there definitely next week
Its now week 7 a Friday June 2
No call from Hello Health James is not working this week and a staff member said this product was on back order contradicting what James had said

**** DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY *******

Very deceitful I have to say and extremely poor customer service

I highly recommend both Ellen and Lauren. Ellen has recently helped me with my excess weight issues and now I have not only achieved my overall weight goal, but am feeling so much happier and healthier. I have a lot more energy and confidence. Lauren has also been a saviour to me over the last 12 months, giving me advice to help overcome my injuries. Instead of filling my body with chemical based medications, Lauren has suggested more holistic natural options which believe it or not actually help! Thank you ladies

I went to see Ellen when I was feeling tired, stressed and in need of change. 3 weeks later after following a plan she put in place, I couldn’t even tell you how much better I felt and I am still continuing to feel. Ellen is warm, a wonderful listener and was incredibly supportive throughout the time I went to see her. Would highly recommend to any-one needing to reduce stress and seeking greater wellbeing!

I injured my back last year and needed to loose excess weight to help recovery. I had tried may diets to no avail. I seen Ellen and lost 12kg on her 42 day program, Ellen was so supportive, it’s been 15 months since doing the program and have kept the weight off. Thank you Ellen

      Hi Ellen,

Just wanted to let you know I had a great experience following the leaky gut diet. I was previously having to take some kind of anti-acid treatment like gaviscon or quickeze every single night to prevent acid reflux, and having a “regular” system seemed like something that happened to other people. Doctors were helpful and wanted to prescribe medication. But I wanted to try a change in diet first and I’m very glad I did

If you are feeling unwell, unhealthy, a bit lethargic, low on energy, just feeling not so great -like I was, I would highly recommend going and seeking help from Lauren and Ellen. They make a fantastic team and I have found their advice and recommendations so helpful.

Jeremy is a star. Best coaching you can get on the island; approachable, educated, thorough, patient, and very attentive to the specific goals. Not judgmental, supportive, and great in embedding you into the weightlifting and powerlifting culture and community if you’re interested at all. Under Jeremy’s guidance, I went from “I want to learn how to use a bar” to being a powerlifting referee and very involved in the sport and its culture. I am a strong unit now.
