    We visited during the annual halloween event held at Caboolture Historical Village this year. Halloween is always a magical time of year; giving adults and kids an excuse to dress up, have fun and indulge our sweet tooth just a little. It was our first time attending this event, and what an experience we had. The village gave a nice balance of fright while also being family friendly. Be prepared to hear many screams as you explore the night. The halloween decorations showcased were beautifully integrated with the historical buildings, and curated items can be enjoyed throughout the village. The mandatory jumpscare was on the table for the night. Volunteers included ghosts and ghouls in the hospital, witches that gave us a wonderfully ‘horrifying’ welcome as well as a caged prisoner. The details were well thought throughout the event. You could also find a chainsaw madman chasing people through the village. There were statues that came alive. We enjoyed the miniature train ride, which also included murderous gunmen firing away from the minature forest. This gave us a good jump. Next halloween, I would recommend adding Caboolture Historical Village on your list for a fun family fright night.

    This village was worth the drive from Ipswich QLD. Go and see how your forebears lived and worked. Many of the buildings are original and some have been restored. Others have been reproduced, if taking little ones check the times of the train(I was disappointed)

    One of the best places I’ve been too I needed way more than 90mins coming back for a second visit soon. This time starting in the morning so if I take all day brilliant. Well worth the trip and please take your time there to really enjoy the moment. So much to see and explore it’s like a whole town plus some more.

    Interesting place to spend a Sunday, which happens to be the only day it is opened (at this point in time). The free tour is well worth waiting for. Look out for the blackboard near the entrance of the shop/museum for times of the tours. If you are going in summer or a hot day, a hat and sunscreen is a must as a good part of the tour is outdoors. There’s not too much shade at parts of the tour but plenty of refreshments can be purchased. Best to stock up before going on a tour! Be prepared for some exhibits/buildings to be closed either due to lack of volunteers on the day or closed for maintenance. The volunteers who manage the place are friendly and full of interesting stories. Please don’t leave without making a donation!

    Fort Lytton Historic Military Precinct was one of the most interesting places I’ve ever had the opportunity to check out. We went there on an overcast day, and it really gave the feeling that we had taken a step back in time. Taking photos of the old bunkers and the alleyways was great as well. If you ever get the chance to check out Fort Lytton Historic Military Precinct, you won’t regret it. Here are some of the photos I took during the visit.

    Fort Lytton is a well preserved and interesting part of Brisbanes history. The volunteers do a fantastic job of running and maintaining the area. It is only open on a Sunday, they run free comprehensive tours, the displays are well put together and very informative. It’s very popular with families, kids love exploring the outdoor areas and it’s a great spot for picnics. There are toilet facilities and a small canteen with tea coffee snacks.

    History is an important part of a nation. Regardless of whether this period of history is good or bad, some lessons can be learned.
    The history of Australia before World War I is very interesting, with costumes, slogans and military orders.

    Great piece of military history. Lots of things to see and explore.

    Couple of notes regarding this place.

    Website says open 7 days, however according to park ranger this is incorrect. Park is open to public on Sundays only. But we were here on a Friday and after speaking politely to ranger we were permitted to wander around, but nothing was open for you to enter and there was no guided tour.

    Also we were warned to watch out for snakes, we did see 1 on our walk around park
