This shopping centre has a good vibe with a great mix of retailers and services – the main 2 for me being Woolworths and the Medical Centre. It gets crazy busy around school pick up time and whilst parking is free, it can be a little difficult to find a park thanks to all the construction work going on at the Caboolture Hospital next door.

A very handy little shopping centre that has all the basics. The whole lot could do with a going over with a heavy duty pressure washer, especially around the Coffee Club area, ……. dirt, dust and germs abound!!

Very convenient for those who lives near the Central Lake community of Caboolture. We were visiting and stopped by to pick up our groceries at Woolworth, wines at BWC and grab dinner at the Mexican restaurant at the center. Ample parking space and easy access.

Great little shopping centre. Sometimes parking can be a challenge depending on the time of day – school drop off and pick up times can be quite busy.

What to Consider When Visiting an Op Shop in Caloundra

    Lifeline Shop Caloundra in Caloundra
    Lifeline Shop Caloundra in Caloundra

When visiting a thrift store in Australia, there are several things to consider in order to make the most of your trip and find the best deals. Here are some important factors to keep in mind:

    • Location: Research the thrift stores in your local area and choose one that has a good reputation for offering quality items at affordable prices. Consider whether you prefer large chain stores or smaller independent boutiques.
    • Opening hours: Check the opening hours of the thrift store you plan to visit. Some may have limited hours or be closed on certain days, so it’s important to plan your visit accordingly.
    • Donation policies: If you plan on donating items to the thrift store, find out their donation policies in advance. Some stores may have restrictions on what they accept, so it’s important to be aware of these guidelines.
    • Quality of items: While thrift stores are known for offering great bargains, not all items may be in good condition. Take the time to inspect items thoroughly before purchasing, checking for any damage or wear and tear.
    • Variety of stock: Different thrift stores may specialize in different types of items. Some stores may be more focused on clothing, while others may have a wide range of furniture, home decor, or electronics. Choose a store that aligns with your preferences and needs.
    • Price range: Prices at thrift stores can vary significantly, so it’s worth checking out a few different stores to compare prices. Keep in mind that some stores may have regular sales or discount days, so it’s worth checking for any promotions or deals.
    • Customer reviews: Before visiting a thrift store, read reviews from other customers to get an idea of the overall quality and experience. Look for reviews that mention the store’s cleanliness, organization, and helpfulness of staff.
    • Payment options: Confirm the accepted payment methods before visiting the store. While most thrift stores accept cash, some may also accept debit or credit cards.
    • COVID-19 precautions: Due to the ongoing pandemic, thrift stores may have additional safety measures in place. Check if the store requires masks, limits the number of customers allowed inside at one time, or provides hand sanitizing stations.

By considering these factors, you can ensure a successful and enjoyable trip to a thrift store in Australia, where you can find great bargains and unique items.

I came here and went to go buy a book a really wanted. It was a Childs book. the volunteers said I couldn’t buy an old book because it didn’t have a price on it and they’d have to wait until next week for ‘book ladies’ to price it. I then came back to buy it and it turns out they sold my book to someone else! if something doesn’t have a price I am sure a fully grown adult volunteer is more than capable to price it one or two dollars for a old secondhand book themselves rather than waiting confused for a ‘book lady’. I am very upset and angry that the book I was happy to purchase was sold to someone else! Do better!

Some of the older female staff here really need to be spoken to regarding their treatment of customers. Twice I’ve been here to see them being rude to people about products not having a price and refusing to sell to them. Even stock on the floor not yet priced being taken back and customers scolded for picking it up. Perhaps don’t keep it on shelves accessible by customers? So rude, and disappointing to see. Won’t be back.

Sorry “spence spence” but I’ve gotta defend my team. Unfortunately any item/s brought to the counter without a price is unable to be purchased on the spot. If an item/s tag either falls off or is removed we are required to process it like any other donated item. Our team did indeed price this for you and held it behind the counter but you failed to return to purchase this item when you said you would. This was then sold after the fact to another customer. Please review fairly and truthfully in the future.

This was once a worthwhile stopover. The products now seem generally lesser quality and with lots of the increased pricing throughout the store ,often I found over new store bought prices. No longer worth the visit.

I don’t understand the pricing here, everything is so expensive. Who is the Opportunity for, at this shop? I would appreciate if someone could answer me that question, “who is the opportunity for, when you are selling donated jackets for $200?”

I had a horrible experience in the store, the staff especially this one lady who had a European accent treated my sister and I like thieves, first asking us to keep our beach bags up at the front of the store (then proceeding to take them off us) we complied with this, but after, while we were looking she continued to follow me around the shop, watching me like a hawk. This was very uncomfortable as It felt like I was a thief and I couldn’t shop in peace. I enjoy thrifting but this experience was horrible, shouldn’t have even bought anything. Sort out your staff it is not okay.

How to Donate to an Op Shop in Australia

If you have clothes, household items, or other goods that you no longer need or use, you may consider donating them to an op shop (opportunity shop) in Australia. Op shops are nonprofit thrift stores that sell donated items to raise funds for various charitable causes. Donating to an op shop allows you to declutter your home while also supporting a good cause. Here are some steps to donate to an op shop in Australia:

    • 1. Research op shops in your area: Use online directories or search engines to find op shops near you. There are numerous op shops across Australia, including those run by charities such as Vinnies, The Salvation Army, and Red Cross.
    • 2. Check donation guidelines: Before donating, it’s a good idea to check the op shop’s website or call them to find out what items they accept. Op shops typically accept clothing, shoes, accessories, homewares, books, toys, and small appliances.
    • 3. Sort and prepare your donations: Once you know what items the op shop accepts, separate them into categories and ensure they are clean and in good condition. Damaged or soiled items may not be accepted.
    • 4. Find a drop-off point or schedule a pickup: Op shops usually have designated drop-off points where you can bring your donations. Some may even offer pickup services for larger items such as furniture. Check the op shop’s website or call to find the most convenient option for you.
    • 5. Complete any necessary paperwork: Some op shops may require you to fill out a donation form when dropping off your items. This helps them keep track of the donations and provide you with a receipt for tax purposes, if applicable.
    • 6. Deliver your donations: Bring your sorted and prepared donations to the op shop’s drop-off point during their opening hours. If you have scheduled a pickup, make sure to be available at the agreed-upon time.
    • 7. Consider monetary donations: In addition to donating physical items, you may also have the option to make monetary donations to the op shop or the charity it supports. This can be done online or through various fundraising initiatives.

This store is always immaculately presented and well organised (sizes, colours and clothing types). The staff are super kind and helpful. There is an amazing “brand” section of quality items (yes, you pay a little more than “op shop prices” but the quality is worth it). They even rotate the layout of the store to account for the seasons! Well done Salvos Bundall team … you do great work!

Store is set up beautifully, has a boutique feel, light and airy. Yes there are higher priced quality items, obviously Salvos are trying to raise as much money as they can for their charity work. Saying that I found plenty of reasonable priced items in clothing, knick knacks and books. Sue one of the staff wrapped my candle sticks up carefully and served me with a friendly smile, nothing was too much trouble. I will be back

Brilliant salvos op shop in Bundall. Clean, well presented and well organised. Great selection of goods. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Bec especially is a delight, super friendly and helpful and quick with a smile and joke which is great. Salvos stores have good stock rotation and there’s a colour code system that I haven’t quite got the hang of but I gather each week the colour changes and goods of that colour get marked down, sometimes to just $2. Worth being aware of ?

Great location, easy car park provided off the road, warm polite and helpful staff despite us coming in close to closing time, prices are all what you expect at an op shop, all while supporting the good humanitarian works of the Salvos. I scored a pair of pants for $6 and a food processor for $40 – my wife and I have been looking for one, but it’s a relief knowing we can try this one for $40 instead of trying to find the perfect one for hundreds of $ without trying it! We had a great experience and recommend Salvos Stores to anyone looking to prevent waste, spend less, and support humanitarian efforts.

Another brilliant salvos op shop. This one is quite large and has heaps of great things. Haven’t walked out of there empty handed ever. Lots of great clothing, shoes and accessories, kitchenware and knick-knacks, books, cds, DVDs, furniture, bedding, mattresses, children’s toys, sporting goods and more. You name it they probably have it. Store is well organised, prices are great and the staff are friendly. Couldn’t ask for more ?

Great value and selection of clothes and bric n brac. Well organised due to Covid. Very sweet and helpful staff. Only ONE complaint. The hangers say one size but the clothes on them are different. Also there is no organisation of clothes into size categories…they just hung up. This means if you are strapped for time you won’t browse long. Other than that, I scored some great clothes.

Tips for First-Time Op Shop Visitors in Australia

If you’re planning on visiting an op shop (thrift store) in Australia for the first time, here are some tips to make your experience more enjoyable and successful:

    • Research the op shop before visiting. Look up their opening hours, location, and any special promotions or events they may have. This will help you plan your visit and make the most of your time there.
    • Bring cash. While some op shops may accept card payments, many may only accept cash. It’s always a good idea to have some small notes and coins on hand.
    • Go with a shopping list or specific items in mind. Op shops can be overwhelming with their vast selection of items. Having a list or specific items in mind will help you stay focused and make it easier to find what you’re looking for.
    • Take your time and be patient. Op shops can be messy and disorganized, so it may take some time to find what you’re looking for. Take your time and browse through the racks and shelves thoroughly. You never know what hidden gems you may find!
    • Inspect the items before purchasing. Since op shop items are pre-loved, it’s important to inspect them for any damage or defects before purchasing. Check for stains, rips, missing buttons, or broken zippers. Some op shops may not accept returns or offer refunds, so it’s better to be thorough before making a purchase.
    • Don’t be afraid to negotiate. Unlike regular retail stores, op shops may be willing to negotiate on prices, especially if you’re buying multiple items or if an item has been in the store for a while. It never hurts to ask!
    • Donate your unwanted items. Op shops rely on donations to keep their stock replenished. If you have any unwanted items that are in good condition, consider donating them to the op shop you’re visiting. It’s a great way to give back and support a good cause.

With these tips in mind, you’ll be well-prepared for your first op shop adventure in Australia. Happy shopping!

Massive floor space that as a general rule is very nicely set out and has a great feel to it. Well lit and has decent space between sections.

My one real complaint is that all sizing is lumped together, with plus sizes separate to 14-16 & below, so you need to give yourself time to go through everything.

They have literally everything with ladieswear being the biggest stock, plenty of shoes & accessories.

It’s a really lovely space, well set out and worth a visit, just give yourself plenty of time .

      Parking onsite which is great

Twice recently i have taken donations here and both times the blokes who were at the drop off area where rude. The first time they were busy because they had just opened but he still didnt have to be rude in his tone. And this second time i pulled up and i smiled and was friendly as i always am and he just said what in it (i had boxes) i explained and hes like “over there” he sat there watching me. And was very rude in his tone. I do not like their customer service. There is never any reason to be rude in such a way.

Carpark is just pure kaos – a fair warning it’s often full and takes far too much maneuvering – prices are average / on the high side, the renovation is nice and all but just loses that op shop experience and is too ‘corporate’ not one that we visit often for those reasons.

NASTIEST AND RUDEST staff member. Firstly I walked into the wrong area because I’d never been there before and was yelled at by a lady “you can’t come in here”….. I apologised and then told her I’d never been there before and didn’t know where to go. Upon leaving I grabbed 2 large bags from my car I was donating, and handed them to an older man at the front who was loading donation bags!

He snatched it off me and I said “be careful it’s heavy”! He quickly snapped at me and said “when you donate to a charity can you be a bit more thoughtful and not make the bags so heavy??? We’re all getting older here”!!!”..

I was shocked. I then when to my car to donate a smaller bag and asked him when to put it. He rudely said to me “just put it there” and stormed off!!! I couldn’t BELIEVE how rude he was especially because the clothes I was donating were BRAND NEW, TOP QUALITY dresses and shoes! Maybe say “Thankyou” next time you rude man! Kindness goes a long way! Aren’t you in the volunteer business?

Specifically to their Containers For Change section…certain staff just cannot count accurately. The amount of double handling is ridiculous. So I tried the bag and drop system with them and didn’t get even a quarter of my money back. When I inquired they pointed at a massive pile of bagged bottles and said maybe it was there or maybe the bag broke. I called the scheme and they promised my refund. I only received a token amount. So decided to give them one last chance. First time went ok. Second time they miscounted again! Worst part is that they throw them into the bays so quickly that you cannot demand a recount. In frustration I went to Tomra. Such a dream in comparison. Can’t get miscounted there. Its all automated. And even when it is busy there is room to move and it is still much quicker because you don’t have to sort anything and you don’t have to take the lids off your bottles and you don’t get all sticky and dirty. AND their disabled park is right near the door.

I think it’s appalling the amount Lifeline are charging on items when you can go to Kmart and get items if not the same but cheaper!

It’s a charity store ripping off the poor, how do you expect the poor to be able to afford those prices(dog blankets $10-$30, children clothing $10+ an item & I’d hate to know adults clothing prices!) no matter what brand the item is does not matter because that means nothing to the poor that need warm clothing or blankets for there familys!

I’m absolutely disgusted in the Lifeline stores!!

How to Donate to an Op Shop in Australia

If you have items that you no longer need or want, donating them to an op shop (opportunity shop) in Australia is a great way to support a local charity, help the environment, and give someone else the chance to find a bargain. Op shops accept a wide range of items, including clothing, accessories, furniture, household items, and toys. Here are some steps to follow when donating to an op shop in Australia:

    1. Choose a charity: There are many charitable organizations that operate op shops in Australia, such as the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Red Cross. Decide which charity you would like to support.

    2. Research donation guidelines: Check the charity’s website or contact them directly to find out what items they accept. Op shops generally prefer clean, good-quality items that are in working condition.

    3. Sort and pack your items: Separate your items into different categories, such as clothing, accessories, household items, and toys. Place them in bags or boxes that are easy to transport.

    4. Find a local op shop: Use the charity’s website or a search engine to locate the nearest op shop to you. Some charities have multiple op shop locations, so choose the one that is most convenient for you.

    5. Drop off your donation: Take your sorted and packed items to the chosen op shop during their opening hours. If you have a large or heavy donation, you may want to call ahead to make sure they can accommodate it.

    6. Obtain a receipt: Ask for a receipt when you drop off your donation. This will allow you to claim a tax deduction if the charity is registered as a deductible gift recipient (DGR).

    7. Consider additional support: If you are unable to drop off your donation, some charities offer pick-up services for larger items. You can also consider volunteering your time or making a monetary donation to further support the op shop and the charity’s cause.

Donating to an op shop in Australia is a simple and effective way to give back to your community. It not only helps those in need but also reduces waste by giving preloved items a second life. By following the steps above, you can easily donate to an op shop and make a positive impact.

No idea why this place has so many positive reviews. The merchandise is well sorted and it’s clear that effort has been put in, but there’s just no good stuff worth buying.

Great products but I walked past a senior staff member speaking to a couple of volunteer staff members in a very condescending and rude manner….I was absolutely shocked. Volunteers give their time for free and in no way deserve being treated in that manner…..no one does. Shameful.

A tight turn into the car park when you have busy traffic following. There’s a car parking space very close to the entry making it very hard to locate and then quickly turn in if you haven’t been before. Once in ,to leave a donation you drive in past sales area through active forklift operational area. Once parked there are marked bins to leave your donation and then leave back onto main road with again, car parked on main road close to exit blocking clear view for entry to live traffic. Very happy to leave donation for good cause but entry/exit a bit iffy.

What to Consider When Visiting an Op Shop in Gladstone

Anglican This N That Shop in Gladstone
Anglican This N That Shop in Gladstone

When going to a thrift store in Australia, there are several things to consider in order to have a successful and enjoyable shopping experience. Here are some factors to keep in mind:

    • Location: Choose a thrift store that is conveniently located for you. Check online or use mapping apps to find the nearest options. This will save you time and make your visit more convenient.
    • Store Reputation: Research the store’s reputation before visiting. Look for reviews and feedback from previous customers to get an idea of the quality and variety of items available.
    • Store Policies: Familiarize yourself with the store’s policies such as returns, exchanges, and any membership or discount programs they offer. Knowing these details beforehand can help prevent any confusion or disappointment later on.
    • Opening Hours: Check the store’s opening and closing hours. Some thrift stores have limited operating hours or specific days when they receive new inventory. Planning your visit accordingly will ensure you have enough time to browse and find what you’re looking for.
    • Bring Cash: Many thrift stores in Australia prefer cash payments, so it’s a good idea to bring enough cash with you. Some stores may accept cards, but it’s always safer to have cash as a backup.
    • Inspect Items: Before making a purchase, thoroughly inspect the items you’re interested in. Check for any damages, stains, missing parts, or signs of wear and tear. This will help you make an informed decision and avoid any surprises after you’ve made the purchase.
    • Try Things On: If the thrift store has a fitting room, take advantage of it and try on clothing items you’re considering. This will help ensure a proper fit and prevent the hassle of returning items that don’t work for you.
    • Be Open-Minded: Thrift stores offer a wide range of items, so keep an open mind while shopping. You may discover unique pieces or unexpected treasures that you wouldn’t have found in regular retail stores.
    • Support a Cause: Many thrift stores in Australia are associated with charities or non-profit organizations. By shopping at these stores, you are not only getting great deals but also supporting a good cause. Consider the values and objectives of the thrift store and choose to shop where you align with their mission.

      Dear Salvation Army,

I am putting in a complaint about Jarvis (I think it was) the manager at salvation army in Gladstone.

I would like to express how I felt today going to my local salvation army, I was on the hunt for a 80s prom dress for a hen do I have coming up.

I approached a staff member and asked where the fitting rooms are for me to try something on and was told that there isn’t any. I asked why and was told it was due to theft of items which I understand. I then asked if I can return an item if it didn’t fit me as I am a new mother and I am breastfeeding so something that would fit me doesn’t at the moment. I was told to ask the manager which is when I met Jarvis the Manager of the salvation army in Gladstone. I asked Jarvis if I could please put the items over my clothes to see if they fit, he said no very rudely. I asked how am I meant to know if it fits me and you have no return policy? He then said “I don’t want to talk to you get out my face”. I was completely shocked and I said how can you talk to a customer like this I am just asking you a simple question. He then continued to be rude to me and said I don’t want to talk to you.

I asked for his name and told him I am putting in a complaint which he said “do it” and showed me his badge all cocky. I left the store crying I was trying to explain to him that I am breastfeeding and I need to try things on at the moment but he didn’t want to listen to a word I was saying. I have never felt so insulted and hurt.

How is a policy in place where you cant try items on or have a return policy for clothing?

I would like an outcome about this matter as I have never felt so upset about leaving a store.

      Thank you

Uncomfortable shopping experience – always followed and watched by staff. Stopped carrying a handbag with me but it still occurs. No longer a shop for those in need – ‘name brands’ priced to suit the trending buy second hand/ethical etc market. Occasionally find gems but really need to hunt through racks, but as mentioned above it’s no longer enjoyable when made to feel like a criminal

Very bad experience! No change room also not allowed to put clothes on to check fitting. I did try a top on in front of a mirror near the service counter and was reprimanded. I cannot afford to buy and not try for fitting.

Staff are nice but the prices are RIDICULOUS! I literally heard staff looking up the prices of items on eBay for which I assume is what they base their prices on for certain items. Op shops have become a JOKE! People DONATE these items FOR FREE and you guys scam everyday people because we choose to shop sustainably and because the cost of living is becoming exorbitant! You guys need a reality check.

95% of the items for sale here are extremely overpriced. A real shame honestly for those whom are struggling, as they would not be able to afford to shop in this store. Pretty disgusting knowing everything was donated to them for free, they are taking advantage of people who buy from them. I would encourage people to buy retail from kmart big w etc as those stores will sell you brand new items for much less.

If you are old enough to remember how op shops ‘used’ to be, you will love this place. It’s a hidden little gem. The pricing is very good. It’s as far away from those over priced, boutique op shops as you can get. I have visited a few times and always leave with some little treasure. It’s worth the little rummage through different parts of it. Staff were really lovely as well

Very rude, judgemental people, they actedike the donated free goods were coming out of there own pocket,if I had donated items to be given to people for free and they were treated so poorly I would be so upset, and the judgement and questions asked when we are in a cost of living crisis and if you need food assistance is so shameful, especially for people that should be doing gods work

Disappointed since this is a great shop and my first visit was great, lovely staff and lots of unique items.. However today one of the staff members was quite rude and condescending when I was simply trying to take a mirror(that I was purchasing) off a rack because the other ladies were busy. Rather than approaching me and asking me if I needed a hand, she stormed over to me and scolded me like a child ? which just makes me want to avoid this store all together.

How to Donate to an Op Shop in Australia

If you have gently used clothing, furniture, homewares, or other items that you no longer need or want, donating them to an op shop (opportunity shop) is a great way to give back to your community and support a worthy cause. Op shops in Australia are typically run by charitable organizations and rely on donations to fund their programs and services. Here are steps on how to donate to an op shop in Australia:

    • Research local op shops: Look up op shops in your area to find out which organizations operate them and what types of items they accept. You can do a quick online search or ask friends and family for recommendations.
    • Find out donation guidelines: Different op shops have different guidelines for the types of items they accept, so it’s important to familiarize yourself with their specific requirements. You can usually find this information on the organization’s website or by contacting them directly.
    • Gather your items: Sort through your belongings and gather the items you wish to donate. Make sure they are clean, in good condition, and meet the op shop’s guidelines. Some op shops may not accept certain items, such as large furniture or electronics, so it’s important to check beforehand.
    • Prepare your items: Wash and clean your clothing and homewares, and make sure all items are in working order. If you’re donating larger items like furniture, disassemble them if possible to make it easier for the op shop to handle.
    • Drop off your donations: Take your donations to the op shop during their hours of operation. They usually have designated drop-off points or bins where you can leave your items. Some op shops may also offer pick-up services for larger items, so check if this is available in your area.
    • Keep a record: If you require a receipt for tax purposes, make sure to ask for one when dropping off your donations. Many op shops provide receipts that you can use to claim a deduction on your tax return.

Great store where all clothes are $2. Most of the Op shops down the road were crazy expensive. This one was cheap and had good quality items

I love this shop, however, in the past month, I’ve seen a sign on the donation box to say they’re not accepting any donations which is sad when there’s so many ‘homeless’ and less fortunate folk out there. Why not give away the older stuff and welcome in the newer stuff!!

Older staff member with shortish hair was incredibly rude. No greeting, no smiling and didn’t say hello back, just stared judgingly. Wouldn’t allow us in with a coffee and demanded we put it down before we could come in. Could not have been more impolite about it. Shame because the opshop looked alright but the atmosphere just felt toxic quiet and uncomfortable. I’ve never been in an opshop that made me that uncomfortable. Shop attendant reminded of nurse Ratched from one flew over the cokoos nest.

This is an op shop that’s well worth going to, and the money goes to a great cause (re homing dogs and cats (and other small animals)). The staff are helpful and it’s in a location that’s not hard to get too (the centre of southport). This shop is defiantly worth a look, and spending money at!

This is an op shop and is ridiculously overpriced. I know the money goes to a good cause but you can’t sell used items more expensive than they are new..
