The Christchurch mosque shootings were two consecutive mass shootings on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on 15 March 2019. They were committed by Brenton Tarrant who entered both mosques during Friday prayer, firstly at the Al Noor Mosque at 1:40 p.m. and later at the Linwood Islamic Centre at 1:52 p.m. Tarrant was arrested after his vehicle was rammed by a police unit as he was driving to a third mosque in Ashburton. He live-streamed the first shooting on Facebook, marking the first successfully live-streamed far-right terror attack, and had published an online manifesto before the attack. On 26 March 2020, he pleaded guilty to 51 murders, 40 attempted murders, and engaging in a terrorist act, and in August was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole – the first such sentence in New Zealand.The attack was linked to an increase in white supremacy and alt-right extremism globally observed since about 2015. Politicians and world leaders condemned it, and then-Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern described it as "one of New Zealand's darkest days". The government established a royal commission into its security agencies in the wake of the shootings, which were the deadliest in modern New Zealand history and the worst ever committed by an Australian national. The commission submitted its report to the government on 26 November 2020, the details of which were made public on 7 December.The shooting has inspired copycat attacks, especially due to its live-streamed nature. In response to this incident, the United Nations designated March 15 as the International Day to Combat Islamophobia.

    Bodybuilding paradise! Always a good time working out here, from the perfect lighting to the flawless range of machines available, never an average workout here. The staff are awesome, they go above and beyond in insuring that the gym is in perfect shape while also being incredibly friendly and welcoming. Bathrooms are clean and tidy, and showers are to die for! Price range is very affordable too, with added member benefits such as inception labs products which never lack in quality and effectiveness. Can say with confidence that this is the best gym in Christchurch.

    I was met at the front desk by a nice curly haired guy. He welcomed me into this family. since then I’ve felt completely welcomed into the gym. I love this place and the community that comes with it. I highly recommend coming here if you’re thinking of joining a gym there has been no regrets with me signing up here!

    Inception gym is a place that i’ve come to find as a safe environment, safe for anyone of any background to have a consistently premium workout. The staff are super friendly and their on-site supplement store is super helpful as you also get member prices. Would 100% recommend!

    Massive gym with a larger than ordinary selection of machines and workout areas. You’ll find all the necessities you’d expect with a CityFitness, and then some.

    Initially a little challenging to find as its three storeys up, but this very minor inconvenience is overcome be the grand scale of the place. All set on one floor, the gym offers an impressive range of cardio and weight machines, a very large free weights area, and large floor area. (These are all bigger than some of your older CityFitness venues.) Plus, the gym is noticeably clean!

    Several classes offered in side studios including body weight, spin classes and circuits.

    Go here and enjoy not having to wait for any kit, and enjoy the broad range of gym-goers who might just broad the inspiration or motivation you need.

    I’ve been here twice whilst visiting friends.
    Impressed by the sheer space and the numerous amounts of equipment. Like how each weight area has its own mirror. Also, like how there are loads of spray bottles. Equipment is in good condition and spaced out evenly.
    Greeted by staff member this morning, which was nice.
    Awesome gym. I would definitely come back for more workouts.
