As a member of the Lamana Hotel and a regular as well, Lamana is a comfortable place for me to let lose and relax and enjoy a couple beers and a chat with friends or a game of pool in the arena or snooker at the Q club upstairs or even discuss business during the week days. Both Yiannis and Jacquie (Executive Managing Staff) come and mingle with the members and regulars. The staff are friendly and helpful. The DJ’s keep the party going mixing up the hits with classics from the legends to blast from the past, to the current music hitting the airwaves abroad as well as locally. The security is alert always making sure the members are kept safe, anyone who is out of order is always chucked out of the club instantly to ensure others enjoy their peace and freedom to enjoy themselves. The food is tasty and great. I have also stayed in the rooms which are comfortable and cozy. Great service from both management and staff, Great Food, Great rooms, Great Location. Truly the party capital of the Pacific. Keep being awesome Lamana, and keep improving. The skies the limit. Kudos!

I have stayed at lamana many times in the past. I stayed this time for a week and I found it very noisy and lots of drucks around. The service was slow and made mistakes. The check in was messy and the booking online needs more attention as the staff does not follow it. The check out was also messy with tabs booked to my account with out any proper authorisation. On checking in I asked for a discount but no one listened to my request.

The New Guinea campaign of the Pacific War lasted from January 1942 until the end of the war in August 1945. During the initial phase in early 1942, the Empire of Japan invaded the Territory of New Guinea on 23 January and Territory of Papua on 21 July and overran western New Guinea (part of the Netherlands East Indies) beginning on 29 March. During the second phase, lasting from late 1942 until the Japanese surrender, the Allies—consisting primarily of Australian forces—cleared the Japanese first from Papua, then New Guinea, and finally from the Dutch colony.
The campaign resulted in a crushing defeat and heavy losses for the Empire of Japan. As in most Pacific War campaigns, disease and starvation claimed more Japanese lives than enemy action. Most Japanese troops never even came into contact with Allied forces and were instead simply cut off and subjected to an effective blockade by Allied naval forces. Garrisons were effectively besieged and denied shipments of food and medical supplies, and as a result some claim that 97% of Japanese deaths in this campaign were from non-combat causes. According to John Laffin, the campaign "was arguably the most arduous fought by any Allied troops during World War II".

New Guinea (Tok Pisin: Niugini; Hiri Motu: Niu Gini; Indonesian: Papua, fossilized Nugini, or historically Irian) is the world's second-largest island, with an area of 785,753 km2 (303,381 sq mi). Located in Melanesia in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, the island is separated from Australia by the 150-kilometre (81-nautical-mile; 93-mile) wide Torres Strait, though both landmasses lie on the same continental shelf, and were united during episodes of low sea level in the Pleistocene glaciations as the combined landmass of Sahul. Numerous smaller islands are located to the west and east. The island's name was given by Spanish explorer Yñigo Ortiz de Retez during his maritime expedition of 1545 due to the resemblance of the indigenous peoples of the island to those in the African region of Guinea. The eastern half of the island is the major land mass of the independent state of Papua New Guinea. The western half, known as Western New Guinea, forms a part of Indonesia and is organized as the provinces of Papua, Central Papua, Highland Papua, South Papua, Southwest Papua, and West Papua. The two major cities on the island are Port Moresby and Jayapura.

Premnas biaculeatus, commonly known as spine-cheeked anemonefish or the maroon clownfish, is a species of anemonefish found in the Indo-Pacific from western Indonesia to Taiwan and the Great Barrier Reef. They can grow up to be about 17 cm (6.7 in). Like all anemonefishes it forms a symbiotic mutualism with sea anemones and is unaffected by the stinging tentacles of the host anemone. It is a sequential hermaphrodite with a strict size-based dominance hierarchy; the female is largest, the breeding male is second largest, and the male nonbreeders get progressively smaller as the hierarchy descends. They exhibit protandry, meaning the breeding male changes to female if the sole breeding female dies, with the largest nonbreeder becoming the breeding male. The fish's natural diet includes algae and zooplankton.

I visited this place 4 years ago when I attended the 2018 APEC Summit held in Port Moresby. This place was used as APEC international media center which was good because it has spacious room, more than enough to host hundreds of journalists.

As its name, of course there was swimming pool but I didn’t have a chance to try it. Anyway it was a nice experience to visit such unique and beautiful country as PNG.

A decent hotel with reasonable services within the given price range. The food for sure is fresh and good quality which makes it my choice amongst all the competitors. Worth trying. Services need to improve especially the internet speed is too slow to manage your workload. The staff and Ops manager are very responsive. Happy and healthy eating folks.

I was staying in the city but came here for a dinner. i finally found a place which served local food which is “secure” by my country’s advice. the food was lovely and big portions. the ceviche was lovely and south American????. walking round the hotel, it was lovely and relaxed. nice pool and greenery everywhere. less businessman atmosphere and more holiday relax atmosphere. I had drinks with the tree kangaroos but went inside due to the mozzies. they were relentless. the food was surprisingly cheaper than in the western chain hotels and actually tastier I found. would definitely visit and potentially stay if I ever come back to POM city. enjoy my photos

One of the best places to go for lunch if you’re seeking authentic Papua New Guinea food. They serve a wide variety of dishes, but I highly recommend their seafood.

With both indoor and outdoor dining options and delicious kulau (coconuts), it offers a great opportunity to enjoy.

Spacious rooms in a beautiful garden environment. Friendly and accomodating staff who are always eager to assist guests. Located less than 10 minutes from the airport and from Vision City. Perfect!

Top Local Market in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

Port Moresby (; Tok Pisin: Pot Mosbi), also referred to as Pom City or simply Moresby, is the capital and largest city of Papua New Guinea. It is one of the largest cities in the southwestern Pacific (along with Jayapura) outside of Australia and New Zealand. It is located on the shores of the Gulf of Papua, on the south-western coast of the Papuan Peninsula of the island of New Guinea. The city emerged as a trade centre in the second half of the 19th century. During World War II, it was a prime objective for conquest by the Imperial Japanese forces during 1942–43 as a staging point and air base to cut off Australia from Southeast Asia and the Americas.
As of the 2011 census, Port Moresby had 364,145 inhabitants. An unofficial 2020 estimate gives the population as 383,000. The place where the city was founded has been inhabited by the Motu-Koitabu people for centuries. The first Briton to see it was Royal Navy Captain John Moresby in 1873. It was named in honour of his father, Admiral of the Fleet Sir Fairfax Moresby.
Although Port Moresby is surrounded by Central Province, of which it is also the capital, it is not part of that province but forms the National Capital District. The traditional landowners, the Motu and Koitabu people, are represented by the Motu Koita Assembly.
Port Moresby hosted the APEC summit in November 2018. However, there were concerns about security given the capital's reputation for violent crime.

For fruits and veggies, I recommend this market. Fish market maybe not up to par but a local will surely find something at the least. Be mindful of belongings when parking near market. Securities are around directing traffic but not watching every vehicle. Safe marketing.

A great market, but I believe facilities should be improved more. Food variety is top notch for the island, but I’d like for the prices of veggies to be lower.
