I put the call out for quotes on a levelling and turfing job, Jessie from Cairns Property was all over it. Sam came out, had a look, got a great quote a couple of days later. Not the cheapest, but promised more bang for my money, Now 2 days later, l have a gentle slope in my front yard. The mower used to bottom out if l wasn’t careful . It won’t now. The preparation that was carried out before the turf was laid was perfect. Sam has a really good eye for that stuff. The turf has been laid, and it’s AWESOME ? A big thank- you to everyone involved. WELL DONE ??

Found the whole process in dealing with Cairns Property Services to be easy to manage. Contact was simple and Jessie worked with me to arrive at a cleaning solution and date that suited me. The final clean was completed without needed to refer back to me and end product was great. Would recommend their service for a bond clean and carpet clean for sure.

Firstly, amazing communication & super quick at answering messages, gave a detailed quote as well. Came & did the job, & returned the following morning for a few things the real estate requested (very happy with how quickly & easily that was organised!)

I was already almost interstate after moving out so the communication was a huge bonus and made the whole process so much easier. They also sent me some photos of the finished product at my request due to me not being able to go see in person. Highly recommend!

(and I’ve had bad experiences with lease cleaners before so this was great)

YHA Ltd, trading as YHA Australia, is a not-for-profit of members trading corporation providing hostel and other accommodation, travel and associated service in Australia. It is a member organisation of Hostelling International.
YHA Ltd became a management and director controlled corporation with managers and directors now controlling the selection of successive directors and directors being able to appoint a least one-third of their number without election Directors may profit from payments but ordinary members are not entitled to a share of profits or assets. Profits are not necessarily spent or re-invested in the network of hostels or the provision of accommodation and services to members. The founder of the youth hostel movement, Richard Schirrmann, took youths away from the conditions of factories and cities to experience the countryside on foot and by bicycle and, in winter, on skis and skates, finding accommodation in barns, houses, school buildings and later designated hostels in the countryside. In the 1960s, YHA NSW recognised eight principles including "2) Every encouragement should be given to those who travel by their own effort whether they travel by foot, bicycle, canoe, horse or row or sail", "3) Hostellers should be encouraged to enjoy the bush" and "4) Rural industries ... could be visited".In recent decades, the Australian organisation changed focus and closed many hostels in rural areas and concentrated on providing travel accommodation in major tourist destinations, particularly large accommodation in metropolitan areas and coastal cities and towns where accommodation was already readily supplied. While still using the name YHA (Youth Hostels Association), the organisation no longer has a focus on providing accommodation for youths and now provides accommodation regardless of age. At the same time, the types of accommodation provided has changed from hostel to include hotel-style rooms and suites and self-contained accommodation. Having accumulated large debts on city and prime tourist location properties, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic decline in travel revenue, the organisation was forced to sell more hostels, many well below their account book value, with nineteen hostels closed.

Made my time in Cairns incredible!

This hostel exceeded all expectations, the atmosphere was inviting and it was easy to settle in and make friends as a solo traveller! The reception staff were lovely and did everything they could to help out and make my stay as good as possible! On top of that, the hostel bar might have been the best part! The bar manager Jess was so friendly, helping everyone to feel included, with games and even a really good pub crawl at the end of every week!

And when my time here was coming to an end the hostel Travel desk were super helpful when it came to planning my move!

I can’t thank this hostel and it’s staff more! loved my stay, recommend to everyone heading to Cairns and will definitely be back!

Seems like more a place for if you’re staying long term in Cairns. Or perhaps if you just want to party and don’t care about anything else. Place was not very clean and quite smelly. Powerpoints in room didn’t work. Only 1 toilet shared between 2 dorms and 2 private rooms. Big kitchen and breakfast was good.

Someone also used a key to come into our private room in the middle of the night. Weird. Plenty of nicer hostels to stay at in Cairns

The perfect hostel for any backpacker. Being a solo traveller im always looking for a hostel that has a good social, and this spot was perfect. it has daily activities and a huge common area with a pool that’s cleaned daily, or if you did want some private time there’s outdoor beds which were good for napping or just good for recharging the social battery. Every evening the bar opens up and the common area gets packed, making it the perfect place to mingle and meet some unexpected friends, some of which were the staff as they’re always around to help. As the hostel has its own bar, there were a couple mornings where I felt rough but waking up to American style pancakes every morning is definitely a luxury I was getting used to, sorting me out for the day Definitely going to stay here again when i come back to cairns!!! Big up the mad monkey team!!

The place is really small. I wasn’t expecting a huge park but it was smaller than I imagined. The queue for taking photos with koalas was huge and if you were the last in the line you will have to probably wait for an hour. Otherwise it wasn’t that busy. Kudos to the ladies that take pictures. You really need a lot of patience.

From the moment we stepped into Kuranda Koala Gardens, it was clear that we were in for a treat. The gardens provide a serene setting that brings you face-to-face with some of Australia’s most beloved animals. The koalas are the undeniable stars here, and the opportunity to see them up close, munching on eucalyptus leaves or snoozing in the crooks of trees, is genuinely heartwarming.

Not only are the koala encounters memorable, but the chance to meet and learn about wallabies, wombats, and a variety of reptiles adds to the experience. The staff are passionate about their work and the welfare of the animals, offering insightful information about each species’ habits and conservation status.

The gardens are well-maintained, and the layout ensures an intimate experience, avoiding the feeling of a commercial zoo. It’s an educational and engaging visit for both kids and adults, fostering a deep appreciation for Australian wildlife.

We left the gardens with a camera full of pictures, a heart full of joy, and a deeper understanding of the importance of conservation efforts. Kuranda Koala Gardens is a must-visit for anyone looking to embrace the unique charm of Australia’s fauna.

The main attraction is the chance to hold a koala. That was good. The rest of the gardens has crocs, wombats, snakes, and some kangaroos. Every single animal was asleep!

It’s a nice experience! The place is small, but has interesting animals for non Aussies. I think it could be cheaper as it is a quick entertainment. You can view the place in half an hour. For people willing to pay extra, there’s an opportunity to take a photo holding a koala.

Nice experience with the ability to get up close to some Australian critters. I was actually taken aback at the lack of pens and fences. The animals were very active! It was small but well done. We opted to go to Bird World after as well (that is a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ experience!).

The population as of the 2021 census was 169,312, having grown on average 1.02% annually over the preceding five years. The city is the 5th-most-populous in Queensland, and 15th in Australia. The city was founded in 1876 and named after Sir William Wellington Cairns, following the discovery of gold in the Hodgkinson river. Throughout the late 19th century, Cairns prospered from the settlement of Chinese immigrants who helped develop the region's agriculture. Cairns also served as a port for blackbirding ships, which crews transported slaves and indentured labourers to the sugar plantations of Innisfail. During World War II, the city became a staging ground for the Allied Forces in the Battle of the Coral Sea. By the late 20th century the city had become a centre of international tourism. In the early 21st century it has developed into a major metropolitan city.
The economy of Cairns is based primarily on tourism, healthcare and education, along with a major capacity in aviation, marine and defence industries.
The city has a gross regional product at about $10.2 billion. The city is served by Cairns International Airport, the seventh busiest airport in Australia. Cairns also has a major cruise ship industry servicing both domestic and international markets, with terminals at Cairns Seaport and Cairns Wharf Complex.
Cairns is a major tourist destination, with access to two UNESCO world heritage sites; the Daintree Rainforest as part of the Wet Tropics of Queensland, and the Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

Worth the visit just to experience and DEFINITELY worth the visit if you’re shopping for fresh produce. Wow, really wish we had something like this where I live that isn’t a commercial grocer.

All I wanted was some fresh fruit as a snack and I was not disappointed. Fantastic!

There are also vendors with prepared food, coffee, clothing, jewelry, gifts. A nice place to support locals.

Excellent selection of tropical fruits, especially jackfruit and bananas. Highly recommend the monkey bananas. We came back 2 weekends in a row just for the fruits.

The Thai raw papaya salad is awesome, as are the quiches from Frenchies!

      Veges usually overpriced.

I’ve been interested in buying an electric bike for a long time. I walked into this shop and admitted to the owner I had no idea what I was looking for. He took the time to ask me questions and then went through all of the options. It was the best service I’ve ever had. Then to top it off, he delivered the bike on the same day and spent another 45 minutes explaining all the features. Also – first service is free!! Such an amazing business and Oliver was great!

This is a great bicycle shop with an amazing owner. Oliver is a great person and helped me on such short notice. I went to Cairns for the IRONMAN in June 2023 and my bike was delayed by Qantas. My bike ultimately arrived on late Friday night and Oliver helped me set up the bike early Saturday morning with enough time to check in the bike to transition on Saturday afternoon. After the race, they came to my hotel room at the Hilton to disassemble the bike. Overall, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend this bike shop to everyone visiting Cairns.

I’m currently a student staying short term in Cairns and this place is the local gym. They wouldn’t do a trial or short-term membership while I am here and wanted $15 a day to train. Staff were polite but students are coming and going in this city and this company needs to find a better means for memberships on a short term basis instead of money gauging students. Be aware if staying short term!

A very mediocre gym, nothing special about it. I had to use it as a one time pass just because I was in the area that day. I wouldn’t go back there, it didn’t feel like a modern gym. It’s outdated, missing lots of accessories and it’s just doesn’t feel comfortable in there. Oh also, bring your own towel policy is ridiculous. I’ve seen this rule only in Cairns, Australia; and nowhere else in the world I’ve been.

It’s very well located but are missing many basic training elements.Sometimes I have to spend 10 minutes looking for the ONLY anklet there is. That among other things. The staff could be more friendly.

What a disgrace. Encourage five day free trials and then turn their nose up when you arrive to take them up on their offer. I was a genuine customer who will likely become a permanent resident in under a week yet they couldn’t see their way clear to offer me five days to see if I like the facilities? Thanks! I’ll take my business elsewhere

So bad , They kick me out of the gym just because I’m wearing a slipper. I’m baring my towel for public use so the is make sense but a slipper I don’t understand at all I stand on my feet all time and no one is will touch my feet anyway, so I don’t what is the problem at all and also they point a finger at my face and tell me to leave, I mean it a mean thing to do to strangers. And I has been to another gym or another genesis gym. I do not recommend this gym at all, is has so many gym more that better than this and cheaper than this. This is the worst gym ever!!!
