      Laurel Bank Park is a beautiful parkland close to Toowoomba’s city centre, featuring spectacular manicured gardens, a collection of exotic trees, a playground, picnic area, and croquet greens. Beautiful year-round, but known for its sublime spring displays and avenues of cherry blossoms, it is most magnificent during Carnival of Flowers each September. The park came into being in 1932 when Darling Downs Building Society Managing Director, Mr Samuel George Stephens, donated the land to the people of Toowoomba, with the City Council official custodian. Prior to gifting the land, Mr Stephens improved it with shrubs and flowers, and was known to many as ‘the man of flowers’.

      A wonderful park. You can easily see love and care in this beautiful park. It’s great to see people enjoying the multiple spaces and themes. Do yourself a favour and take some time out to take a stroll through or just relax in this special place.

      A beautiful park especially in September during the Carnival of Flowers. There are plenty of spots for a picnic blanket or grab a picnic table. Options for full sun/part shade/full shade. BBQs, restrooms, playground and plenty of gardens to explore. Full accessibility on paths and a great sensory garden too. Dog-friendly too.

      Really spectacular floral displays and other interesting features. I’ve been once during the festival of flowers so I can’t say what it would look outside of this time but I imagine it still looks great as there’s plenty of attractive trees, plants and features. It would probably be a great picnic spot.

      Beautiful gardens with lots of different flowers to see. The best time to go is September with the carnival of flowers on. Plenty of parking space during the week day Lots of green areas to have a picnic on the grass. Bbq areas and toilets are close by. There is a playground close by to. Good place for the whole family. Wheelchair friendly as well. Highly recommend going to have a look. ??

      The place is really small. I wasn’t expecting a huge park but it was smaller than I imagined. The queue for taking photos with koalas was huge and if you were the last in the line you will have to probably wait for an hour. Otherwise it wasn’t that busy. Kudos to the ladies that take pictures. You really need a lot of patience.

      From the moment we stepped into Kuranda Koala Gardens, it was clear that we were in for a treat. The gardens provide a serene setting that brings you face-to-face with some of Australia’s most beloved animals. The koalas are the undeniable stars here, and the opportunity to see them up close, munching on eucalyptus leaves or snoozing in the crooks of trees, is genuinely heartwarming.

      Not only are the koala encounters memorable, but the chance to meet and learn about wallabies, wombats, and a variety of reptiles adds to the experience. The staff are passionate about their work and the welfare of the animals, offering insightful information about each species’ habits and conservation status.

      The gardens are well-maintained, and the layout ensures an intimate experience, avoiding the feeling of a commercial zoo. It’s an educational and engaging visit for both kids and adults, fostering a deep appreciation for Australian wildlife.

      We left the gardens with a camera full of pictures, a heart full of joy, and a deeper understanding of the importance of conservation efforts. Kuranda Koala Gardens is a must-visit for anyone looking to embrace the unique charm of Australia’s fauna.

      The main attraction is the chance to hold a koala. That was good. The rest of the gardens has crocs, wombats, snakes, and some kangaroos. Every single animal was asleep!

      It’s a nice experience! The place is small, but has interesting animals for non Aussies. I think it could be cheaper as it is a quick entertainment. You can view the place in half an hour. For people willing to pay extra, there’s an opportunity to take a photo holding a koala.

      Nice experience with the ability to get up close to some Australian critters. I was actually taken aback at the lack of pens and fences. The animals were very active! It was small but well done. We opted to go to Bird World after as well (that is a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ experience!).

      As environmentally concerned Tasmanians we thought this tour was so worthwhile. The individual stories of the raptors & how they came to be here was so interesting & also appalling for some of them. The education centre was particularly informative & hands on. Our young guide was devoted & inspirational & her love for the raptors was clearly obvious. Our favourite was dapper “Bob” ? The owner has a true passion for educating business, government & individuals in an endeavour to save these amazing creatures. We would encourage young & old to visit or support this worthy facility Yvonne & Wayne

      I really enjoyed the opportunity to visit Raptor Refuge. They provide a safe haven for birds of prey that would no longer survive in the wild, together with doing their best to rehabilitate as many birds as possible. I appreciate the work they are doing for wildlife.

      The operators of this refuge also advise on what the public can do to prevent harm to these amazing birds. This is important to ensuring the survival of Tasmania’s diverse wildlife.

      First visit to this botanical garden. It is a compact but full of variety of flora in this garden. Most of plants, flowers and shrubs cam be found here. However, as i m not a botanist, i may be wrong. Surely, it is dilligently arranged based by climatic zone. It also has temperature controlled room for tropical one. Tho, it has less green area to sit down and picnic inside the garden but outside, it has plenty room. 2 car parks on the side of enterance door. Surely it is recommended for anyone including for relaxation and learning even just jogging.

      Fever Candlelight Concert – Geelong West Town Hall Always high quality show – great value as well. This is a great venue because parking is easy and it’s close to lots of great spots to eat as well

The multitude of events, shows and attractions include dingo encounters, free flight bird shows and feeding of the park's massive saltwater crocodile. The park also contains a serious aspect of its work and exhibits, and behind the scenes includes a state-of-the-art veterinary and rehabilitation hospital. The sanctuary was opened as the Currumbin Bird Sanctuary by Alex Griffiths in 1947 as a scheme to stop the local lorikeet population destroying his flower plantations. The lorikeets still flock to the sanctuary twice daily to be fed by visitors. The sanctuary now houses one of the largest collections of Australian native species in the world. Exhibits include Tasmanian devils, a reptile house and in December 2017 the sanctuary opened their new exotics precinct Lost Valley which is home to lemurs, red pandas, capybara, cotton-top tamarins, tree kangaroos and one of largest walk-through aviary in the Southern Hemisphere with free flying birds. The sanctuary also has a miniature railway that has been operating since 1964. In May 2011, the hospital has appealed for donations and government support as it faces a funding shortage that may force it to turn away injured wildlife.

      Pretty wild and rough, which is good for wildlife lovers. I found loads of bird species, some kangaroo and other plenty of others that I could hear but just didn’t have enough time to stop and find.

      The trails are not clearly marked, so you’ll have to use landmarks to remember which way you came in.

      The Mount Taylor Nature Reserve is beautiful, with panoramic views of Woden Valley to the north, the Tuggeranong Valley to the south and the Brindabella Range to the west (I’m sure there’s something to the east too).

      Named after James Taylor – not the guy who sings ‘Fire and Rain’, but a squatter, who with his partner Robert Johnson established a sheep run on the Molonglo River in the early 1800s (thanks to Dave’s ACT blog for this info)

      There are several ways to get to the top, and as you make your way up, don’t forget to pause to catch your breath (necessary in parts) and perhaps catch sight of some kangaroos, and a variety of birds and reptiles.

      Your heart will certainly be pumping by the time you reach the top. However, if you are looking for a little more, someone has gaffa taped a piece of wood on the cross beam to make chin-ups more comfortable.

      Finally, don’t forget to bring water. There is a bowl for the dogs, but not for the humans. Although I’ve lobbied for a cafe/ice-cream shop at the top for years, my calls have gone unanswered.

      Mount Taylor is one of the famous landmark of Canberra. The walking trail consists of multiple routes with steep and rocky path. You can walk up-to the hill with Kangaroos on your side.

      Came across this wonderful reserve today and so glad we did. It’s beautifully maintained, with many walking tracks, sheltered seating areas, alongside BBQ areas, clean restrooms & various shelters that you can book in advance. The well constructed walkways take you amongst the trees, where you can see an amazing variety of animals. At the pond, we stopped and were thrilled to see many tortoises, trying to camouflage themselves amongst the underwater habitat. There is also a well constructed playground with lots of tactile activities for the kids. A perfect spot for the whole family! ???

      What a great area, always drove past to/from work but never knew what it was. Great for kids parties, large grass area, playground and BBQ areas. Parking is $14 for the day but entry to see animals is free so well worth it. Also lots of bushwalks, get amongst it!

      Good place to take the whole family with play ground, walking trails, electric barbecues, park benches and tables, paid under cover shelter and even a kiosk (closed when we visited on a Tuesday). Nicely maintained and kept clean. Entry is free but there are parking metres out in the parking lot with minum fee of $5. There’s a duck pond located just after the well maintained lawn near the entrance with peacocks and wild turkeys roaming the grounds even out in the car park area. In the enclosed animal enclosures there are wallabies, kangaroos and emus.

      The last time I had been here was close to a decade ago. The amount of effort put in to upgrade the facilities and cleanup the water quality in the main pond is phenomenal. Highly recommend this place for eating a takeaway lunch or just quiet contemplation during the week. Not so quiet on weekends or holidays.
