The Kokoda Track or Trail is a single-file foot thoroughfare that runs 96 kilometres (60 mi) overland – 60 kilometres (37 mi) in a straight line – through the Owen Stanley Range in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The track was the location of the 1942 World War II battle between Japanese and Allied – primarily Australian – forces in what was then the Australian territory of Papua. The track runs from Owers' Corner in Central Province, 50 kilometres (31 mi) east of Port Moresby, across rugged and isolated terrain which is only passable on foot, to the village of Kokoda in Oro Province. It reaches a height of 2,490 metres (8,169 ft) as it passes around the peak of Mount Bellamy. The track travels primarily through the land of the Mountain Koiari people. Hot, humid days with intensely cold nights, torrential rainfall and the risk of endemic tropical diseases such as malaria make it a challenging trek. Hiking the trail normally takes between four and twelve days; the fastest recorded time is 16 hours 34 minutes.

    The place is so nice, PNG history is in there, from 1 tribes to another. Awesome i was amazed by the reach history of PNG. Its like going back in time and reminiscing the event of the past. I really appreciated i got a time to come here. You wont regret visiting this place.?

    Probably the best museum I’ve ever been to. A simple but thorough collection of extremely well preserved and fascinating objects that represent the tapestry of Papua New Guinean culture. An absolute must if in Port Moresby – there isn’t much tourism completion in town!

    One of the most incredible places to visit in PNG. It provides so much historical and cultural context through artifacts, clothing, and art. There is so much to see and everything is well explained.

    It is free to enter, but do ask for donations. Note that the staff will sometimes close the museum if they have a meeting. Recommend getting there early in the day (right when it opens) to ensure one has time to see things.

    For you who love art and History. You may enjoy the beauty and History of PNG from the artefacts. The flow and presentation is really good and well prepared. The information in each diorama is really useful. It will be really good if the management provide audio as well. Must visit list while in PNG!

    Incredible place you head to in Port Moresby! This “nature park” is like a zoo, filled with native PNG wildlife that might be hard to spot in the wild. There are aviaries filled with birds of paradise, rooms of tree-kangaroos and wallabies, cassowaries and crocodiles, and a whole reptile house.

    One can walk around and see all the sights within an hour, but taking time to observe the animals and their unique behaviors is a must! There is a fun gift store, a small cafe, and lots of picnic tables and areas.

    Highly recommend for anyone who comes to this area and wants to view some native creatures!

    Very fun! Went around Valentines Day with a group of friends. There was a photographer taking photos near the entrance and cute little heart set ups

    Love the Cafe there as well – burger is great. Workers are all friendly and professional

    As long as you get a private security guard to take you there, it’s safe and got a good mix of animals and plants. It’s like, one of two places to visit in Port Moresby, so as far as PNG goes it’s one of the best sights in their capital.

    It was absolutely fantastic.

    It is really well managed and cared for. The enclosures are neat and give a sense of being in the forest with the animals. A must see if you are visiting Papua New Guinea!

    Very Clean and Organized, beautiful scenery for photography.
    Also the place is nice and safe for family outings, outdoor birthday parties, wedding parties or ceremonies and many more.
    If you happen to walk inside the park, you’ll bump into either a security guard or a cleaner , all friendly people working there and most of all very professional when they approach you.
    Its a good place to relax and cool off after weeks or months of working in the heat in Moresby city or spending too much time indoor in the aircon.
    Come see it yourself reward your lungs with some fresh air.??
