Mount Augustus is located roughly 1,000 km north of Perth, in the Mount Augustus National Park in Western Australia. The name is also given to the neighbouring pastoral lease, Mount Augustus Station. The local Wadjari people call it Burringurrah, after a Dreamtime figure, a young boy who was speared and turned into a rock. It has been a sacred site for thousands of years.It is a prominent inselberg that stands 1,106 metres (3,629 ft) above sea level, or approximately 860 metres (2,820 ft) above the surrounding plain, and covers an area of 4,795 hectares (11,850 acres). It has a central ridge which is almost eight kilometres (5 mi) long.

    Great little walk and specifically for the Tunnel. It’s an interesting part of WA history that more people should know about. But it’s cool how most things built in the late 1800s were linked, from Fremantle to the Perth Mint to this Tunnel, they all played a part in the bigger scheme that was Western Australia at the time.     Its a well maintain forest. I like the trails. Love the view and the the story of the place as well. My suggestion is prepare water bottle as you go trail, especially on the hot summer like now. They do have a great picnic area.

    A good place to walk, enjoy the view and have a good day of picnic. Be sure to use sunscreen, wear a hat and bring a liter or more of water per person. ?

    A beautiful location around 30 mins from Perth providing bbq / picnic facilities, toilets and plenty of parking but be warned, it’s $15 entry per car. Make a day if it and get your entry fees worth. Walking trails of various lengths with waterfalls nearby. Dont forget a hat and sunscreen. I wouldn’t recommend going during rain or extreme heat. Spring and autumn is a great time.

    Great place for a walk. Lots of different walking options. Flat walks to more off piste walks. Trails are well directed with regular markers, so you can’t get lost. Nice picnic areas. Good for families as well as avid walkers.

    Such a nice day to visit the waterfall here. Air is crisp, wild flowers are happily blooming, big stream after some rainy days, and fab view of Perth. Very accessible trails for all family members.

    Stunning place to visit. We went sun arvo in Sept.

    Limited car parking & signs saying fines for parking on verges.
    Limited picnic tables
    There were toilets the smell hit you way before you got too close so didn’t venture further! (This was all at the top car park)

    The tracks to the main lookout are fairly easy, anything else and you definitely need good walking shoes. Was a mild spring day, definitely need water, sunscreen and hat.

    We hiked to the shoulder, to avoid some of the crowds, but think we missed the main path and headed straight down. Was lovely and cool at the bottom. There is another car park at the bottom.

    Plenty of water flowing, but have also been in summer when that isn’t the case.

    Really enjoyed my day, but was quite busy. Taking the route we did there wasn’t too many people until you got to the main lookouts then it was really busy. But oh the views!!!

    It’s always a pleasure come here for hiking, spending some time away from the chaos of the city, listening to the nature elements, watching the flow of the water in the small streams and observe the waterfalls, encounter birds, insects, see the blossoms of plants and flowers. You have different tracking levels sorted by difficult and lengths. Awesome place to exercise your muscles as well as your dog’s one. There are bathrooms and picnic tables or flat area for picnic.

    Absolutely amazing trails. From easy to hard trails. The views were amazing. We took the Pink trail (the longer one) All our family got through it, from 4 year old through to 55 year old, all non experienced.

    A place that can be handle well for a beginner level hiker like me – might be a little boring for those high level as less challenging! We start about 11am and finished in an hour about, didn’t finish the whole trail as getting hot and a lot flies there ~ we dare not keep open our mouth and talk ? (P was keep swiging his hand while walking ?)
