Canberra ( KAN-bər-ə) is the capital city of Australia. Founded following the federation of the colonies of Australia as the seat of government for the new nation, it is Australia's largest inland city and the eighth-largest Australian city overall. The city is located at the northern end of the Australian Capital Territory at the northern tip of the Australian Alps, the country's highest mountain range. As of June 2022, Canberra's estimated population was 456,692.The area chosen for the capital had been inhabited by Aboriginal Australians for up to 21,000 years, by groups including the Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngambri. European settlement commenced in the first half of the 19th century, as evidenced by surviving landmarks such as St John's Anglican Church and Blundells Cottage. On 1 January 1901, federation of the colonies of Australia was achieved. Following a long dispute over whether Sydney or Melbourne should be the national capital, a compromise was reached: the new capital would be built in New South Wales, so long as it was at least 100 mi (160 km) from Sydney. The capital city was founded and formally named as Canberra in 1913. A plan by the American architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin was selected after an international design contest, and construction commenced in 1913. Unusual among Australian cities, it is an entirely planned city. The Griffins' plan featured geometric motifs and was centred on axes aligned with significant topographical landmarks such as Black Mountain, Mount Ainslie, Capital Hill and City Hill. Canberra's mountainous location makes it the only mainland Australian city where snow-capped mountains can be seen in winter; although snow in the city itself is uncommon.
As the seat of the Government of Australia, Canberra is home to many important institutions of the federal government, national monuments and museums. This includes Parliament House, Government House, the High Court building and the headquarters of numerous government agencies. It is the location of many social and cultural institutions of national significance such as the Australian War Memorial, the Australian National University, the Royal Australian Mint, the Australian Institute of Sport, the National Gallery, the National Museum and the National Library. The city is home to many important institutions of the Australian Defence Force including the Royal Military College Duntroon and the Australian Defence Force Academy. It hosts all foreign embassies in Australia as well as regional headquarters of many international organisations, not-for-profit groups, lobbying groups and professional associations.
Canberra has been ranked among the world's best cities to live in and visit. Although the Commonwealth Government remains the largest single employer in Canberra, it is no longer the majority employer. Other major industries have developed in the city, including in health care, professional services, education and training, retail, accommodation and food, and construction. Compared to the national averages, the unemployment rate is lower and the average income higher; tertiary education levels are higher, while the population is younger. At the 2016 Census, 32% of Canberra's inhabitants were reported as having been born overseas.Canberra's design is influenced by the garden city movement and incorporates significant areas of natural vegetation. Its design can be viewed from its highest point at the Telstra Tower and the summit of Mount Ainslie. Other notable features include the National Arboretum, born out of the 2003 Canberra bushfires, and Lake Burley Griffin, named for Walter Burley Griffin. Highlights in the annual calendar of cultural events include Floriade, the largest flower festival in the Southern Hemisphere, the Enlighten Festival, Skyfire, the National Multicultural Festival and Summernats. Canberra's main sporting venues are Canberra Stadium and Manuka Oval. The city is served with domestic and international flights at Canberra Airport, while interstate train and coach services depart from Canberra railway station and the Jolimont Centre respectively. City Interchange is the main hub of Canberra's bus and light rail transport network.

I would throughly recommend Hays, I worked as a contractor through them for 6 months, and worked hard enough to secure a permanent role at my assignment. The whole process is no fuss, and they can find you work very fast. I was paid on time no problems, and had the invitation to call the office if I had any dramas. I had Aedan as my case manager, he’s a true gentleman and very efficient at what he does. As long as you are willing to put in the work, Hays will give you the opportunity.

Very professional looking building and set up indeed, so many recruitment staff in Hays it’s incredible really.

The process is a bit odd though, the police check can take months, by this time Hays has given up on you. The processes completed by an external business (workpro i think?), again, can take months, but by then Hays staff have no interest in you or won’t be putting you forward for the role. These things are out of the hands of the applicant. They want you to be able to start the job soon but then put in place processes that make this impossible. No doubt once they are completed, other jobs are available to apply for, but by then the recruitment staff who decide if you are applicable for roles, and therefore put you forward or decide not to, are less likely or inclined to put applicants forward.

And why are these staff always so young? Helping people get into jobs whilst working their first job seems like salt in the wound to me.

I engaged Hays to assist with finding work for a relocation to Canberra. Olinda helped organize several applications and was very responsive to any queries. Although I ended up proceeding with a role via another agency, Hays were very professional about it and offered to reach out before my contract ends in case I had need of their services. Overall, great experience.

I cannot speak highly enough about recruitment consultant, Jayde. Jayde was professional and competent in her dealings in matching me with suitable contract work. She was knowledgeable about the opportunities available and the varying recruitment processes of government departments (including likely timeframes for filling advertised positions). Jayde was well spoken, approachable and answered all my questions regarding the recruitment process. She kept me up to date on the progress of my application – even contacting me on her first day of leave. Jayde followed up on things as promised which has not always been my experience with other consultants. Based on my experience, I would use Hays Canberra again to seek future contracting opportunities.

Melbourne ( MEL-bərn; Boonwurrung/Woiwurrung: Narrm or Naarm) is the capital of the Australian state of Victoria and the second-most populous city in Australia, after Sydney (although the most populous by contiguous urban area). Its name generally refers to a 9,993 km2 (3,858 sq mi) metropolitan area known as Greater Melbourne, comprising an urban agglomeration of 31 local municipalities, although the name is also used specifically for the local municipality of City of Melbourne based around its central business area.
The metropolis occupies much of the northern and eastern coastlines of Port Phillip Bay and spreads into the Mornington Peninsula, part of West Gippsland, as well as the hinterlands towards the Yarra Valley, the Dandenong Ranges, and the Macedon Ranges. Melbourne has a population over 5 million (19% of the population of Australia, as of the 2021 census), mostly residing to the east of the city centre, and its inhabitants are commonly referred to as "Melburnians".The area of Melbourne has been home to Aboriginal Victorians for over 40,000 years and serves as an important meeting place for local Kulin nation clans. Of the five peoples of the Kulin nation, the traditional custodians of the land encompassing Melbourne are the Boonwurrung, Wathaurong and the Wurundjeri peoples. A short-lived penal settlement was built in 1803 at Port Phillip, then part of the British colony of New South Wales. However, it was not until 1835, with the arrival of free settlers from Van Diemen's Land (modern-day Tasmania), that Melbourne was founded. It was incorporated as a Crown settlement in 1837, and named after William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne, who was then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In 1851, four years after Queen Victoria declared it a city, Melbourne became the capital of the new colony of Victoria. During the 1850s Victorian gold rush, the city entered a lengthy boom period that, by the late 1880s, had transformed it into one of the world's largest and wealthiest metropolises. After the federation of Australia in 1901, Melbourne served as the interim seat of government of the new nation until Canberra became the permanent capital in 1927. Today, it is a leading financial centre in the Asia-Pacific region and ranked 32nd globally in the March 2022 Global Financial Centres Index.Melbourne is home of many of Australia's best-known landmarks, such as the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the National Gallery of Victoria and the World Heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building. Noted for its cultural heritage, the city gave rise to Australian rules football, Australian impressionism and Australian cinema, and has more recently been recognised as a UNESCO City of Literature and a global centre for street art, live music and theatre. It hosts major annual international events, such as the Australian Grand Prix and the Australian Open, and also hosted the 1956 Summer Olympics. Melbourne consistently ranked as the world's most liveable city for much of the 2010s.Melbourne Airport, also known as the Tullamarine Airport, is the second-busiest airport in Australia, and the Port of Melbourne is the nation's busiest seaport. Its main metropolitan rail terminus is Flinders Street station and its main regional rail and road coach terminus is Southern Cross station. It also has Australia's most extensive freeway network and the largest urban tram network in the world.

I have the pleasure of having mikaela help me at max employment, after being sick and out of action for about a year she gave me the confidence to put myself out there again, helped me get back up on my feet and do everything I wouldn’t have been able to do on my own, helped me get clothes, get interviews, redo my resume and on going support. I can not thank the whole team at max employment enough for the help and support they have given me and still proceed to give, being an older man and not being to savvy with technology these days can seem to be out of reach. I always look forward to our calls and catch ups. Max employment Cranbourne you rock !! Thank you so much Colin burkitt

Adelaide ( AD-il-ayd, locally [ˈædɜlæɪ̯d]; Kaurna: Tarntanya, pronounced [ˈd̪̥aɳɖaɲa]) is the capital city of South Australia, the state's largest city and the fifth-most populous city in Australia. "Adelaide" may refer to either Greater Adelaide (including the Adelaide Hills) or the Adelaide city centre. The demonym Adelaidean is used to denote the city and the residents of Adelaide. The Traditional Owners of the Adelaide region are the Kaurna. The area of the city centre and surrounding Park Lands is called Tarndanya in the Kaurna language.Adelaide is situated on the Adelaide Plains north of the Fleurieu Peninsula, between the Gulf St Vincent in the west and the Mount Lofty Ranges in the east. Its metropolitan area extends 20 km (12 mi) from the coast to the foothills of the Mount Lofty Ranges, and stretches 96 km (60 mi) from Gawler in the north to Sellicks Beach in the south.
Named in honour of Queen Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen, wife of King William IV, the city was founded in 1836 as the planned capital for the only freely-settled British province in Australia. Colonel William Light, one of Adelaide's founding fathers, designed the city centre and chose its location close to the River Torrens. Light's design, now listed as national heritage, set out the city centre in a grid layout known as "Light's Vision", interspaced by wide boulevards and large public squares, and entirely surrounded by park lands.
Early colonial Adelaide was shaped by the diversity and wealth of its free settlers, in contrast to the convict history of other Australian cities. It was Australia's third most populated city until the post-war era. It has been noted for its leading examples of religious freedom and progressive political reforms, and became known as the "City of Churches" due to its diversity of faiths. Today, Adelaide is known by its many festivals and sporting events, its food and wine, its coastline and hills, its large defence and manufacturing sectors and its emerging space sector, including the Australian Space Agency being headquartered here. Adelaide's quality of life has ranked consistently highly in various measures through the 21st century, at one stage being named Australia's most liveable city.As South Australia's government and commercial centre, Adelaide is the site of many governmental and financial institutions. Most of these are concentrated in the city centre along the cultural boulevards of North Terrace and King William Street.

Don’t believe that years of hard , high quality work for this company will earn you any mutual respect from any of the Hays Adelaide team.

From my own personal experience with Hays (around 19 years)… I’m left with the opinion that –

      * PD’s don’t reflect actual role

*they doesn’t reflect the employer’s expectations of you, the contractor

*they won’t follow up with any issues you have as a contractor, once you’re in a role, earning them money

*& importantly, the actual expectation of the employer does not reflect in the pay that Hay’s provides you with as a contractor.

Stay clear at any cost (and if you’re still curious, search Hays underpayments case on Google. It took a class action for Hays to admit their errors & cost them $30 million dollars)

I wouldn’t have given the one star, if zero stars was an option.

Had a bad experience with Hays many years back and thought I would try again to see if I could get help re a position here in Adelaide. Went into Hays and was interviewed and told I would be put forward for a position with Public Trustees and that someone else would also call me with regards to a position. How I thought things had changed but to my disappointment I did get a call re cold calling for membership to a sporting organization. I turned this down as I said I am one who does not enjoy having these cold calls to me and said I would not like doing it to others. Then I was told that I was still going to be put forward for this Public Trustee position and the PD would be sent to me. This now was another day passed after being told it was going to happen the day of the interview. Now it is possibly 3 going 4 weeks later and never received the PD or any follow up re the position. Feel now nothing has changed very disappointed.

It was such a bad experience. I have been looking for the job and one day a consultant named Manthan calls me and asks me if I am interested in this job. To which, I replied yes and he took my CV and details but never replied back. Not even on email. I had a very bad experience

Western Australia (commonly abbreviated as WA) is a state of Australia occupying the western third of the land area of Australia, excluding external territories. It is bounded by the Indian Ocean to the north and west, the Southern Ocean to the south, the Northern Territory to the north-east, and South Australia to the south-east. Western Australia is Australia's largest state, with a total land area of 2,527,013 square kilometres (975,685 sq mi). It is the second-largest country subdivision in the world, surpassed only by Russia's Sakha Republic. As of 2021, the state has 2.76 million inhabitants—11 percent of the national total. The vast majority (92 percent) live in the south-west corner; 79 percent of the population lives in the Perth area, leaving the remainder of the state sparsely populated.
The first Europeans to visit Western Australia belonged to the Dutch Dirk Hartog expedition, who visited the Western Australian coast in 1616. The first permanent European colony of Western Australia occurred following the landing by Major Edmund Lockyer on 26 December 1826 of an expedition on behalf of the New South Wales colonial government. Lockyer established a convict-supported military garrison at King George III Sound, at present-day Albany, and on 21 January 1827 he formally took possession for the British Crown of the western part of the continent that was not already claimed by the Crown. This was followed by the establishment of the Swan River Colony in 1829, including the site of the present-day capital, Perth.
York was the first inland settlement in Western Australia. Situated 97 kilometres (60 miles) east of Perth, it was settled on 16 September 1831. Western Australia achieved responsible government in 1890 and federated with the other British colonies in Australia in 1901.
Today, Western Australia's economy mainly relies on mining, oil and gas, services and construction. The state produces 46 percent of Australia's exports. Western Australia is the largest iron ore producer in the world. Its nickname is "The Wildflower State".

Robert Half have been great to work with from when I first contacted them to now (Nearly a year). Throughout my entire time working with Robert Half, I’ve dealt solely with Amber Nickson who has been great. She has always been very honest about both the roles and companies that I’ve interviewed for and the ones that I’ve worked for. Not only has Amber been great in assisting with the interview and acceptance process, but she has also been great with checking in to make sure that everything is going well. I look forward to continuing to work with both Amber and Robert Half going forward.

SMAART were a pleasure to go through the recruitment process with, both Jess and Bailey were exceptionally supportive and understanding of me throughout the recruitment process and really helped me in having the confidence to nail my interviews and land a position I am incredibly passionate about, beyond this they frequently checked in on me and how I was feeling in the lead up to my first day. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Both Jess and Bailey were also incredibly LGBTQI+ friendly and helped me feel very welcome and like I was being given a fair chance. 10 Stars

I met with Laura and Ella at MJD Recruitment about a month ago now. Within a day of interviewing with them, I had an interview for a great temporary role and was subsequently offered the position – an immediate turnaround. They have both been excellent at communicating with me and have been super responsive answering any questions I had. The whole process was professional and seamless. I am so appreciative.

By far, the best recruitment agency I’ve dealt with since moving to Melbourne and I would (& have done!) recommend them to anybody.

I recently worked with the MJD team for a job search and was extremely impressed with the service I was provided. From the initial contact to securing the job and even subsequent follow up part way into my first year, I felt was seamless and professional.

The team understood my industry and took the time to really listen to my career goals and previous experiences at other organisations. Unlike some other agencies I’ve worked with in the past I felt they offered me a lot more ability to dictate a the direction we moved in, where necessary.

Communication was great, lots of opportunities and rationale behind the choices, and any necessary preparations for interviews. I think the personable approach and transparency set MJD apart in the industry.

I highly recommend MJD to anyone seeking a new role. Although happy in my current placement, I feel confident that if things were to change, MJD will be there for supporting a new venture.

MJD recruitment stands out as the most exceptional recruiter I’ve ever encountered. They demonstrate proficiency, professionalism, and consistently respond promptly. A special shout-out to Katie and Lacey, the two brilliant ladies who provided unwavering support throughout the entire recruitment process. They attentively listened to my needs and feedback, promptly taking appropriate action. I wouldn’t have secured such an incredible job without their assistance. If you are searching for a new role, look nowhere else. Rest assured that you are in capable hands.

From our initial conversation to the moment I secured the position, Michael’s guidance and help was invaluable. He took the time to understand my aspirations and needs, and gave me an opportunity to meet with my boss. Michael was very professional, kind and approachable which made the entire experience seamless and enjoyable. This is my first experience getting a job with a recruiter and I can say I would definitely be happy to go through Michael again. I can not thank you enough for your pivotal role in helping me secure this incredible management position.
