a month agoprivate King room with great view. just a bed, toilet and shower which were tiny, but it’s all we needed. ( couldn’t have got in the shower if we were any chunkier tho ) 5 minute walk to suncorp and the city . unfortunately they didn’t have any close parking for us, as they’d sold off their parking for concert goers, but location was key. pool and rooftop bar were a winner too. thought it was a bit expensive but again, location was great and after a big night ,the bed was really comfy. Very clean and tidy ?in the last weekGiving 1 star purely because I was left with nowhere to go during the housing crises I am an Australian citizen and I had to get out of a abusive share house I just had gotten out of hospital from Kidney stones I wasn’t well and it’s the only place I could think of temporarily to get on my feet while I searched for housing.I called and I booked with them over the phone and paid and they took my details over the phone without explaining they can’t take locals. I booked an Uber and got what I had and when I got to the desk they told me they can’t take locals. I said I had paid and they gave me a look of they just want me gone.
I wanted an instant refund but the refund would take 3 days. It was also raining outside and getting late. For the first time in my life I felt like this is it I could be homeless and it’s raining outside. The staff were carrying on like just another day in the office I couldn’t believe it was shocking. I’m just not used to ever being treated this poorly I felt like what it felt to be in the eyes of others. Humiliated a scum of the earth a bum and really all I wanted was to get away from abuse and have a better life.
There was absolutely no sense of empathy or trying to understand what had happened and that they shouldn’t of taken my money or booked me in and the position I was in. I was totally out of options just out of hospital and caught a train 8 hours to Central Queensland afterwards. It was a real shame the way I was treated and I believe in this instance if the business was reasonable possibly they could of listened and made an exception for at least the night considering it was raining and the refund hadn’t been processed.
3 months agoPrivate room was basic but clean and nice, very loud trains passing at nighttime which kept us awake but not the fault of the hostel I suppose, many staff very rude. We ware hanging around for an hour to go get out bus and very disappointed that we had to pay to leave our bags in lockers and that we ware unable to use the communal bathrooms on the ground floor as we had checked out. We had already paid to stay for three nights. Showers are poor and bathrooms ware very dirty. Overall its location is not too bad and it’s not overly expensive but again staff and cleanliness let it down.2 months agoWorst hostel so far in Australia. Staff were great, friendly and helpful, but the building itself and the processes in place need a complete overhaul. Cleaning is seriously so bad. The building feels like a haunted hospital. Doona cover looked like it hadn’t been washed since it was bought in the 90s, covered in white dried fluid. The toilets that have showers aren’t signposted so you spend ages looking. The showers are dark, musty, without windows and only run cold. Wall next to my bed had something gross running down it. Room was next to noisy train tracks. Location isn’t great, it’s a minimum 40 minute walk into Fortitude Valley. Kitchen was sooooo grim, noodle blocked sinks. The rooftop area needs some serious interior design love put into it.Also, the worst grievance, the east coast fork shortage continues here.
a month agoI was absolutely abused by a guy name nick hes a manger blamed me for being sick with a little cold and kicked me out and they randomly call an ambulance then kick me out. So disgusting. I was absolutely abused by him and then he says I was harassing the guest. His name is nick and he’s a manager absolutely disgusting service and leaves me to suffer in the street and threatened me with police feral. Because I was sick going from cold weather Canberra to a new type of weather. Like what do U expect. Absolutely disgusting. He will kick U out if U are sick. Ask him for his tapes. He was so rude nick the manager works on Fridays and said he’s been there all week and lies about what he does. Disgusting.
