Canadian traveller here. I’ve been living in a campervan for the last 2 weeks and needed to do some laundry! I’m so glad we passed by this self-service laundry facility! It’s 24 hours so I was able to do late afternoon after exploring the town. It was very clean, well maintained, and it’s the best laundry facility I’ve ever been to – EVER! There are several washer and drier machines. They also offer detergent and fabric softer option if you don’t have any or you can use the washer where you can put your own detergent. Make sure to read the signs above the machine. There isn’t any burnt smell after the drier which is what I’m used to back at home. Also these dryers are the big industrial ones! There are 2 long tables to fold your clothing. There are also chairs for you to sit on while waiting for 30 minutes. Be sure to look at the wall and “Single Tuesdays” as it just lightens up your day. Thank you for existing and making my trip easier in Australia!

This place is amazing. My washing machine died so I had a weeks worth of washing for the family. 5 loads done in half an hour total, this included a duvet. So fast, so easy, clean and convenient. Worth a visit

I love the convenience of having 24hr access. I can pop in early morning and get my washing started before I go for a walk and it’s ready to be collected when I’m done. Now that efficiency. Who says men can’t multitask?

The only negative thing I’ve found is the preset drying time, they need to be a little longer.

      * update: thanks for the tips on the dryers Stu! I’ll definitely be giving this a go on my next visit. Cheers!

Clean, tidy, clear instructions, up to date facilities (paywave etc). Love the fact it includes detergent for travellers not carrying any! Would be good to see some powerpoints or charging banks available while waiting inside for my washing to complete its cycles…

What a great find! Our machine died and we were able to go straight down to The Tumble Club and get our things washed in less than 30 minutes. The pay by phone option was really handy. A great facility to have in our neighbourhood!

YHA Ltd, trading as YHA Australia, is a not-for-profit of members trading corporation providing hostel and other accommodation, travel and associated service in Australia. It is a member organisation of Hostelling International.
YHA Ltd became a management and director controlled corporation with managers and directors now controlling the selection of successive directors and directors being able to appoint a least one-third of their number without election Directors may profit from payments but ordinary members are not entitled to a share of profits or assets. Profits are not necessarily spent or re-invested in the network of hostels or the provision of accommodation and services to members. The founder of the youth hostel movement, Richard Schirrmann, took youths away from the conditions of factories and cities to experience the countryside on foot and by bicycle and, in winter, on skis and skates, finding accommodation in barns, houses, school buildings and later designated hostels in the countryside. In the 1960s, YHA NSW recognised eight principles including "2) Every encouragement should be given to those who travel by their own effort whether they travel by foot, bicycle, canoe, horse or row or sail", "3) Hostellers should be encouraged to enjoy the bush" and "4) Rural industries ... could be visited".In recent decades, the Australian organisation changed focus and closed many hostels in rural areas and concentrated on providing travel accommodation in major tourist destinations, particularly large accommodation in metropolitan areas and coastal cities and towns where accommodation was already readily supplied. While still using the name YHA (Youth Hostels Association), the organisation no longer has a focus on providing accommodation for youths and now provides accommodation regardless of age. At the same time, the types of accommodation provided has changed from hostel to include hotel-style rooms and suites and self-contained accommodation. Having accumulated large debts on city and prime tourist location properties, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic decline in travel revenue, the organisation was forced to sell more hostels, many well below their account book value, with nineteen hostels closed.

I arrived at 11:30pm due to delays on the coach trip from Brisbane. The duty manager did everything he could, and that little bit extra, to expedite my check-in, including storing my bicycle securely. The room was clean and comfortable, the hot water service in the shower functioned well. Breakfast the next morning was excellent and the staff on duty were once again very obliging. I would certainly stay here again.

This is probably the third time we’ve stayed and what can I say but once again it was great. Accommodation quiet, clean and quite roomy, shower head great. There is Parking available which is another bonus. Close to shops and eateries. Everything you need is provided and there is a kitchen should you wish to “do your own thing”. Our booking this time included Buffet Breakfast which was very substantial. Staff were welcoming and very helpful with any queries thrown at them. I would certainly recommend a stay with Ibis if you need accommodation in that area. Check out wasn’t until 11 am which was another plus

The location was good, and you can reach transportation easily. They’re charging an extra fee for the car parking ($15 daily). Room was clean but hand wash and shower gels were empty. Hotel guests were loud, door shuts and speeches on the corridor may disturb.

Somehow, instead, a dying pulse of a former glory hotel. It had its old charm, but it reeks of sadness now. The receptionist lady makes rude assumptions. The bathroom pod had a lingering vomit stale smell that triggered me to vomit violently. It has a beautiful bathroom, though, but I am unsure if it’s wise for a hotel. It had a warning to keep the door shut, or the steam would set off the alarm. Or did you mean for smokers? Silly. I left the door open, and nothing happened. So there you go! I am not a smoker, no. It’s just good old steam with a scent of lavender. It did not improve the vomit’s stale smell for long, though. Remote was very dusty, and you do realise there’s a study that proved that this is worse than a toilet seat in germs? Tsk tsk, I will not be surprised if I get covid. It was a very dusty room, strangely. The window does not open; cue doom music; you will not get fresh air to combat the vomit’s stale smell. I recommend Chanel No.5 as it is best to create a crispy linen smell; don’t be afraid to pump it! I thank Ibis for providing me with a home for two days, and I will be grateful for their service as the cleaners are fantastic, beautiful, great people. I respect them. The other workers, not so much. Last but not least, you have to pay $25 a night for parking and that’s not even guaranteed. ?

Location: Great location very close to Newcastle Interchange. Check-in: long lines of people checking in took us about 20min at 2pm. Rooms: Adequate size & clean rooms with comfortable bed. Very small bathroom with poor ventilation. Breakfast: $28/pp. Not worth the price. The menu consisted of a few fruits. Inedible scrambled eggs along with baked beans, bacon and sausage. An assortment of bread along with toaster and jam, etc. I would suggest visiting nearby restaurants/cafes which have great food like The Happy Wombat.

Took the tunnels tour, Ross was very informative and polite. We turned up just as the tour was going to start at 11:30am and then in time for the firing of the mini cannon demonstration at 1pm.

Great stop, even if you do not take the tour. The view from the top is great, overlooking the beach. Parking is limited, may have to park further by the beach and walk up, toilets available.

Lovely place with free entrance, great view over the ocean with the chance of spotting some whales. Also a great view over the beach. The Fort itself is well maintained, informative display of the history of the area in WWII and the event of firing on a Japanese submarine. It also has a souvenir shop where you can buy… well… some souvenirs 😉

My husband and I came in to purchase our first fish tank supplies. We had no idea about what we needed to do but we spoke to James (the guy with fish tattoos) and he couldn’t have been more helpful. He answered all the questions we had and made suggestions for us. He was a great guy and really knew his stuff. Absolutely fantastic customer service.

Was in the store Saturday, store is well laid out and easy to navigate. Staff were extremely helpful and the manager Maddy went out of her to way to help and advise me on a few niche products I was interested in. Store had a good vibe and the team appeared to work well together. Will be only shopping here for my pet supplies from now on.

I never thought this store would get anything less than five stars because of how amazing the staff always were. Unfortunately the manager Maddy is that unwelcoming she drives it down to one star. We don’t even feel comfortable coming in anymore. The way Maddy speaks to staff and customers is insulting and downright cruel. Her attitude is mind boggling sour and she seems threatened by anyone who comes in with a smile. What was once a warm and welcoming store is a shell of what it used to be. The rest of the staff at Glendale are amazing, and the same goes for every other Pet Quarters store. Unfortunately when ever Maddy is in the mood is completely different. I see you don’t appreciate this staff member being called out by name, but when I tried to speak to a manager in store I was rudely told by Maddy that she IS the manager and I have no real complaint, so I don’t see what else I was meant to do.

Quite good product knowledgeable customer service, parking directly out the front. Products are quite expensive, fish variety is quite extensive. Business could do with more animals to sell.

I went to pet quarters today for the first time and am very impressed! I was served by James. I am new to saltwater aquariums and he took so much time to walk me through everything and went absolutely above and beyond to help me get everything I needed and explained it to me in really simple terms I could understand. He even carried the water out to my car for me. Highly impressed and will be using pet quarters for all my fish supplies from now on!

Beautiful place unfortunately no regulations, so lots of screaming kids disturbing the poor animals. Would love to see more signs or see parents teach their kids to be quiet. A few of these animals are nocturnal… Do better! Worth a visit regardless.

Came across this wonderful reserve today and so glad we did. It’s beautifully maintained, with many walking tracks, sheltered seating areas, alongside BBQ areas, clean restrooms & various shelters that you can book in advance. The well constructed walkways take you amongst the trees, where you can see an amazing variety of animals. At the pond, we stopped and were thrilled to see many tortoises, trying to camouflage themselves amongst the underwater habitat. There is also a well constructed playground with lots of tactile activities for the kids. A perfect spot for the whole family! ???

What a great area, always drove past to/from work but never knew what it was. Great for kids parties, large grass area, playground and BBQ areas. Parking is $14 for the day but entry to see animals is free so well worth it. Also lots of bushwalks, get amongst it!

Good place to take the whole family with play ground, walking trails, electric barbecues, park benches and tables, paid under cover shelter and even a kiosk (closed when we visited on a Tuesday). Nicely maintained and kept clean. Entry is free but there are parking metres out in the parking lot with minum fee of $5. There’s a duck pond located just after the well maintained lawn near the entrance with peacocks and wild turkeys roaming the grounds even out in the car park area. In the enclosed animal enclosures there are wallabies, kangaroos and emus.

The last time I had been here was close to a decade ago. The amount of effort put in to upgrade the facilities and cleanup the water quality in the main pond is phenomenal. Highly recommend this place for eating a takeaway lunch or just quiet contemplation during the week. Not so quiet on weekends or holidays.

Absolutely 5 star service!! Bernard & his team are fantastic to deal with. Found a beautiful little red Fuji Feather in store. He took the time to listen to my every request, ordered in the particular parts I was after, and built the bike to a very high standard. Never was I pressured to break the bank, he even recommended better performing components that were half the price of my original request. When I noticed a slight niggle in the freewheel that was shipped from Fuji, he was happy to take a look and replaced it free of charge. It’s great to find a local bike dealer as fastidious as I am 🙂 Excellent selection of quality accessories, and the team are very welcoming no matter what your looking for. Thanks guys ????

We were recommended Metro Cycles by our neighbour as we wanted to take the plunge on an electric cargo bike. Bernie showed us all the different options and wasn’t pushy with making a sell. We ended up buying a Spicy Curry Yuba. Seriously has been the best investment for our family. We don’t need a second car, we can fit all 3 kids on there for our school run and rides to the park. We should have bought it years ago.

Medium-sized chain gym with a reasonable range of equipment. Reminds me of Pure Gym in the UK and is a solid option for a fitness gym. 20$aud day pass available on the door during manned hours. NB looks like they are moving location shortly.

Anytime Newy West is such an amazing gym! The staff, particularly Jordy, are so kind and helpful. I’d call this place my second home and always feel so welcome every time I’m in there. With incredible facilities and in such a great location, I feel lucky to be a member here.

Excellent facilities at this gym. Very spacious which means that it doesn’t feel cramped when there are a lot of people there. There is also a car park near by that allows free parking for an hour and a half, which is more than enough to complete my workout. I only wish my local gym was this big and had the space for all the equipment. There is a coffee machine provided along with pre and post workout powders. Alongside the changing rooms they provide deodorants and hair straighteners and what not. When i went to checkout the place the day before my workout, the staff there were more than willing to show me around. I would recommend this place if you are visiting here or thinking of joining.
