      It’s ok but I normally take the bus into the City and go to the Flinders Street Library, it is much nicer and its a short walk to read at Anzac Park or The Strand which is much better than any place at Aitkenvale.

      (We went for Baby Rhyme Time)

      The hosts were lovely and the rhyme environment was good too. The music wasn’t too loud and didn’t startle Bub, and quiet “screams” were encouraged for the row your boat rhyme. Everyone was included and the actions were explained for each rhyme.

      The only downside was the changing room/baby bathroom. There is a fold out change table but no bench to put the nappy bag on or get anything ready, only an oddly shaped sink.

      Lots of fun for all ages. Study areas. Play area for kids. Laptops. Comfortable chairs around the place. Cool air-conditioning. DVDs to borrow. Music to borrow. There is even a library of things to borrow. There is also an ebook app called borrowbox. The council has done as awesome job with Townsville Libraries.

      The shops are great. I hired a disability scooter. The lady was very nice that gave it to me. I couldn’t swivel the seat as it wouldn’t work. A lady had to keep the disable toilet door open for me while I tried to get into the toilet with great difficulty. I did it. The door is too narrow. If I knew I was going to be asked for my review I would have taken a photo of the toilet door. On returning the scooter I told the ladies, their attitude was that they really weren’t that interested. It’s good to see Aldi there.

      It is very good when you need to use the banks as most of them are there and the post office, as I don’t do internet banking this is great i am sure it is for a lot of other people as there is usually a line up at both when i am there. Stores are great but food court is slowly getting smaller choices as tenants close their stores ?

      HEY GUYS PLEASE READ….. What a shopping centre. It’s the place to go if you need absolutely anything. Has a Cole’s supermarket. Woolworths and big w. Best and less and so many other specialty stores. The only thing missing from here is an auto shop and they need to be brought back into centres to bring more patronage, however a very well set out centre with everything and helpful stores.       All the shops that you need. Plenty of parking space. Nice restaurants. My kids like the Food Court. Enough seating areas. There, s a Woolworths and Coles for grocery shopping. I like Daiso, where you can find stuff you didn’t think you need, but then you see it?. Loved the Christmas decorations and Santa.

      How did we miss this cinema…definitely a wow cinema! We are told it was built 30 years ago as a reminder to the good old days. A great cinema to watch Top Gun 2 and now we can’t wait to see Elvis movie there. The screen is new and huge and the sound is clear and just the right decibels to sit at the front which we love to do to feel the action. The staff are all lovely people who help to make the whole atmosphere a true art Deco experience. There is even a dress code men have to wear a shirt! I highly recommend checking this amazing cinema…not to be missed on your travels to Townsville!

      Nice view on a sunny day, light on details of why the barracks was operational to circa 2006. Especially after the harbour was deemed too shallow for invading warships and the gun emplacements were abandoned nearly 100 years earlier. Thought Darwin was the only city bombed by the Japanese, apparently Townsville was as well three times in a week, no damage done though.

      Good spot for a camp. National Park, so you have to book online etc; A bit tight and can imagine that it’d get a bit crowded. 4WD would be wise. Must do: drive west from camping are until you see a side-road on the left next to the National Park sign, it leads to the lookout for Blencoe Falls and Herbert Gorge.

      We went to Wallaman Falls, the view was amazing and really impressive. The walk to go at the bottom of the waterfall is around 2km, going back up hill was pretty exhausting. There is a free car park and toilets.

      Beautiful spot! I think the waterfalls are the prettiest in the morning for photos when it catches the morning sun. The camping area was great! About 1 minute from the falls. Although I do wish it was policed by the ranger a bit better. People come in, set up in a spot, and don’t put their permit up in the window. Then they get up and slam doors at 5 and 6am and drive off before the ranger has a chance to come in the morning. It really ruins it for people who actually pay, and use the facilities, because people came in looking for spots and it was all taken up by the people who left very early to avoid a ticket. You can literally use the payphone right in the camping grounds, it’s 50 cents. Call the number and pay for your camping permit by card. It’s that easy. That’s what I did. Super simple! Also please don’t clip branches of the trees to use on the fire to cook with!!! They are still green! If the ranger catches you he will throw you out. Not only that but you are killing the trees! If you just look up the road a bit there are plenty of dead wood branches, sticks, and twigs on the ground that are DRY you can use for the fire!

      Beautiful fils park with the higher waterfall in Australia !! Huge and powerfull, you will love to go down to see the water smash the dam from the bottom, its only 30-40min walk, and its a lovely walk in the forest !

      Run by volunteers this place is well implemented and well worth a visit. Entry is by donation and photography welcome. You can spend a couple of hours here if you have a specific interest. Kids will find the dioramas interesting.

      Great place to look around. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Some terrific displays and great stories to read. The people who keep medals and memorabilia polished do a fantastic job. Free to enter but it wasn’t hard to leave a donation. So much history. Thanks.

      What a great little museum – a hidden gem! There are 3 galleries in total covering different era’s, and some of the displays are really well put together. Definitely worth a visit, we spent an hour here but your could spend longer if you read everything. Some great displays are really hidden away (especially the far right corner in the second gallery building), so be sure to look around!

      A very interesting museum. Lots of interesting artefacts from the Boer War to modern day conflicts telling the story of the Australia’s involvement. Spent a couple of hours here looking round and thoroughly enjoyed it. Even better entry is free. Lots of volunteers who all seemed knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended if you have an interest in military history and are in the area.
