Very convenient location in Lae city. First glance of the hotel from the outside it looks run-down, however; the inside of the building is nice. The standard rooms are really big & spacious. They serve complimentary breakfast as well.

As a member of the Lamana Hotel and a regular as well, Lamana is a comfortable place for me to let lose and relax and enjoy a couple beers and a chat with friends or a game of pool in the arena or snooker at the Q club upstairs or even discuss business during the week days. Both Yiannis and Jacquie (Executive Managing Staff) come and mingle with the members and regulars. The staff are friendly and helpful. The DJ’s keep the party going mixing up the hits with classics from the legends to blast from the past, to the current music hitting the airwaves abroad as well as locally. The security is alert always making sure the members are kept safe, anyone who is out of order is always chucked out of the club instantly to ensure others enjoy their peace and freedom to enjoy themselves. The food is tasty and great. I have also stayed in the rooms which are comfortable and cozy. Great service from both management and staff, Great Food, Great rooms, Great Location. Truly the party capital of the Pacific. Keep being awesome Lamana, and keep improving. The skies the limit. Kudos!

I have stayed at lamana many times in the past.
I stayed this time for a week and I found it very noisy and lots of drucks around.
The service was slow and made mistakes.
The check in was messy and the booking online needs more attention as the staff does not follow it.
The check out was also messy with tabs booked to my account with out any proper authorisation.
On checking in I asked for a discount but no one listened to my request.

Hilton Noumea La Promenade Residences

Location is brilliant with lovely sea views. However, for a Hilton branded property, it was very tired, and the cleanliness of the bathrooms left a lot to be desired. Surprising that they leave only two coffee pods for a long stay and expect you to purchase more. The breakfast was strictly underwhelming with food running out by 8am. The quality of the food was very average and quite a disappointed. For the price charged, I would not recommend at all.

Great location- close to beach, boutiques, restaurants, aquarium. Family-friendly hotel.
Extremely friendly, courteous & helpful staff.
Medium sized pool was quite popular. Gym was a bit sad & dated with only the basic equipment. Ladies gym was new & modern. Renovations going on in the hotel, will be quite lovely once all ready.
We had a 2-bedroom apartment. It was very spacious & well equipped with kitchen, laundry amenities similar to a serviced apartment. However, it was old, dated & not well maintained. None of the bathroom/toilet doors locked properly, master bedroom door couldn’t even shut as it didn’t fit its frame! Hot water was scalding HOT without warning!!
Not luxury, but comfortable stay. Good for families & larger groups.

Good hotel in nice and convenient location in Noumea. A little run down however, they were doing some painting and renovations when we were there (so maybe will look nicer once completed). 3 bedroom apartment had a great view.
All the staff were fantastic and Gunther was especially helpful and polite. Restaurant was superb even on the quiet night. Overall nice place to stay.

Terrible service from the staff. Wanted to check out earlier than what the reservation was for, but staff pressured us to pay for 3 nights after we only stayed there 1 night, then we weren’t allowed to even change the check out date. We had to pay for 3 nights to leave, otherwise we weren’t given a choice. Would never stay here again, the rooms didn’t feel like 4 stars either. Waste of money and gave a bad start to our holiday.

KIWI AS GUEST HOUSE in Rotorua, New Zealand
Haka House Rotorua
Address: 1278 Haupapa Street, Rotorua 3010, New Zealand
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in Room 8. As seasonal hostel travellers this was a disappointing stay. Biggest gripe was there was no aircon or fans. You cannot even get a fan from the reception. We cooked in our twin share room both nights. The outside lights were on all night and not activated by sensor. So it was bright in our room even with the curtains closed. Having the curtains closed made the airflow worse. Also room 8 is a high traffic area for other guests. It was so noisy all night long. You can also hear the guests in the room above you.
Overall disappointing stay.
Only saving grace was that the hostel was relevantly clean and modern.

Rooms were a little cramped but everything was clean and the bunks had chargers and curtains. Kitchen and dining area is a modest size but nice enough. Real issue with this place is the service. The two people that checked in ahead of me and my friend had problems with their rooms and the front desk clerk did nothing to help them. Really just shrugged off their problems. After checking in we were struggling to find our room. The clerk didn’t tell us where to go and even walked past us struggling to find it, looked at us, and walked off. Later when me and my friend couldn’t find a freezer we asked the same clerk if they had one and he told us if we couldn’t see one they didn’t have it. We double checked and there was a deep freezer on the patio. Upon checking out we asked where there storeroom was (every other Haka we stayed in had one that was locked after you put your stuff in). He said to just leave our bags in the unlocked and often unattended lobby. Overall just rude, uninterested guest services. Really added some frustration to our stay.

A lot of dead bugs in women bathroom, the bins in the kitchen were only emptied once a day and therefore always overfilled. The halls were not really clean.
The kitchen was nice and really well equippend and apart from the room being a little small and hot, it was tidy and the furniture nice.

Stayed here with my partner for 6 nights and found the overall the experience was pretty great. We had some very hot weather which made experience good and bad. The rooms while comfortable lacked ventilation. Although is not their fault because of the weather it was a struggle to sleep a few nights as the humidity was high. A fan would have to made the difference. The USB plugs and tv and fridge were all very useful. I found that the walls in between rooms were very thin and you could often hear other guests. Kitchen facilities were great loads of pans and plates and clean utensils no fault there. This place is really great but the main issue was the entire vibe of the place felt a bit stale and awkward.

It was a warm night, and I stayed in a room with six bunk beds. Unfortunately, there was no air conditioning or fan, only a tiny window I had to keep closed for privacy. As a result, it was very hot inside, and I didn’t get much sleep.
The facility was cluttered with stuff everywhere. There were piled-up linens in the lobby, a floor cover for painting jobs in the hallway, and a vacuum parked in the doorway the entire time I stayed there for three nights.
I kept my food in a bag in the communal refrigerator with my name and dates on it. However, the next day, I found out that someone had gone through my bag and misplaced items outside to place their items inside. I complained to the staff, but unfortunately, no one seemed to care.
Compared to the price, it’s good value, but it seemed no one cared disappointingly for their services and customers’ experiences during the stay.

I’ve stayed at two hostels in Nelson, this one and the palace backpackers. Far and away, this hostel was better, and I wish I’d chosen it for my earlier stay as well. The staff was nice, the parking was easy and plentiful, even with it mostly being street parking. Clean, cozy, good bathroom and kitchen facilities, free dessert in the evenings, plenty of places to hang out and lots of board games and stuff for backpackers to use. I liked it. If I come back to Nelson again, this will definitely be my go to choice.

You get what you pay a lower price for. Room clean, bathroom clean, no air conditioning but did have a fan. Shower was surprisingly good. Room had tea, coffee, hot chocolate packets and sugar. Didn’t try the Thai-Indian Restaurant, unfortunately, as those are two of my favorite foods. A lot of road noise in very early morning with recycle pickup, and then from the restaurant with early morning food preparation and blaring music.

Staff were quite rude and snappy. The second I walked in with my mum the woman DEMANDED (not ask) to see my ID. (I am over 18) if she’d have been nicer about it I wouldn’t have minded but she was very intimidating. The room itself wasn’t too bad, although I’d recommend bringing your own fan as the one they provided did little to nothing to keep us cool and the windows would jam when trying to open them. Then around 5am in the morning I am unsure if this is a reoccurring event but very loud Gym music that was coming from a nearby place which kept us awake for quite a while as the walls are quite thin so bring your own earplugs too.

Sure the Karaoke is definitely happening. I don’t think it’s offensive though. I find myself singing along a bit and then going back to sleep. I mean I haven’t heard some of the songs since my dad’s transistor radio out in the garden in the 70’s. Classic! What you don’t want to miss is the Thai/Indian restaurant! Really lovely hostel. Very friendly welcome and lovely service throughout time we were there. Kitchen was good and had everything you needed. Breakfast was so lovely – freshly made bread and scrolls with fruits, yogurts and cereals. Showers and bathroom were decent. Rooms were nice, needed a much stronger light though. The building is quite old and everything feels a bit dated but that’s just personal preference. Overall lovely stay in a great location – would definitely come back.

Great location right in the CBD but with easy street parking nearby. Really friendly service and nice free breakfast with baked goods, cereal and canned fruit. The kitchen is well-stocked and clean. It appears that they’re in the process of updating the rooms and bathrooms — some looked more updated than others. There is a music venue next door, and it can be quite loud when there’s a concert, though none of the shows went too late. Overall, a comfortable stay!

Toad Hill was very laid back & friendly staff & regular guests.
The rooms are what you pay for being a hostel but can say I slept well & I was comfortable.
Toad Hill upstairs has a community dinning room to accommodate for a number of guests to sit back and relax, read a book or watch tv & a kitchen big enough to host a cook off in.
A very modern old house with high ceilings, & facilities.
The downstairs department has the comfort of free commercial breakfast attached to your room fee, with free coffee, tea & Milo, biscuits, fresh baked bread & cake.
There is also a library of books, a pool table, a ping pong table, a piano, and a television.
The owners are very lovely & great with having kids booked in to stay as well with a little court yard & a basketball hoop.
Will definitely come again.

Rooms are very small and very hot, they don’t allow the windows to open, which makes the room unbearable and not comfortable at all, slightly overpriced too. They do offer breakfast which was a nice addition. The shower pressure is not strong at all which was disappointing. The Cabana live music bar next door is a brilliant idea! Wonderful staff, helpful and friendly. I liked the castle feel at the door, the dark brick and the plain wooden door. Parking at the door on a one-way driveway. Plenty of lighting options in the room, and plenty of mirrors. I appreciated a luggage rack for both travellers. Comfy bed, nice pillows. Plugs in handy location for charging devices on the bedside table. Also a usb cord charging point over the desk. Four wifi options to get the best signal.
Shower had an adjustable hose which was awesome as many motels don’t, but the shower drain was blocked. Hand basin needs an upgrade.
Clean plates and cutlery on the kitchen shelf. Milk came in a glass bottle.
I didn’t try the TV. alarm clock.
Fan and heater in the room if needed.
Soap can be left for a recycling scheme that supports the community.
The motel is on the corner of a busy main road and a quiet shady tree lined street. Would be nice to take a walk down there in the evening.

The service from the manager/operators is second to none, the young man at the reception is absolutely fantastic, very polite, accommodating and above all very friendly. Nothing is too much for him, my wife is handicapped and he will accommodate all our needs. His parents who run the motel are also absolutely fantastic, so the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree … two thumbs up.
The motel is not the newest anymore but the service given and cleanliness are absolutely amazing and make up for the older interior.
Your first load of washing is included in the price, we made use twice of this service – fantastic result clean, folded and smelling wonderful fresh.

Prime location located near Countdown and Pak’n’save. Rooms are abit dated but the host was excellent. The host lent us a umbrella FOC to use as it was raining.

Spacious room and although run down and could benefit from a redecoration, it was warm, clean and spacious. Friendly and helpful staff, we loved it!

We got the big corner upstairs room and it was lovely, a bit out dated but clean spacey and perfect for our short stay. Bathroom definitely needs re doing as mold is growing around the bath tub. Also you may want to bring along ear plugs, I had mine and slept great whereas my husband said it was very noisy.
Staff were really lovely and the price is great
Would recommend for a short stay
