Basic room, good mattress, bathroom was simple but new ish and felt clean. They are doing work on the place and all the improvements are nice. Kitchen was nice and new ish. Everything felt clean except for the plugs and carpet that ether need a industrial clean or to be replaced. But nothing was so awful that it was uncomfortable. Wish they would buy a charging tower for the room. Lovely quiet, calm atmosphere to the place. I would go back if I was heading through Hamilton.

Rooms were spacious, clean, with an ac unit, no windows to open so could get quite warm in the summer. Communal cooking facilities and living area again pretty clean. I did think the price for the hostel was quite expensive.

Didn’t even stay 5 minutes. Room was not as advertised. Smelt and everywhere generally unclean looking / feeling and smelly. Dingy creepy, not at all acceptable. They’d even turned the reception into what looks like a living space for the manager?? Do not recommend.

One of the most pleasant backpackers I’ve stayed in NZ for the past 1 year. Mr AJ, Ragul, and the team are very welcoming, friendly and helpful! The room and common areas are kept clean and tidy.

This place is less than 10mins walk to Transport centre, less than 5mins walk to Pak n Save, and plenty of eateries just across the road.

I’ve stayed in many hostels and this by far was the worst. Not even worth the price we paid in our opinion. the hostel almost seems like it has two different area. Downstairs rooms had a secure entrance after being in the entrance and it was bright and pretty decent from what we could tell. Unfortunately we were placed upstairs. The hallways were narrow, dirty, very smelly and pretty dark too. Kind of creepy actually. Our room looked nothing like the add (which ok I know it wouldn’t be the same but like it was WAY off). It was so dirty. There was broken and nasty furniture in there. It smelled. The window was covered in like dirt or mole. The AC made a terrible noise, and I took one look at those remotes for the tv and ac And NASTY. There were also missing baseboards all around the room which made us wonder if the place had a nasty bed bug problem at some point.

The bathrooms had no TP. One stall was locked because it was broken but it continued to just leak water all over the place. Showers were icky too…

We looked for hours for a different place to stay with no luck. We inquired about moving to a rom downstairs and the guy at reception was pretty rude and just gave us a “no”.

I’ll give location a bonus because it wasn’t far from the bus station and stuff but overall would not recommend this place to anyone.

My first time writing a review on Google Map is for the fabulous receptionists in Bealey Quarter. Due to my stupid touching a button and locking my suitcase without writing down the passwords of both lockers, I was almost crying at the reception. The staff at the reception tried their best to comfort me and help me. Grace, one of the staff, helped me test the passwords one by one and finally she found out the correct passwords in a short time. It was almost a task cannot be done and she did. This is a lovely hostel and I will definitely book again when I am back to Christchurch. Cheers to all of you and your kindness.

Stayed for 3 nights in the courtyard facing studio. Had our own beds and bathroom, daily room service and access to the communal kitchen and laundry room. No complaints. Great location and happy with the price. Would recommend courtyard studio ?

I booked a bed in one of the dorm style rooms in the Lodge. The spring mattress was not very comfortable, but it was decent enough. With all the beds and people in the 8-bed room, it was VERY tight. Not a lot of space to put my things which was just one suitcase and one backpack. The kitchen was clean and well stocked, but the fridges were full of old food. Kind and helpful staff. I found some decent parking around the back on Packe St. Good for a short stay, but not much longer than a few days.

Here not like hostel like a dorm. If u stay short term than very good. If u wanna work this area and u will stay here long term than i dont recommend. Because u cant rest here too much. Very clear please. Everyday cleaning very good. I have big respect about that. Toilet shower everything is good. Room very nice for 8 people little too much. But if u stay couple days u cant care. U can stay. Generally i like here. Very nice place. Kitchen also nice. Only living room not enough. Very small area. Thank u guys ???????

The staff was horrid. The woman working the front desk, after yelling at another customer for speaking poor English, admitted to mistakingly giving our room away before we arrived.

We booked a King bed room – but they had no more of that same style. Normally – a hotel person who screwed up would offer an upgrade or at least a similar room. Instead she offered us a room with 2 child-sized beds instead.

After 20 hours of flights, we were too tired to cancel and find another place so we just stayed, but it was massively underwhelming.

I believe the staff person, who told us she’d worked there for 8 months, should probably not be doing a customer-facing role as she seems to despise people.

Place is old, rooms are very basic, no mini fridge in room. To keep anything cold. Towels and wash clothes had stains on them. Recommended bring your own with you. Very cheap prices so you get what you pay for. If another room was in their bathroom, expect your bathroom sink and toilet to glug away and fill up. Won’t be staying again unless emergency.

Didn’t book online just rocked up, anyway the room was very warm and old fashioned so everything felt like I was in 1930s movie, even has ghostly creaky brass door knobs, I didnt use the kitchen so can’t comment was busy getting to and from my son’s rugby tournament, and related social activities. The front desk was very helpful I could park my car outside after 8pm and get moving before 8am, that’s when paid parking would begin, I arrived Sunday left Wednesday good idea is check in early 3pm was not busy at that time, 3 nights stay single room shared bathroom card access building was secure. There is a brilliant Cafe next door with a post office and reasonably priced yummy cafe type food used it once, as most of time ate with the team, overall place is well placed clean and cheap.

Bed had bed bugs and we woke covered in bites. We were transferred to an upgraded room with an ensuite, but the bath was stained and dirty. The kitchen had no forks. The location is very convenient with bus stops close and the staff are friendly.

If Ryanair did hotels… great location near ferry and train and walkable everywhere, but that’s it. Least friendly welcome I’ve had in a month in NZ (and most places). Old shabby and a bit grubby room, bathroom like a student flat from the 90s. Everything costs extra – luggage storage, hairdryer..(!). Cheap but you really really feel it.

I have visited Wellington for some business and book this place to just spend my night. I have been to this place a couple of times before.

There were enough facilities as a backpacker place but it was too noisy and hard to catch a sleep. Since I had no much time for sleep and also I have to take the BlueBridge ferry, this was a good option to me. Coz the ferry is just in front of the hotel. Unlike some other backpackers places, there was a shared bathroom for just two rooms. There is a large hall next to the kitchen and it is very good to sit and relax with your friends while eating. There are no many restaurants around but a Subway and a Macca. If you walked to the railway station in front of the hotel, you can see the supermarket and a coffee shop. The coffee shop opens early morning.

The lady who worked at the checking counter isn’t that friendly. She is the same person who came to my room on the second day and said that I should be out today. I booked my 2 night stay from the booking dot com website. I got irritated and told her to go and check your system again before you talk to me.

Overall, this place is good if you are looking for a cheap backpacker place or a place to keep your stuff until you get your work done in Wellington.

I think the worst part of staying here was not being able to breathe. The entire building feels like it’s been completely sealed. The air was so stale, stagnant, and musty after stepping off the elevator. I didn’t think it could be any worse and then I opened my room door. No windows to open, no AC, not even a fan in the room to help circulate the air. To make it worse, someone in the room was vaping. I can’t imagine what it must feel like on a hot and humid summer day.

Staff was friendly and tried to be as helpful as possible, but can’t accommodate everyone and everything which I understand. The kitchen was usually dirty from people not cleaning up after themselves. Good amount of fridge space though.

I guess, what do you expect from a hostel in the middle of Auckland?

I definitely would not recommend this accommodation!

We had a private double room. The bed was like sleeping on the floor it was so hard. There was only a bottom sheet and a doona. I’m not convinced the doona cover had been washed between guests (yuck) as it had that “needs to be washed” feel.

The bathroom for the floor had 2 toilets plus a shower and toilet cubicle. Only one toilet had a working light and none of them were clean.

As an adult I don’t appreciate being told that I can only consume water in my room. If I want to eat or have a beverage in my room it’s none of management’s business.

I’m glad we were only there for one night and I will never return.

The only positive about Choice was the CBD location.

We planned to stay at the Choice Backpackers hostel for 4 nights but when we checked in our room everywhere was mold and it also smelled like mold, it wasn’t cleaned, you can’t shower there because it was dirty. Also the bathrooms are very unhygienic and you don’t want to get ready in it. Because of this circumstances we checked out directly the next day. Even tho the hostel is located pretty good, it’s not a reason to stay in this unhygienic hostel!

The room was fine ig. No major issues other than the first room we checked into had broken ac and no window to open. They moved us rooms which was fine… come to find out the shower on the 5th floor is covered in black mold. If I didn’t need to shower I’d give this place a better review. It looks a little old maybe a little run down but not op bad. The shower is a literal health hazard to anyone that goes in there tho. Nvm a severe asthmatic like me. The staff seemed nice and the location is fairly good. There’s a couple of clothing stores around as well as a lot of places to eat out.

Paid for a single room – stank of mould and damp. Showers and communal areas are questionable and often felt dirty. The staff are nice and due to its size the hostel was good for socialising as there are so many people coming and going. Good location in the CBD to get places and use the buses.

The Bonegilla Migrant Reception and Training Centre was a camp set up for receiving and training migrants to Australia during the post World War II immigration boom. The camp was set on 130 hectares (320 acres) near Wodonga at the locality of Bonegilla in north east Victoria, between the Hume Dam and the city of Wodonga. The site was a former World War II Australian Army base, and is adjacent to the current Latchford Barracks. Before being requisitioned by the army, the site was originally a section of large pastoral land. The camp opened in 1947 and operated until 1971, over which period it received over 300,000 migrants. It is estimated that over 1.5 million Australians are descended from migrants who spent time at Bonegilla. Eric Bana's parents were both processed through Bonegilla. The grandfather of actor and screenwriter Jason Agius stayed at the camp in 1952. Other former residents include Karl Kruszelnicki, Franca Arena, Arvi Parbo, Les Murray, Susan Duncan, Pi O and Raimond Gaita.

We have stayed here multiple times over many years. Always great service from friendly and efficient staff. Convenient and quiet location only minutes from main highway. Plenty of free off street parking, some undercover. Older style but rooms are large and clean, comfortable beds. On site licensed restaurant that has always satisfied our hunger. Free wifi. Delivers all that you need for an overnight or short stay at a reasonable price. Downtown an easy walk.

I had a two-night, mid-week stay at Albury Manor House in mid January. Full of character with casual old world charm. Sure, it’s a little older in style, but my room was spacious, clean, comfortable and very reasonably priced at less than $250 in total. Speaking of which, the menu has a lot of options and is also very reasonably priced. The staff I spoke with were delightful. Around 7 mins drive from the airport with secure parking onsite. I’m glad I chose this place and I would happily stay again.

Stay here on our way down to Melbourne. Absolutely amazing team, very helpful in every way. The place was clean and tidy, could not fault the place. My kids loved the place, heated pool and plenty of space in the room, perfect. So we stayed on the way back home 😉 Absolute pleasure, keep up the amazing work guys!

    Top Hostel in Bundaberg, Australia

Bundaberg is a city in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland, Australia, and is the tenth largest city in the state. Bundaberg's regional area has a population of 70,921, and is a major centre of the Wide Bay–Burnett geographical region. The Bundaberg central business district is situated along the southern bank of the Burnett River, about 20 km (12 mi) from its mouth at Burnett Heads, and flows into the Coral Sea. The city is sited on a rich coastal plain, supporting one of the nation's most productive agricultural regions. The area of Bundaberg is the home of the Taribelang-Bunda, Goreng Goreng, Gurang, and Bailai peoples. Popular nicknames for Bundaberg include "Bundy", "Rum City", and "The 'Berg". The demonym of Bundaberg is Bundabergian. The district surveyor, John Thompson Charlton designed the city layout in 1868, which planned for uniform square blocks with wide main streets, and named it ‘Bundaberg’. An early influence on the development of Bundaberg came with the 1868 Land Act, which was a famous Queensland via media, that aimed to create a class of Australian yeoman.Large sugarcane plantations were established throughout the 1880s, with industries of sugar mills, refineries, and rum distilleries that delivered prosperity to Bundaberg. These plantations used South Sea Islanders as indentured labourers, many of whom were blackbirded, a practice considered of form of slavery. The trade was outlawed in 1904, with most South Sea Islanders deported by 1906.Major floods in 1942 and 1954 damaged the river, ending Bundaberg's role as a river port and led to a new port at the mouth of the Burnett river. In the post-war era, Bundaberg continued to grow with its wealth tied to its sugar industry. In 2013, Bundaberg experienced record flooding from Cyclone Oswald, which was the worst disaster in the city's history. The economy of Bundaberg is based primarily on agriculture, forestry, fishing and tourism, with a gross regional product at about $5.07 billion. Bundaberg also has a major distillery and brewery industry that exports to international markets. The city is served by the Port of Bundaberg and the Bundaberg Airport.
Bundaberg has a rich history and culture, along with its humid subtropical climate it is known for its weeping fig trees, dry stone walls, and historic plantations, including the Fairymead Plantation and the Sunnyside Sugar Plantation, the latter of which is the site of a mass grave. Other sites of South Sea Islander cultural significance include Sir Anthony's Rest atop the Bundaberg Hummock and the South Sea Islander Church. Bundaberg is also considered a paranormal hotspot, and is known for its ghost tours. Major cultural institutions include the Hinkler Hall of Aviation and the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery. The city's culinary culture is highlighted by its annual 'Banquet on the Bridge', and an iconic rum and gin culture with Bundaberg Rum originating in the city.
Bundaberg is a popular tourism destination, the city's hinterland includes the historic towns of Childers and Gin Gin, Lake Monduran, Cania Gorge National Park and the Promisedland mountain bike trails. Bundaberg's coastal areas include Bargara and Mon Repos, Deepwater National Park, and the southernmost reaches of the Great Barrier Reef alongside the islands of Lady Musgrave and Lady Elliot.

Hate to leave a bad review but I have to. Very unprofessional and rude owners & staff.

Booked in advance and stated late arrival (8/9pm). Issue with card on booking site, updated it and all was fine. Within an hour of arriving, received an email the booking was cancelled. Immediately called up and was told they tried to contact us multiple times (no calls, texts or emails) and the card couldn’t be charged so it was cancelled by the owners. (Card was fine to be used and had been used in various other businesses around Australia)

Asked if we could just pay on arrival and that we had just drove 5+ hours, was told she would have to ask the owners and call us back. No call back after 20 mins and we were nearly there so we called back. The woman proceeded to tell us again why the booking was cancelled?! Stated we asked could we pay on arrival and she said she had asked owners and they said no they gave our room away already (so without 30 mins of cancellation they had booked someone else in eventhough we called straight away).

Told her that we were not impressed and they were leaving us stranded (8pm at night). And she hung up on us. Called back and no answer. So not only have they left us stranded, they were were extremely rude to us. Also to note, checked the site after and still 2 rooms available to book for that night. Luckily we were able to book another motel nearby last min and the woman at reception waited for us to arrive(a lot of the motels here close the receptions at 8pm)

DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE unless you’re prepared to be left stranded and rearrange your plans.

Cannot comment on rooms as we did not stay there.

Charm City Motel is an older motel that obviously the owner/ manager takes enormous pride in.

Beautiful comfortable beds, fabulous location, on main road, but not on a traffic light intersection, therefore no noisy breaking during the night – big bonus for us.

Very clean and tidy, undercover parking. It’s winter, so didn’t try out the pool area.

Look forward to staying again. Exceptional value for money.

      Thanks Rick, great customer service.

At around 04:00 BST, Valdo Calocane fatally stabbed two university students in the street followed by a school caretaker whose van he stole. After driving the van into people at a nearby bus stop, Calocane was arrested.
On 16 June 2023 Calocane was charged with three counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder and on 17 June he was remanded in custody. Was an awesome feed. Renovations getting done but didn’t effect the quality or services. We had a chicken parmigiana and a surf and turf. Chicken was beautiful with a fresh salad. Price was good, and the steak was cooked perfect, but the downside was the surf sauce, partner said it was a bit powdery and the price was a bit rich.

We were invited to a friends party and attended, mainly in the rear garden area. Drinks were cold, service was friendly and quick, drinks were well priced. Got to tell where it’s really at though. The food…everything was organised by the host via the hotels kitchen…pizza’s were really really nice, and the platter of Asian style spring rolls and a-like were equally good. Put this on the list of places to eat and drink out at…relaxed atmosphere but lively enough to feel like you’ve been “Out-Out” Will be back for sure!

We had dinner here for my Sons 30th Birthday and the food was amazing! We all really enjoyed our meals and they were above what we expected! We totally recommend this Hotel!

Purchased meals but paid $25 to $30 for meals that should be $15. Sauce on parmy came from a jar, chicken was dry and burnt and topping barely there. 200g rump should have been dog food. Microwave meals would have been better.

Great location and great value. Manage to get a single room with just 60 dollars. But it has no air conditioning and the room I don’t know why but it is like an oven. But it is cheap though.

The restroom and shower is shared. But there is a fridge and TV in the room.

The staff are really nice and friendly. Just stay for night but he is kind enough to tell me the landmark in Rockhampton.

You can just park your car there and basically a lot of places are in walking distance as it is located in the town.

Overall it is not a bad place to stay if you are looking for a cheap hotel.

Went for lunch. Wasn’t very busy but still had a 45+ min wait for very underwhelming food, which then had to go back as it was missing items.

On the positive side, the bar man was friendly and the food was inexpensive. Though seem over priced to compensate.

      Wouldn’t bother returning.

The room was dirty, the aircon filter so clogged it would hardly work, the Tv was not on it’s mount on the wall and there was no remote. The door out to the balcony had glass that was almost falling out. Then the showers were filthy and moldy. The last problem is not the hotels fault. but might make you think again about this hotel…..thousands of birds roost in the trees by the river and they sqwark all night.

Loving the zing of the buffalo wings The tender ribs were a future order in the making.. The best coleslaw I’ve ever tasted. We came for the $12 Parma but definitely will be back for the $15 steak night!
