Hamilton (Māori: Kirikiriroa) is an inland city in the North Island of New Zealand. Located on the banks of the Waikato River, it is the seat and most populous city of the Waikato region. With a territorial population of 185,300, it is the country's fourth most-populous city. Encompassing a land area of about 110 km2 (42 sq mi), Hamilton is part of the wider Hamilton Urban Area, which also encompasses the nearby towns of Ngāruawāhia, Te Awamutu and Cambridge. In 2020, Hamilton was awarded the title of most beautiful large city in New Zealand. The area now covered by the city was originally the site of several Māori villages, including Kirikiriroa, from which the city takes its Māori name. By the time English settlers arrived, most of these villages, which sat beside the Waikato River, were abandoned as a result of the Invasion of Waikato and land confiscation (Raupatu) by the Crown.
Initially an agricultural service centre, Hamilton now has a diverse economy and is the third fastest growing urban area in New Zealand, behind Pukekohe and Auckland. Hamilton Gardens is the region's most popular tourist attraction. Education and research and development play an important part in Hamilton's economy, as the city is home to approximately 40,000 tertiary students and 1,000 PhD-qualified scientists.

Kiddy friendly! The program for toddlers on a Tuesday is phenomenal! We’ll thought out, we’ll prepared and age appropriate! We make the library a regular outing each Tuesday and have made friends with other Gran parents and toddlers there.

It is a very modern mall with unique design, the chairs at the rest area are very pretty and comfortable, even the toilet has stunning wall paper. Just so beatiful!!! Te AWA shopping mall is at one side and the business centre with lots of well-know brands are on the other side of the main car park. It is an all-in one shopping mall with food court, cafes, bars, almost all fashion brands shops, vege and groceries store named New Save hs good price, too. Countdown and Kmart are both there. Best place going shopping in Hamilton and even for people in Auckland. If take Te Huia Train from Auckland to Te AWA, you get off the train from Rotokauri and the mall is just around the corner.

Hamilton: An American Musical is a sung-and-rapped-through biographical musical with music, lyrics, and a book by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Based on the 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, the musical covers the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton and his involvement in the American Revolution and the political history of the early United States. Composed over a seven-year period from 2008 to 2015, the music draws heavily from hip hop, as well as R&B, pop, soul, and traditional-style show tunes. It casts non-white actors as the Founding Fathers of the United States and other historical figures. Miranda described Hamilton as about "America then, as told by America now."From its opening, Hamilton received near-universal acclaim. It premiered Off-Broadway on February 17, 2015, at the Public Theater in Lower Manhattan, with Miranda playing the role of Alexander Hamilton, where its several-month engagement was sold out. The musical won eight Drama Desk Awards, including Outstanding Musical. It then transferred to the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway, opening on August 6, 2015, where it received uniformly positive reviews and high box office sales. At the 70th Tony Awards, Hamilton received a record-breaking 16 nominations and won 11 awards, including Best Musical. It received the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. A filmed version of the Broadway production was released in 2020 on Disney+.
The Chicago production of Hamilton began preview performances at the CIBC Theatre in September 2016 and opened the following month. The West End production opened at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London on December 21, 2017, following previews from December 6 and winning seven Olivier Awards in 2018, including Best New Musical. The first U.S. national tour began in March 2017. A second U.S. tour opened in February 2018. Hamilton's third U.S. tour began January 11, 2019, with a three-week engagement in Puerto Rico in which Miranda returned to the role of Hamilton. The first non-English production opened in Hamburg in October 2022 for which it had been translated into German. No amateur or professional licenses have been granted for Hamilton.

Seats are so narrow. I am not a large person but I was not comfortable and felt like the person next to me was touching me the whole time. Paid $30 for the tickets which is a rip off and $8 for a small can of drink. And the movie was way too loud. Overall I will not be going back.

We went for the aircon because it was a sweltering hot day in the Tron. We bought tickets and made our way to the theater. Challenge #1 since it isn’t really clear, we wandered around for a bit before figuring it out, lol. There was nobody to collect our tickets, and the door to the theater was shut, so we weren’t sure if we could just let ourselves in. The theater is average, but it was clean. As a side, it was also the first screening of the day. Seats are also average. Narrow and definitely not made for the comfort of the more generously sized person. The volume was so loud that my ears were still ringing an hour later. Overall experience was poor. I’d give zero stats if I could. Readings theatres are a much better option. I’ll never do HOYTS again – Te Awa or anywhere else. And I would certainly not bother upgrading to a Lux when you can have the same experience for less at Readings or Lighthouse. DON’T DO IT

Went Lux Cinema OMG amazing experience. Such an extravagant way to experience going to see a movie. Saw Avatar 3D. We sat in big lazy boy sitting that vibrated with sound, Adult drinks available. Ordered hot food before the movie that was bought in half way through the movie very yummy. Got a complimentary soft drink and popcorn. What you pay is definitely worth every cent. Won’t go back to the cheap seats.

Great little park. Takes about 1-1.5hours. Plenty of seating and table and chairs scattered around the walk including little covered over shelters. Chicken and ducks are common sight with a few cows. Some lovely grassy areas near the start very suitable for a picnic. A few maps around the place to help are it can get a bit disorientating. One suggestion would be slightly more signage to inform people about varied areas and trees.

Amazing place for a walk. Pram and wheelchair accessible, good parking. Walked it in about 2 hours stopping often to look at the trees or ducks. Baby loved it, was nice and quiet and not too busy. Perfect for a picnic or dare/walk, would highly recommend.

Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is the principal public gallery in Auckland, New Zealand. It has the most extensive collection of national and international art in New Zealand and frequently hosts travelling international exhibitions.
Set below the hilltop Albert Park in the central-city area of Auckland, the gallery was established in 1888 as the first permanent art gallery in New Zealand.
The building originally housed both the Auckland Art Gallery and the Auckland public library, and opened with collections donated by benefactors Governor Sir George Grey and James Tannock Mackelvie. This was the second public art gallery in New Zealand, after the Dunedin Public Art Gallery, which opened three years earlier in 1884. Wellington's New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts opened in 1892 and a Wellington Public Library in 1893.
In 2009, it was announced that the museum received a donation from American businessman Julian Robertson, valued at over $100 million, the largest ever of its kind in the region. The works will be received from the owner's estate.

(Disclaimer: My art has been available at Inspirit for some time, but last week was the first time I’ve been able to visit the gallery in person and meet owner Jenny.) I loved how beautiful and spacious the gallery is – there’s room for the art to breath and to be admired. Jenny stocks an amazing range of NZ fine art pieces and takes great care in their selection and presentation. Inspirit should be on the must-visit list for all art-lovers living in or visiting the Hamilton region.

Really great activity to do on a rainy day (after a yummy lunch at the retro Jukebox Diner. Tickets for us adults were $20, but our son was free (he’s 2) which we thought was a fair price. There is so much to see in the Classics Museum & everything is so well looked after and displayed. There isn’t much you can touch or sit on (except for a few car themed couches) but it’s totally understandable. Highly recommended!
