When it comes to choosing where to do your grocery shopping, you may be considering the convenience of a supermarket like Coles or opting for a traditional market. Both options have their own advantages and disadvantages, depending on your specific needs and preferences.
Here are some pros and cons of choosing Coles as your shopping destination:
Convenience: Coles is a one-stop shop where you can find everything you need in one place. It offers a wide range of products, from fresh produce to household items, making it convenient for shoppers to get all their essentials in a single visit.
Price competitiveness: Supermarkets like Coles often run promotions and offer discounted prices, making it more affordable for customers to shop for groceries. Coles also has a loyalty program, providing additional savings and benefits for its customers.
Accessibility: Coles stores are present in various locations, including urban and suburban areas, making it easily accessible for most shoppers. They also offer extended operating hours, providing flexibility for customers to shop at their preferred time.
Online shopping: Coles provides an online shopping platform, allowing customers to conveniently order their groceries from the comfort of their homes. This can be beneficial for individuals who prefer to avoid crowded spaces or have difficulty physically visiting the store.
Product variety: Coles offers a wide range of products, including international and specialty items, giving shoppers a diverse selection to choose from. This can be particularly advantageous for customers seeking specific ingredients or exploring new flavors.
On the other hand, traditional markets also have their own set of advantages and disadvantages:
Freshness: Traditional markets often pride themselves on offering fresh and locally sourced produce. Shoppers can find a variety of fruits, vegetables, seafood, and meat that are often sourced directly from farmers or fishermen. This can be particularly appealing for individuals who prioritize high-quality and organic products.
Social interaction: Traditional markets provide an opportunity for shoppers to interact with local vendors and build personal connections. It allows customers to ask questions, receive recommendations, and learn more about the origin and production practices of the products they are purchasing.
Potential for haggling: In traditional markets, there is often room for negotiation and haggling over prices. Shoppers can try to get a better deal by leveraging their bargaining skills, potentially leading to additional savings.
Cultural experience: Traditional markets offer a unique cultural experience, with vibrant displays of local products and flavors. They can provide a sense of authenticity and a glimpse into the local traditions and customs of the community.
Availability: Traditional markets may have limitations in terms of product availability, especially when it comes to specialty or international items. They may also have limited operating hours and be located in more specific areas, requiring additional time and effort to access for some customers.
Ultimately, the decision between Coles and traditional markets depends on your personal preferences, priorities, and circumstances. Consider factors such as convenience, price, product variety, freshness, social interaction, and cultural experience to make an informed choice that best suits your needs.
Not as new as some stores but still up there as one of the better ones for layout and size. Parking is easy as its only a short walk inside before the store. Staff are usually pretty friendly and helpful. Its quite a busy store so there can be a bit of a wait for the self serve checkouts and unfortunately like most stores its a small area when there’s trolleys and full of people which can be a bit frustrating. Stock is usually really good with shelves full and regular size isles that aren’t cluttered. They’ve added additional self serve registers that are like regular registers now for when you have larger quantities so it has the belt to put your items on which I definitely like to utilise.

I did a whole trolley of shopping and no checkouts open except for the self service. On asking for a checkout to be opened I was told that there were no spare staff to man it. Eventually a staff member put my shopping through the self service for me instructing me on how to do it. I nicely informed her I had no interest in using the self service now or in the future. Very disappointed customers are being pressured into using the self service. What about the disabled and the elderly ?

When it comes to choosing a shopping destination, many factors come into play. One major decision consumers face is whether to shop at a discount grocery store like Aldi or a traditional market. Both options have their own pros and cons, and it ultimately comes down to personal preferences and priorities.
Pros of choosing Aldi:
Lower prices: One of the main advantages of shopping at Aldi is its lower prices. The store focuses on providing quality products at affordable prices by implementing cost-saving measures, such as charging for grocery bags and requiring a deposit for shopping carts.
Private label brands: Aldi offers a wide range of private label brands, which are often cheaper compared to national brands. These store-branded products provide a more budget-friendly option without compromising on quality.
Efficiency: Aldi is known for its efficient store layout, where products are displayed in their shipping boxes. This reduces the need for extensive stocking and keeps overhead costs lower, contributing to the store’s affordable pricing.
Limited selection: While this may be seen as a con for some, Aldi’s limited selection can be advantageous for shoppers who find too many options overwhelming. It can also lead to faster shopping trips.
Eco-friendly practices: Aldi encourages shoppers to bring reusable bags and provides options for recycling their packaging waste. These initiatives contribute to reducing environmental impact.
Cons of choosing Aldi:
Limited brand variety: Since Aldi primarily focuses on its own private label brands, shoppers who prefer specific national brands may not find them at this store.
Packaging preferences: Some shoppers may have packaging preferences, such as wanting to buy products in specific sizes or materials, which may not always be available at Aldi.
No online shopping: Unlike traditional markets, Aldi does not offer online shopping options, which might be inconvenient for those who prefer to shop from the comfort of their own homes.
No local specialty products: Traditional markets often showcase local produce, homemade goods, and specialty items that Aldi may not carry. Shoppers looking for unique or regional products may prefer traditional markets for a wider selection.
Shopping experience: While some shoppers appreciate the no-frills approach of Aldi, others may prefer the ambiance and customer service provided by traditional markets.
Ultimately, the choice between Aldi and a traditional market depends on factors such as pricing, brand preferences, shopping experience, and convenience. Considering these pros and cons can help consumers make an informed decision based on their individual needs.

A Comprehensive Guide to Using a Self-Service Car Wash
Using a self-service car wash can be a simple and cost-effective way to clean your vehicle. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use a self-service car wash:
Locate a Self-Service Car Wash: Use search engines or apps to find a nearby self-service car wash station.
Prepare Your Vehicle: Remove any personal belongings, trash, or loose objects from the car’s exterior.
Choose Your Service: Most self-service car washes offer different cleaning options, like soap, rinse, wax, etc. You may need to insert coins, bills, or a credit/debit card to select the desired service.
Pre-Rinse: Before applying soap, use the high-pressure rinse to remove loose dirt and debris.
Apply Soap: Select the soap option and use the wand to spray your car. Start from the top and work your way down, covering all areas.
Scrub if Necessary: Some stations provide a foam brush. You can scrub your car to remove stubborn dirt. Be gentle to avoid scratching your car’s paint.
Rinse: After scrubbing, choose the rinse option to wash away the soap. Again, start from the top and work your way down.
Wax (Optional): Some self-service car washes offer a wax option. Apply this if you want a protective coating on your vehicle.
Dry Your Vehicle: Use the provided air dryer or a microfiber towel to dry your car. Drying by hand can prevent water spots.
Vacuum Interior (Optional): Some locations have vacuum stations to clean your car’s interior. Insert coins or pay as required.
Inspect Your Vehicle: Do a final walk-around to ensure all areas are clean and to your satisfaction.
Follow Safety Guidelines: Always adhere to the instructions and warnings provided at the car wash station. Wear appropriate clothing, and be mindful of slippery floors.
Leave the Bay Clean: If there’s a trash can, dispose of any garbage. Put away any provided tools like brushes back where they belong.
Exit Promptly: Be mindful of others waiting and exit the wash bay in a timely manner.
Remember, every self-service car wash might have slightly different equipment and procedures, so take a moment to read any posted instructions or ask for assistance if needed. Self-service car washes are typically open 24/7 and can be a convenient way to maintain your car’s appearance.

Good for when in the need or you can’t get to markettown.. prices are a bit high, but the produce is very fresh as most woolworths are.. I’ll definitely go there again.. great service and range..

I have been shopping there for around six years now, the staff are wonderful and the store is well established.
Woolworths Charlestown Square
Address: 30 Pearson St, Charlestown NSW 2290, Australia
We came here on Thursday 20th July 2023 at 1:30pm and again at 1:45pm as we normally do to get our food shopping done and after we finished we left and went to the chemist and then realised we had forgotten a couple of things so went back 1 item was to purchased at the customer service desk but we ended up leaving without all the items we went back for due to the rude and disrespectful customer service behaviour we copped from some young women who claimed to be a manager who definitely should not have that job title and or be in customer service she’s very rude and argues and calls customers liers and doesn’t know how to treat older people and people with disabilities with respect and curtsy,
Clearly her higher male store manager doesn’t want to do anything about it when a official complaint is made to the Woolworths customer complaints line he said he will chat with them but that is all he would do to clear it up this woman needs to loose her job before the store starts loyal customers no compassion or empathy from either staff member and they’re very judgmental and treats everyone including older people and customers with disabilities like theives and criminals,
Probably be avoiding this store from now on but otherwise will not be getting served by this young lady again ,
Please start treating all your customers as you want to be treated it goes both ways we be polite and respectful towards the staff members as expected and these people need to be respectful and polite towards customers as well,
This store manager and staff change around has gone bad this time please bring back the previous manager. ?
Thanks Aimee Stromeier

Our favourite Woollies, with a Coles directly across from it and lots of other great shops. Bakers Delight & a newsagent right there also so it’s a fantastic place to shop for everything you need.

Anyone who has seen my reviews in the past knows I don’t hand out praise often or unless absolutely deserved and a Woolworths store is more likely to be a target and Charlestown Woolies is no different. However, after doing the weekly shopping this past Sunday my partner and I have nothing but praise for the checkout operater we were fortunate enough to be blessed with. Hayley was polite, professional, efficient, used common sense and was fast. 15 out of 10. I would say promote her but that would take her away from the checkouts. At the very least she should be a staff trainer.

I was after a pair of Scholl gel insoles for work and had already seen that Chemist Warehouse had them for $24.99. I found them at Woolworths for $30 so I asked if they price match and the answer was a flat NO. So much for every day low prices Woolies!!

Honestly I believe the best stores in the country. Great staff shelves always stocked and clean. Fresh produce always top class. Meat section with specials and good prices. I love this store
