Bundaberg is a city in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland, Australia, and is the tenth largest city in the state. Bundaberg's regional area has a population of 70,921, and is a major centre of the Wide Bay–Burnett geographical region. The Bundaberg central business district is situated along the southern bank of the Burnett River, about 20 km (12 mi) from its mouth at Burnett Heads, and flows into the Coral Sea. The city is sited on a rich coastal plain, supporting one of the nation's most productive agricultural regions. The area of Bundaberg is the home of the Taribelang-Bunda, Goreng Goreng, Gurang, and Bailai peoples. Popular nicknames for Bundaberg include "Bundy", "Rum City", and "The 'Berg". The demonym of Bundaberg is Bundabergian.The district surveyor, John Thompson Charlton designed the city layout in 1868, which planned for uniform square blocks with wide main streets, and named it ‘Bundaberg’. An early influence on the development of Bundaberg came with the 1868 Land Act, which was a famous Queensland via media, that aimed to create a class of Australian yeoman.Large sugarcane plantations were established throughout the 1880s, with industries of sugar mills, refineries, and rum distilleries that delivered prosperity to Bundaberg. These plantations used South Sea Islanders as indentured labourers, many of whom were blackbirded, a practice considered of form of slavery. The trade was outlawed in 1904, with most South Sea Islanders deported by 1906.Major floods in 1942 and 1954 damaged the river, ending Bundaberg's role as a river port and led to a new port at the mouth of the Burnett river. In the post-war era, Bundaberg continued to grow with its wealth tied to its sugar industry. In 2013, Bundaberg experienced record flooding from Cyclone Oswald, which was the worst disaster in the city's history.The economy of Bundaberg is based primarily on agriculture, forestry, fishing and tourism, with a gross regional product at about $5.07 billion. Bundaberg also has a major distillery and brewery industry that exports to international markets. The city is served by the Port of Bundaberg and the Bundaberg Airport.     Great markets on every Sunday. Had a good range of stalls for fresh fruit and vegetables and reasonable prices. A range of other stalls there as well . Fresh fish was also on sale.a great stall selling herb plants as well. Plentiful parking . Recommend checking it out.

    Loved the fresh fruit and veges here especially the local farmers produce. Strawberries absolutely amazing at this time of year and happy to pay a little more for the actual local farm ones also amazing snap and pod peas as were the local spuds, cauliflower etc. Have to say coffee was one I will not be revisiting

    Absolute great lunch and very affordable. For all those complaining about sitting downstairs (which I think is actually a great spot): you are not in a fine dining restaurant. It is a take away seafood market with a restaurant. For this, I think the prices are reflective, the quality superb, and the venue is a bonus. Can’t expect wait staff, unless you want to pay the price. I think they nailed it! Staff was friendly and helpful too. It was busy when we were there (Saturday lunch) and they all had a smile and time for you.
    We had the hot and cold seafood platter for 2, a very nice Riesling and had just enough room for cheesecake and iced latte. Can’t wait to return for the chowder when it cools down again.

    Every time we go, the staff is friendly? and the seafood is fresh, making it great for cooking at home? The selection changes weekly, and having a seafood market in Bundy makes me very happy❣️

    Food took a little longer than expected due to a lost order on a busy day, but the food was well worth the wait and it is in the perfect location by the river. I’ll be back!

    We always look forward to our dining experiences at Grunskis? Lovely Trish at the front is so welcoming and all the team are very friendly.
    The seafood platters are great value the quality is excellent and well presented.
    On our recent visit I had the Fully Loaded Bundy Prawns which were fabulous and our family enjoyed the Salmon Teriyaki Bowl and Bundy Barra with the creamy sauce.
    A very relaxing way to spend a leisurely lunch looking at the beautiful Burnett river and passing boats with a chilled Sauvignon blanc or a cold drink of choice.

    Super helpful staff member. Food was tasty and really fresh. Very generous portions. We had the Hot and Cold platter for 2 and even without eating the chips we didn’t finish. Even had the local sand crab on there. Best part was they took the time to cut the crab so it was easy to get every last morsel or of it. I love crab and find it fussy too eat. I enjoyed it so much and the care of the preparation that I will be going back for more crab today. ? Beautiful views and venue on the water.
