The leafy seadragon (Phycodurus eques) or Glauert's seadragon, is a marine fish. It is the only member of the genus Phycodurus in the family Syngnathidae, which includes seadragons, pipefish, and seahorses. It is found along the southern and western coasts of Australia. The name is derived from their appearance, with long leaf-like protrusions coming from all over the body. These protrusions are not used for propulsion; they serve only as camouflage. The leafy seadragon propels itself by means of a pectoral fin on the ridge of its neck and a dorsal fin on its back closer to the tail end. These small fins are almost completely transparent and difficult to see as they undulate minutely to move the creature sedately through the water, completing the illusion of floating seaweed. Popularly known as "leafies", they are the marine emblem of the state of South Australia and a focus for local marine conservation.

    Visited for the first time today to buy a new snake viv. I was assisted by the lovely Damien who was SO HELPFUL! The shop has an overwhelmingly huge variety of products, including my other faves like pond plants and invertebrates, I was in heaven! Good variety of lovely wee snek hatchies, I’ve got my eye on one of the marbles, I’ll be back soon 🙂

    A great time to explore everything aquariums! Incredible selection of marine life and some reptiles too. Absolutely everything you’d need for supplies. Friendly, approachable and knowledgeable staff. Lots to explore with multiple rooms, could easily spend a few hours. Would definitely recommend, well worth the trip?

    Visited this place mainly for the pandas which was lovely! Lucky to see at least one of the 2 pandas active during the feeding session. We also went around to see the other attractions and other animals—some areas were crowded but this is expected as it is school holidays.
    There are water fountains around the area which is good.
    Shaded seating areas are available for quick rests in between.
    Toilets were clean.

    We had an absolutely fantastic day with heaps to see. The giraffes were amazing and the meerkats and otters were just adorable.
    The coffee at the cafe in the middle of the zoo was just delicious.

    I think it’s brilliant how they have a big bird cage backing on to the toilets in the middle of the zoo but definitely feel sorry for the birds with the things they have to smell!
    Of course the toilets could have some better up keep but over all it wasn’t the worst.

    It was our first outing to the Zoo. Wide variety of animals to see and great outing overall. All facilities are very well maintained, water points throughout the Zoo as well for filling up your water bottle. The giant Panda was our favourite. Unfortunately there were no Koala’s at the time of our visit. We will definitely be back.

    We had a fantastic visit to the zoo, where we enjoyed seeing a wide variety of animals and admiring the beautiful plants. A helpful tip for future visitors: try to visit the pandas before lunchtime, as they tend to sleep in the afternoon, making them harder to spot later in the day.

    Good collection of wild life. Kids loved it. On site facilities for dining (cafeteria), seating and tables, toilets.Has a play area for kids as well. Space is creative utilized contain and display wild life.
