Pros and Cons of Shopping at Woolworth

    Woolworths Supermarkets In Melbourne
    Woolworths Supermarkets in Melbourne

Woolworths and traditional markets both offer different shopping experiences that cater to different needs and preferences. Here are some pros and cons to consider when choosing between the two:

    Woolworth:

    • Pros:
    • – Convenience: Woolworths stores are typically located in easily accessible areas, making it convenient for shoppers to visit.
    • – Wide variety: Woolworths offers a wide range of products, including groceries, clothing, household items, and electronics, providing shoppers with one-stop shopping convenience.
    • – Quality assurance: Woolworths often offers branded products, ensuring a certain level of quality for shoppers.
    • – Online shopping: Woolworths also provides the option for shoppers to purchase items online and have them delivered to their doorstep, saving time and effort.
    • Cons:
    • – Higher prices: Compared to traditional markets, Woolworths products are generally priced higher due to factors such as branding and convenience.
    • – Limited bargaining: Shoppers may not have the opportunity to negotiate prices or bargain with sellers as they would in traditional markets.
    • – Less personal interaction: The shopping experience at Woolworths may lack the personal interaction and connection that can be found in traditional markets.

    Traditional market:

    • Pros:
    • – Lower prices: Traditional markets often offer products at lower prices compared to Woolworth, as they usually source directly from producers or wholesalers.
    • – Bargaining opportunities: Shoppers can negotiate prices or bargain with sellers, potentially obtaining better deals.
    • – Fresh and local products: Traditional markets are known for offering a variety of fresh and locally sourced products, allowing shoppers to support local businesses and enjoy a unique shopping experience.
    • – Personal interaction: Shoppers can directly communicate with sellers, forming connections and gaining insights about the products they are purchasing.
    • Cons:
    • – Limited variety: Traditional markets may have a limited range of products compared to larger stores like Woolworth.
    • – Inconvenience: Traditional markets are often located in specific areas, requiring shoppers to travel to reach them.
    • – Time-consuming: Shopping at traditional markets can be more time-consuming due to the need to visit multiple stalls or vendors to find everything on your shopping list.

Ultimately, the choice between Woolworths and traditional markets depends on personal preferences, budget, and shopping needs. While Woolworths offers convenience, a wide variety, and quality assurance, traditional markets provide lower prices, bargaining opportunities, fresh and local products, and personal interaction.

      I shopped on 21/05/23.
I saw the laundry liquid on sale which is 1/2 price, so I purchased one,
after paying for that, I checked the receipt shows I paid for original price.

Then I checked the shelf again, ane found that only the liquid with softener is on sale, others are not, but all the liquid is on the same shelf which says half price.
So I tried to find a staff to ask for refund, the lady told me I can only do exchange, cannot do refund, so even I replace to the discount one, I still need to purchase something to cover the rest of money.
I told her it’s because some workers put the item on wrong shelf with wrong price tag, then she blame on me it’s all my fault because I didn’t check the price tag and gave me attitude.
I felt like it’s kind of cheating on customer, and there’s no way that I cannot do the refund for this.

So this Woolworths is slightly different from most, it’s elevated on one side that you can access through a lift and stairs whilst on the other it’s connected to a small food court on ground level. It’s fairly similar to your standard Woolworths in terms or what they stock. It doesn’t have that many check outs by staff any more, it’s just all self check outs now.

Honestly, this is the worst Woolworths I’ve seen in years. I can’t even calculate the number of times we had to go back to replace rotten fruits, mouldy berries, or veggies; you don’t want to see their “fresh” produce shelf by the end of the day – it should go straight to the bin by the look of it, not to be sold at full price. But as they are the only shop in Victoria Harbour, I guess there is no motivation to do any better. So disappointing.

Great location as it’s very near my house. The customer service has increased a lot, especially in Deli. They always seem friendly and approachable. However, I noticed there are several things that could be improved.
      • Long wait, either in checkout or deli, due to limited staff I believe
      • Cages blocking pathway, and being left unattended
      • Presentation in deli, such as dry meat, marina mix looks unattractive (other Woolworths have salmon pieces in it), and often empty stocks

Not one of their better stores. Not a single trolley available yet again. One guy alone to serve the whole of the deli and seafood counter.
It’s faster and easier to walk across the road and shop at ALDI.

I think now Woolworths has to have the best customer service out of the two Giants Coles and Woolworths at least you can get a checkout quickly and not have to work for the company for free the check yourself out which also takes jobs away from people it’s expensive as his Coles and I think they could look at reducing their profits and reducing their prices that would help inflation of course pigs would fly before any of that happened

Tried to scan my Woolworths rewards card and it came up on the screen that it had registered on that sale, but when I got my receipt it showed that it hadn’t registered my card. The person at the front counter couldn’t have been less helpful and his manager was even more blasé about the whole thing. Said they couldn’t do anything even though around 6 months ago when this happened again the manager on duty then was able to credit me back the lost points on the spot. Seriously Woolworths have made so much profit, using inflation as in excuse for raising prices constantly they could invest more in customer service training for their staff. Absolutely disgraceful service.

Massive Bunnings with a very large outdoor area for plants and trees. Loads of planters and pots available with more expensive clay pots or cheaper plastic ones also available. Loads of flowers for outdoors and lighting too. Super helpful staff who have knowledge on some of the plants and trees too. All reasonably priced compared to other shops. Everything you need for your garden worth a visit. Also sells seasonal decorations. It also has a cafe for snacks and coffee as well as bathrooms.

Large hardware store. Friendly staff. In addition to finding all kinds of parts for your home fixes or DIY works, this store also has a cafe, kids playground, key cutting service, nursery, hire equipment and public toilets. If you’re looking for general items, I’d recommend comparing prices with Kmart, BigW, Woolworths or coles first before heading in here, they’re not always the cheapest. Plenty of free parking spots available. Partners with flybuys.

They’re excellently trained. As big as it is, you can always get or find help. I even think that they might have a few staff at allocated at the aisles that they specialise in to specifically help us. Being such a big place, you’d expect it to be difficult to find assistance. Price gouging vultures, what they do is raise the price by heaps and then put it on special to try trick customers whilst raking in massive profits during a cost of living crisis. I do my best to avoid.
I would recommend walking a few extra blocks and use Aldi instead and not support their greed.

It’s your standard Coles. Some things aren’t always in stock, at least they have numerous self service checkouts, and it’s pretty quiet on the weekends.

The speaker at the entrance to the self service that blasts a welcome message as you walk past actually caused a flare up of my tinnitus ear condition.

It would be nice to not be assaulted in the ear while I collect my weekly shop.
      Otherwise, the store is okay.

I used a self checkout register and it froze when I changed payment method, the staff watching checkouts told me to wait for it to fix itself, and I waited & waited & then the service manager told me keep waiting. Eventually they got the store manager to restart the register and I then I had to go pay at the service counter. It took about 15 minutes of waiting at the faulty checkout. None of the 3 staff who were involved including the store manager apologised to me for the long delay and inconvenience. The opposite of good customer service and a horrible shopping trip.

Have you ever dreamed of travelling to different places with your loved ones?
Ofcourse we all do, who wouldn’t want to seek adventure? Explore new places, try out different cuisines but ofcourse it’s more worth it when you’re with your love ones, making memories worth keeping making them happy right? Ticking each one on your bucket list, be it in the forest, ocean, or wherever you plan or what to do because family is everything to us. All we ever wanted is a good future for them. As what JM Laurence once said, “It’s not what we have in life, but who we have in our life that matters.”

Smaller footprint and range than suburban locations, but large enough to stock most items. Checkout was fast enough though the store was quite packed. Some lunch options for office workers

Smaller, express-style store that caters mainly to people from nearby office towers or those on their way to and from the train station. Still, it carries a large range of products, has plenty of self-serve checkouts and while it can be crowded you’re usually in and out quickly. Not the place for a weekly shop but ideal to get something for lunch / dinner.

Smaller size store but still has most of the go to items I’ve picked up in other locations, including with a decent selection of fresh fruits & veggies. Right by the train and off the main street to easily get to.

However, they’ve been closing earlier the last few weeks and didn’t bother updating their hours here (they even went as far as to confirm the incorrect ones) and today, they even closed the entry gates 30 minutes before that at 8:30. Whatever time works for their staff is what they should go with of course but that just needs to be better communicated.

Big, bright, nice and has a huge range of products. Fresh fruit and vegetables but it is becoming so expensive not just lettuce other veggies as well. Location is good. Lots of parking spaces but the traffic flow can be very slow. There is a sushi bar where they make sushi and other Japanese food on the spot.
Didn’t have a good experience with click and collect as we have to wait for some half an hour, also sometimes they didn’t give the right product. Exchange is not a problem but troublesome that people have to come back for that.

Pick up order via click and collect straight to boot. It’s a good option to avoid crowded stores. Efficient and speedy. This is a pretty big supermarket with a huge range of products. There is also a sushi bar and roast chooks. Good selection in the deli and the seafood bar as well as the butcher. They even have kangaroo and venison meat, not just the standard beef, lamb, pork and chicken. Good fresh fruit and veg section as well as herbs.

As a local and live next door to this store it’s very convenient. The service is always friendly but sometimes slow during the busy periods more staff would be good especially for the front service desk. This is a management issue. but the lady’s are doing a fantastic job. Especially Lorretta and Anna. Also Cathy has fantastic customer service skills when I need help finding products.

Worst experience ever! I had a basket and was ready to check out at the self checkout yesterday, and felt utterly disappointed at the staff there. There was a lovely lady in the self checkout I couldn’t catch her name I think it was something like Gloria? She did an amazing job trying to calm down the situation. Majority of the machines where not working and she was ringing the bell, no one came to assist her even tho she rang the bell multiple times, 10mins later one staff member who seemed to be supervisor I think her name badge said Bristy or Cristy either one, came in and berated her making it seem like she was at fault for not calling help, and then walked off shrugging her shoulders. How’s that for stupid behaviour. Then comes along another lady who might be a supervisor too she was tall and had long hair and a sour face , The self checkout staff signalled out to her and you wouldn’t believe what she did, she saw the signal from the staff member but ignored it and turned around to keep walking. Crazy! If this is how you treat your staff ,who are trying to help customers out, You have another thing coming for you! Absolutely atrocious. I will go to corporate if I need too , you are investing your money in the wrong people. Thank you Gloria for your lovely help yesterday. You handle the whole ordeal in the best way possible, you stayed calm and professional. For the other two staff members, I hope my children never have to work under you two. Absolutely atrocious behaviour!!!!!

Last year March 2023, I send my watch (automatic) to this shop for battery change. They quote me on battery change and for case kit (water proofing). Cost me around $370. Upon retrieval I didn’t bothered to check as it was working well and it was stated on the receipt that everything was ok. Around January this year I was about to change time and date. The crown was fully detached from the watch as it shown on the photo.. I send back my watch to the shop for the repair. They quoted me $400.00 plus on repair, no warranty from last repair. There was no other way that watch will be damage that much inside as ONLY the shop who gutted my item. I reckon this is too strategical to rip off consumers. The value on both repairs can purchase already a brand new watch. Which cannot as the watch is my late father possession.

My wife and I attended the WB store in the Queen Street Mall, Brisbane on 1 and 2 Mar 24. On both occasions we were served by Tessa. We were watch shopping and ultimately decided not to make a purchase for personal reasons. On both occasions in the store, Tessa and other staff who assisted us were wonderful. Always cheery, positive, and not pushy about making a sale. We were extremely grateful for such excellent service and would recommend this store to anyone. Many thanks.

5 Star Experience buying a gift from here. Was assisted by a very helpful employee by the name of Nicholas. He aided in describing each timepiece and its usage in a wonderful manner, and indirectly taught me a lot about timepieces themselves. He was very nice, easy to talk to, and most importantly friendly. Moreover, every employee in the store was very welcoming, and it helped enjoy my experience. Well done!

I recently had my grandfather’s watch repaired with A.J.Watch Repairs. This watch is very precious to me. They did SUCH a beautiful job of restoration and repair. I am absolutely thrilled with the results. I can now wear this watch and carry a part of him with me everyday. Their customer service went above and beyond. They were wonderful to deal with, did an immaculate restoration on a very old and discontinued watch, and were mindful and compassionate regarding the sentimental value of my timepiece. I would HIGHLY recommend.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced Dropped a watch off on 8 March 2023 Two weeks later I accepted the quote I hadn’t heard anything in six weeks so I dropped in and was told if we haven’t called you it’s not ready Two more months passed and I rang to inquire and was told they would call me back ( crickets ) Rang back again month or two later same response (crickets) Went back to the store and was told they would for call me This time they did call back and it was ready in three weeks That’s over 10 months of no Communication On an upside the watch does look good and is working but time will tell (pun intended) Looking forward to your response as to why it’s my fault

Had a disappointing customer service experience here yesterday.

Work done on my watch for $480 without confirmation of the quote. I could have taken it to the manufacturer interstate for less, but wanted to use a local family business (watch not in warranty).

Was told two messages and a call had been made to me.. but this simply wasn’t the case. I have not at any point received a call or message from the shop. In fact, the only reason I knew it was done was because I called to see where things were up to!

I still don’t even know what the diagnosis was! Was told yesterday it was fee for a service and reseal ($480!!) – but the watch went in not working at all… Watch was at the shop for close to six months (yes, I should have called sooner).

Here’s the kicker.. No apology was offered, however they did offer to knock $100 from the bill and I gratefully accepted – when he ran it up only knocked off $80!! Haha!

I only said it was disappointing and copped it but felt like I had been taken for a ride over the whole encounter. Not often I leave a review, but it’s left a bad taste in my mouth.

They do get two stars as the watch was repaired and appears to be working, and a recalibration was previously done on another auto for free.
