Smaller than that of Rivière-Salée, the funds are very rich and chosen with great care by the media librarians. There are often shows and activities… even for babies!

Registration is free and the services are numerous: online press, online training, online music… All this offer completes the lovely collection which is on site

Forecourt made of completely disjointed and jaw-breaking slabs. Premium room at the standard of pseudo business class of low-cost airlines. Sore buttocks after 1h30. Poorly adjusted air conditioning, leading to lots of sneezing in the room. Direct exit onto a gloomy passage, where you expect to come across drug dealers, racketeers or lost people…

Pleasant cinema and comfort assured, however a few points need improvement: -The parking lot is undersized -Filtering, before accessing the rooms, is not up to the standard of such a structure -The sound of films is too loud or even unbearable -Appearances, in the toilets, of graffiti made by certain brainless people

The following outline is provided as an overview of and topical guide to New Caledonia:
New Caledonia – "sui generis collectivity" (in practice an overseas territory) of France, comprising a main island (Grande Terre), the Loyalty Islands, and several smaller islands. It is located in the region of Melanesia in the southwest Pacific. At about half the size of Taiwan, it has a land area of 18,575.5 square kilometres (7,172 sq mi). The population was 244,600 inhabitants as of January 2008 official estimates. The capital and largest city of the territory is Nouméa. The currency is the CFP franc.
Since 1986 the United Nations Committee on Decolonization has included New Caledonia on the United Nations list of non-self-governing territories. New Caledonia decided to remain within the French Republic after three referendums held in 2018, 2020, and 2021. The future status of New Caledonia (i.e. possibility of becoming an independent state) is not settled, however.
Its capital Nouméa is the seat of the regional organization the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (formerly the South Pacific Commission).

Well worth spending a day here. Easy 1.5h drive up from Noumea in the morning. Head to Pont Perignon and rent a bike from there, and go up the gorgeous 12km trails to see rivers, forests, and delightful cagus! Options for e-bikes and shuttles too. The staff on the reserve are very kind and helpful.

Papua New Guinean art has a long rich diverse tradition. In particular, it is world-famous for carved wooden sculpture: masks, canoes and story-boards. Papua New Guinea also has a wide variety of clay, stone, bone, animal and natural die art. Many of the best collections of these are held in overseas museums.
Some of the artists regarded as being in the first wave of contemporary art in Papua New Guinea are: Mathias Kauage OBE (born 1944), Timothy Akis, Jakupa Ako and Joe Nalo, all from the tough urban area of Port Moresby. Kauage won Australia's Blake Prize for Religious Art, four of his works are in the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow, and he had a solo show in 2005 at the Horniman Museum, "Kauage's Visions: Art from Papua New Guinea". Other noted Papua New Guinean visual artists include Larry Santana, Martin Morububuna and Heso Kiwi. The works shown below, in composite images, were done while the artists were visiting California but are traditional in content and medium.

A must-see museum with Nautical flavour As others have said you could easily overlook this Museum located where it is – but it really is one of those hidden treasures. Beautifully laid out and with translations of virtually every display from French into English. Some interactive displays for little people. An amazing story of discovery, loss, searches, mutinies, pride and hatred. It has it all!!
